Batherson not just a steal in the draft but that contract is amazing
The disrespect on nico is atrocious, he is and has been criminally underrated. Behind makar and miro I’m fine with but no chance he falls after 3. Fenomenal defensively, the offensive numbers have increased back to close to a 60 point player, he plays all situations, and he’s a natural leader at 22-23.
Suzuki has kept up offensively while being better defensively but aight
Pettersson is a legend being on pase for 12 goals this season when Travis green was coaching. Then Bruce Boudreau comes in then Pettersson says hello! I’m the Pettersson every one wants me to be. And he has been by far one of the best Canucks players has a career high in goals now this season, also is 1 point away from tying his career high in points. Elias Pettersson is such a legend!

Nolan Patrick ranked number 1 going into the draft. 5 years later on a redraft he wouldn’t even be picked in the 1st round. Ouch!

Mario Ferraro dosent get enough attention probobly in my biased eyes the most underrated young d man in the league. I would easily pick him top 10 in this draft, he might not be the most flashy player but a consistent two way D with phenomenal skates and amazing attitude. One day he will have a C on his jersey and hopefully its for the sharks.

I also think that Philly having been in such desperate need for defensemen for so long, that gives Heiskanen the edge over Pettersson.
Love watching your videos, I pretty much agree with your whole list but would put Hischier a bit higher. He won't ever be an offensively dominant player but he's the type of all-around center you need to win games

I think having him at #3 is pretty respectful, him and Miro are pretty close, but Miro has proved to be Top 10 D-man quality, while Pettersson has just been a great 1st liner so far

@@GravitehHockey just say your a bias Dallas fan. If Petterson didn’t have a wrist injury to start this year he’d have 90 points. Since the all star break he’s been one of the best players in the league offensively and defensively.

Re-Drafting 2016 would be intresting.
I don´t say that Henri Jokiharju should be on this list but I just want to mention that he has been pretty solid defensively playing with Dahlin at Buffalo which isn´t the most easiest place to play.
I also appreciate that Heiskanen was where he should be. Today there are so many defencemen scoring insane points but (almost) any of them aren´t nowhere near as good at defensively as Heiskanen, dude can do everything you can hope a player do as a coach.
I see his career to be pretty similar with Hedman, he wasn´t star at his first few seasons either.
Do we have to do this again! This draft was bad enough for us the first time!

imo Necas has been Ok defensively, has been on the canes PK for most? of the season, still skates really fast but has been making poor decisions with the puck and lacking a little bit of execution, has been playing a lot on the 4th line with some shifts on the second. If he can figure out those few things he defiantly will have a better season. But lets be honest, this is kinda like a Junoir slump for him as its only his 2nd or 3rd full season.

Heiskenen is deserves top3 he’s not as offensive as Makar, but he will still get you 50 points which is already a lot for a d man, and his defence impact is for real
As a rangers fan, having Chytil over Norris or Batherson is really horrible
Jason Robertson should be number two on this list
This is somehow even worse than Nathans’s list
I remember everyone calling the whole draft a bust and yet picks 1 through 7 are all All Star caliber players lol

If Necas ever decides to be consistently at his peak he easily could be top 5 of this class. Dude has an absolutely ridiculously amount of pure skill and his speed is almost unmatched. Just needs to figure things out mentally.
Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the entire point of doing a RE-DRAFT is yrs after the draft now a draft order can be created based on players careers, current performance, & stats. That makes it not fully opinionated Petterson is pretty much a guarantee 30G scorer in a full season, but Makar is really proving to be a generational Dman to be the only player to take the #1 spot. Thomas & Robertson just now broke out & at such a great difference that putting players entire careers out of the equation the top 10 would be good to come back after next season because of them 2 & Nico all have 3 different main skillsets & just broke out this season. Robertson the pure scorer, Thomas the playmaker, & Hischier has the best 200ft gm, but also may be a PPG player now which would hands down make him 3rd especially with his entire career included. Heiskanen is a solid 2nd pair Dman. Obviously a Devils fan and Severson drafted early 2nd started the 2nd yr after drafted which is quick for a 2nd rd pick & he gets no attention while putting up double digit goals plus 10 more pts than Heiskanen and the main point no one would take him over Nico even though he's good & same w/ Robertson for sure if he's a legit 30-40 perennial scorer and if Thomas is a PPG I don't see a 35pt under 10 goal D man is picked 2nd. I'm sorry but your list booty butt 💩stain stankin' ranking.

