Excellent instructional tape. Makes it look easy. Lee Valley Tools has excellent instructions.

That's a great point. I will do so in the future. It just still amazes me that someone in another country would actually watch something I do. I will try and include both metric and imperial measurements in the future. Thank you very much for watching and the feedback.

Great video Thanks. Inspired by you I made three collumes for my front porch using what you showed.

Consider. Add 2 times the thickness of staves to the radius. Glue and screw blocks or a length to the inside of the front stave ( stave with a little extra width) . Or rely on the side panels for lid stops. This will create an 'eave'. Bullnose the eave edge and it is an integral hand grip.

Work Against The Grain Try doing a barn roof. Good angle tools in CADD practice for the CNC cutting the frame piece end joinery. I haven't tried it, just saying.

Thank you for this video, it is a great idea and workaround, I am building a treasure chest /safe for my son, wondered how to achieve a dome lid top, I have cut the long edges at 17 deg. and was just going to biscuit and glue them, plane and sand it smooth. This idea is a tad easier, look better and certainly stronger, just the one complaint from me though... ... metric please, aargh we went decimal 40 odd years ago. Thanks again.

Well, I'm about 9 years late getting to this party. However it's still valid. The result was very good but I'm not sure about the math you used to get there. It looks like some of the constants were arbituary. Still, thank you for sharing.

Nice video Jeff; Have to admit to a degree of disappointment as this is actually a half cylinder top. It is easier to make this on a table saw and spline the joints. I am hoping you will do another video on making a domed chest, one that curves in both directions. Traditionally this is made as is cooperage but I must admit I don't have that skill.
