- In the 1990s, The Gold Club in Atlanta was the place to be. A mix of Vegas meets Studio 54, The Gold Club provided its guests with bottle service and a plethora of beautiful, fully nude women to look at. In this episode of I Was There, Jacklyn “Diva” Cook recounts her wild and crazy time working at The Gold Club during its heyday in the 90s, making upwards of $5k an hour, until it all came to a screeching halt when the club was raided by the FBI.

What literally blew up the strip club industry in Atlanta was Motley Crue. When they mentioned tattletales, everyone had to go there. And the Gold Club is only one mile from tattletales.
The gold club was a very high-end strip club. I knew several lawyers and real estate developers that I worked with that used to go there all the time.

Now you have to be a prostitute to make money in the industry , clubs are adding hot tubs, or limos that take you off the property to prostitute . The whole industry took a nose dive in 2020. Since Covid it’s never recovered. Clubs have stepped away from theatrical performing, and implemented prostitution. Drug use is rampant more than ever.. and this is coming from a feature, a 15 year veteran of clubs , I’ve been everywhere. California to Florida. They are all trash nowadays 💯

Using disco music in the background to describe a club from the mid 90's is really throwing me off.

@@TheMagnificentNGin Fair enough, let's remove music from the equation. There's nothing about this video or the gold club that is remarkable. Everything the main woman is saying applies to giant strip clubs across the country at this time be it Miami, New York, Vegas, or L.A.
There are certainly more interesting and/or controversial stories involved with strip clubs than those being spouted by this over the hill woman.

When she said the industry was so popular at the time like second to coca cola, I get what she means. I remember as a kid in the 90s , it was on TV like almost every day. Get home from school, turn on the TV and it's on Jerry Springer, Jenny Jones, a lot of the talk shows except for Oprah featured strippers. And they'd be in sparkly bikinis and perform.
