Slip a small piece of tubing over the rear hook while you're tying the fly. Protects against hook punctures in the hands.

I just tied this up last night in yellow, orange, and white, came out nice. Doesn't have the really thick profile that a lot of articulateds have, seems SUPER lightweight and cast-able, but still able to push some water. Can't wait to try it out!

good looking fly, but it would be a better lifelike articulated fly if you used the rear hook straight shank instead of the curve at the hook eye right? youll get more natural action.

What's your rod setup to throw these big flies? New to fly fishing

I would use a my 9 ft 6 wt Helios 2 for this fly. Use a 6 ft fluorocarbon 2x - 0x. I use a 2-4 wt for dry flies and nymphing.
