2009 Hyundai Sonata "Fuel tank air filter" causing p0449, hard to fill with gas

  • This 2009 Sonata had a couple of issues going on. Whenever you would try to fill it with gas, it would kick the gas pump off unless you filled it very slowly. The car also had a check engine light code P0449. A test of the vent solenoid showed that the solenoid worked properly.
In the owners manual, under maintenance, there is an interval for what they call the "fuel tank air filter". My local Hyundai dealer did not know what that was. It turns out that Hyundai calls this thing by several different names which makes it hard to not only diagnose this issue but also to locate the correct part. The interval for replacement is every 30,000 miles. This Sonata had never had the filter replaced, and at 114,000 miles the filter was completely obstructed, which cased the hard to fill with gas problem as well as the p0449 code.
I doubt if I'll ever show any more Hyundai Sonata videos so don't subscribe if that's what you want. But you should subscribe for Skippie so that he can get the therapy that he needs.
Also, it's hard to make repair videos if s@#$ aint broke. Any Trailblazer, Tahoe, or C/K series pickup owners in the slower lower 302 who are looking for repairs can message me for possible working out deals on repairs not yet shown on this channel. I'm not a charity so brokesters/choosingbeggars need not apply.