As a Detroit fan, the 2017 draft was certainly one we try to forget about. Rasmussen has been getting better, but man...
I agree that Mittelstadt has not lived up to an 8th round pick (I believe). I think he could at least crack the top 20, if not be switched for Hague’s spot. Mittelstadt is inconsistent, but he’s slowly developing a decent middle-six game. At best, a 20-25 goal scorer, at worst 10-15. Has great hands though.
No real superstars other than Makar, but this top ten is super solid overall. Batherson was definitely the biggest steal of the draft though(other than Makar). A point per game player from the fourth round is super rare

I agree, I would say Heiskanen is on the edge of becoming a superstar also Robertson. Honestly Petterson is just like you said, needs more consistent. And a little bit of a hot take, nico is a player who I say could brake out as a superstar later in his career but that’s all I go.

I think Norris is scoring above his actual ceiling this season. I can’t see him as a perennial 35 goal scorer, but 25-30 year in year out easily. HOWEVER I think that he and drake batherson should both be above Suzuki and nico heisher easily.

FUN FACT: Bobby Clarke was considering drafting Cale Makar when he highlighted Philadelphia’s struggles this season. The team was mismanaged under Hextall, such as the drafting of Provorov, who looks like a buyout/trade candidate this offseason after the Risto extension and the recent play of Travis Sanheim, not to mention the emergence of Cam York, as well as the drafting of Patrick due to him being a consensus 1st overall pick if it were not for concussion problems. Unfortunately, Hextall was the one who made the draft decisions. Mismanagement continued under Fletcher due to the Ristolainen extension and the Ryan Ellis trade, which looked like PHI was going to win until he got hurt, and now it looks like he wants out of Philly ala Jack Eichel and the Buffalo Sabres last summer

Dude, Thomas can't play 1 season, since he needed 4 to develop & be better the Nico- a player who was a 20G 50+pt C his draft yr., should be in the top 3 for the Selke if NJ was better, but really if the NHL didn't go bonkers allowing Fwds who dont even play the PK (cough, Matthews)contend for the Selke, and already became a team Captain while becoming above a PPG player according to you defining players based off small sample sizes Nico's 35pts in his last 30 games prove all I said above plus he also broke out this season from a .65PPG T-W C to 1.1666 PPG putting him ahead of Robertsons 1 current season at a PPG.

Canucks are my 2nd favourite team but Petey can be painful defensively at times and has always been inconsistent. He is pretty much useless when he isn't scoring so it's really noticeable.
@@AceMatthew25414 You’re definitely not a Canucks fan or know what you’re talking about. Pettersson is great defensively and was a top 5 C in 19-20 season. He’s definitely not inconsistent if hes at 0.90 ppg in his career. Robertson is playing with Pavelski and Hintz who are ppg players and his stats are inflated. Petterssons been playing with bums this season with a wrist injury and no training camp. You’ll be eating your words next season with Petey puts up 40+ goals 100 points
And Petey is still coming off his career high in points/goals under Boudreau. He would easily be a 100 pt player if healthy and if we had Boudreau from the start.

I would take Suzuki over Petterson...Montreal and Vancouver are my favourite teams and have watched ALOT of both, not saying Im a professional or anyone has to agree just my opinion has genuine reason.

I knew that draft Nolan Patrick was over hyped not to mention constantly hurt
no he wasnt overhyped, he was at the time of the draft easily a top 3 player in the draft class, eventually the injuries took over and prevented him from ever being a good NHLer let alone reaching his ceiling.
he only got around 14 minutes of toi/gp in philly, while suffering from injuries.
he missed the entire 19-20 season and has only played 77 games from 20-21 to 21-22.
if not for injuries he wouldve been a 35-40-75 point center, maybe even a 45-40-85 point center

It would be pretty embarrassing if Thomas didn’t have more points than Nico since he’s been playing with two elite wingers the entire season on a good team while Nico was playing with Jimmy Vesey on his line for half the season.
@@donfromregularshow4469 just a quick look at his scoring logs on Hockey References show that Vesey has assisted on one Hischier goal in January. Beyond that nothing. So he’s not really stuck with Vesey at all. Jack Hughes on the other hand, that’s another story. Plenty of scoring between the two
