  • This hike is dedicated to a dear friend. William Chaloupka isn't a name you know, yet you should. He's known for being a retired professor emeritus of political science at Colorado State University and teaching for many years at the University of Montana in Missoula. I know him as a dear friend. We met at a Christmas party in 2008 and over the years, I got to know Bill. He was a passionate sports enthusiast, especially on basketball. He loved everything about Las Vegas from its origins, history, and political importance throughout the 20th century. Mostly importantly, he was incredibly kind. Bill was vital in my success completing my doctorate and assisting me with my qualitative analysis regarding my dissertation. He asked nothing in return. I'll miss our Wednesday night dinners at the Hush Puppy discussing nearly anything and everything. Always supportive, fantastic listener, great storyteller, and most of all: a beloved friend. Thank you for everything Bill.

Sorry for your loss, Dr. Foor. It sounded like you lost a great friend but celebrated his life in a wonderful way, reflecting on a hike in the mountains. Great to see you back in Colorado again. Cheers.

Sorry for you loss 😔 my condolences 💐. Nature does help the soul and mind. I have had this one on my radar. Wasn’t sure it this was through LuLu gulch but you answered my question at the end ☺️ I’ve already summited Huron but am hiking again so all of us could get this in the books and this looks like a great way

Just did this exact loop today. Really pretty day with almost the same conditions. Good day to start my 14er season after some couloirs and a failed attempt on snowmass where I turned around at 13000

Sorry to hear about Snowmass. It's best to tackle Snowmass late in the season, perhaps in August. Huron is always a joy to hike in the summer!

Great video. Wow condolences. It's amazing that you did this video as I am (was) heading to CO to hike for a few days and spied this route. In fact, I did it on Wednesday (8/11) and holy cow it kicked my you know what. Met one other person on the Lulu Gulch trail and I did not see her and her dawg the rest of the day (turned around?). The route finding, steep terrain, and talus/scree made it very difficult for me (I live ion the gulf coast). Anyway, thanks so much for the overview of the route and keep on keeping on the trails.

Congrats on the climb! It's not easy, especially coming from sea level. Thank you for sharing your journey and I hope you get to enjoy more of Colorado!

@@FoorTrek Thanks so much Dr. Foor. I followed it up with Yale the next day. Wow am so happy because it was a lot but am inspired by yourself and a lot of others who make it seem so easy. :-)
