i tend to agree, I went to two universitys before graduating with an English degree that I'm not using... If you wanna work some office job having a degree, and it has to be a 2/1, will get you in a lot of doors, but if you arent aiming to do that dont bother. University can be a great experience and I met great people but now I have like £42k debt, so RIP me.

If you genuinely listened to this whole thing and took everything Phil said as what it is and not just negatively assume it’s coming from a bad place, this guy deserves the utmost respect for everything he’s accomplished. A clearly very intelligent guy who’s developed a very strong and clear perspective about life as a whole and who he is. He’s exactly right, the lense he’s looked under just naturally has so much scrutiny as being the best but that should never ever take away from who he is and the work that’s been put in every day since all the way back to his days playing basketball. He wants it. Simple as that and if people have a problem with that or how he goes about it then that’s those people’s problems because I can guarantee somebody like Phil genuinely doesn’t listen to empty noise. #respect

I’m 40 minutes in and I have never heard Phil be so real , he is still guarded on a few things, but so far this brings up my respect for him.
Yeah some may hate or dislike Phil for whatever reason but you have to respect them 7 titles! No one can say that he didn’t kill it since that first Olympia win. I predict this years Olympia has lit a flame inside him and he will be back for the title in 2019! And this is coming coming from a non Phil fan lol.
Phil's problem is he expects far more than he has gotten, he equates having 7 sandows with respect, he doesn't realise that if all people see of you is social media drama and things they don't like (e.g. bubble gut) that's what they will remember you for. If people know nothing about you how can they relate to you? There's an interview (czcams.com/video/54JAqFPHwkE/video.html) where he talks with a guy about his career and frustrations, but honestly he sounds kind of entitled and bitter, he tries to minimise bodybuilding and talk about how hes gonna transcend the sport, but when the interviewer questions him he has nothing to back it up with.

Phil Heaths dream is not over, he can still achieve 10 Olympias , this is just a “Rocky Moment” For his journey, he may not feel it now but this can be the best outcome at this stage in his career to happen, providing he continues his dream .
There was a time before internet. A big strong man was allways respected. You didnt have to like him but you sure respected him. Because when a weak skinny ass guy ran his mouth towards a big guy he got punched in his face. But these days it is easy to sit there behind that screen and say what you want to who you want.

Im not sure why Heath is hated. His early physique was also pretty sharp, and if he devolved a bit with his abdominals, it doesnt negate his accomplishments. Add to this he's been really classy after his loss and I give him lots of credit.

What a tremendously valuable conversation. Truly eye opening. I used to call the way he thinks the "Michael Jordan Mindset." I'm going to start referring to it as the Phil Heath mindset lol so grateful for the wisdom he dropped here.
this is fucking gold. I needed this again, a reframing of my mindset. I am burnt out from work and schools driving me into the dirt so bad I cant even bring myself to do my work outs worth a shit. I have been so blurred out I cant even focus on the plan to get moving again. I preach focus and drive to my clients every day but I was pushing off my depression and putting my professional face on. I felt like everyone's looking up to me so I had to keep face. hearing you talk about keeping focus thinking about the task at hand not external input has been helpful today. its relieving to hear other people deal with the pressure of being a high performer.
If Phil did more of these interviews, thorough, indepth and more frequent - I believe the overall general public would have a MUCH different opinion and outlook on him.

To create such a physique. Win 7 sandows. Then have one's midsection ruin it all. I cant really feel bad for him, He knew all that gear would make his guts grow. He knew it was already an issue. I am a fan of bodybuilding and I love to see records broken and limits pushed. I cant "hate" on Phil, but I can say he could be a better champion and that he should consider that everything he says and does is scrutinized in this age of social media.
