Shoutout to Drake Batherson one of the most underrated players in the league. His mom used to be my 4th grade teacher and we always knew he was great at hockey. Just didn't know he was all star level good

If you do a 2015 redraft, consider doing a entire first round redraft. There’s just so much talent to choose from

THIS ^ obviously do this idea sparingly, it’s a lot of work on your part, but 2015 is worth the whole first round imo. 2009 as well. That draft was fun

Fun fact about Drake Batherson: he was eligible for the 2016 draft and no one selected him. Ottawa's scouts did their homework!
He was actually a 6th round pick in the qmjhl a year late as well. Been following his career since the beginning and no one expected him to be this good not even himself
It could be that he trains with Crosby Mackinnion and Marchand all off season, everyday.
The steals in this draft are crazy with J. Robertson being a 2nd round pick and Batherson being a 4th round pick

I’m just here to say as a Stars fan I’m so thankful for Miro and Robo being here. Miro won’t get a lot of recognition for playing in Dallas unfortunately, but he has such a strong skill set and is extremely strong defensively, you watch him and he can really read what’s going on around him. In my opinion, he’ll be the next captain once Jamie leaves. And Robo, well, I don’t think I need to say much, everyone has fallen in love with him for good reason.
Just imagine him with a head coach that isnt a dinosaur and if he actually got more ice time with the top line cause holy shit hes rarely out there with the top line he could easily be a 60 point dman

Love the content, I'd like to see this format applied to the 2013 Entry Draft. As a Pens fan I'm curious if Jake Guenzel would be considered a top 10 pick or not.
Martin Necas has played Center at most 5 times since making the NHL. I have no idea WHERE this belief stems from that he has played center when it's never been a thing since being drafted. I'm very confident he will remain a winger for the foreseeable future.
Maybe I'm biased Finnish but I would rate Heiskanen #2, hes skating ability is so good and he moves puck so well.
Agree, but I’m biased finn too. That said Pettersson-Heiskanen comparison is very close one. Makar is best player from the draft by a f**king country mile.

Very good list, although the only thing i would change is putting Thomas 5th overall, sure as a blues fan i may be somewhat biased but what im seeing from him is imo incredible, i really think he could turn out to become one of the best playmakers of this generation, his ability to create chances and find open teammates is spectacular and he is starting to become really reliable defensively as well, shown by the fact that he often gets the most ice time among blues forwards, even more than ROR
It would be fun to hear what you think about the players that fell out of the top 10 with your redraft (Nolan Patrick etc. in this case)
Interesting seeing the subtle changes in your 2017 redrafts from 2 years ago to this one (3 months ago).

Heiskanen over Petterson pretty easily for me. I like both players but Heiskanen is honestly underrated. You know he could put up point per game numbers as he's done it in the playoffs, but chooses to refine his style defensively instead. All while playing for the Dallas Stars which use a very defensive system.
Heiskanen is relentless defensively and okay offensively

It’s too early to judge him honestly since he was just okay last year, Spent time in the AHL to start the season this year, and was splitting starting time with Holtby for most of the year until recently.
Fun Fact: 95% of Philly's scouts wanted Philly to draft Makar. But that 5% believed Patrick would've fit Philly much better and their votes were the ones that mattered.
yeah yeah yeah, how many times have we heard this? Every team says this after a few years, "we wanted that guy, BUT..." its all bullshit and excuses, said by people to save their asses. Hindsight is 20/20.

Although i do think Heiskanen would go #2, easier to find a Petey then a #1 d men such as Heiskanen imo.
Pettersson is more of a game breaker than Heiskanen...he really elevates his game during playoffs and meaningful games like he did in the world it's, his shl mvp championship season and bubble Canucks playoffs

@@Mauritz361 that’s cool but both him and the stars have been consistently good for awhile now. let’s see if it last for the Canucks first. I hope they do keep it up and are able to make playoffs. Canucks are my favorite Canadian team.
Red Wings were looking for Holmstrom II and thought Michael Rasmussen was their guy. They knew going in to that draft year Michaels even strength goal tally in the WHL was not great, but the PP was where it was at. Since then he had to restructure his skating mechanics and has more mobility out on the ice. Can be a dangerous scorer but has hands of stone at moments. Still a work in progress but can provide some physical edge. So for 9th overall he probably could have been available a few picks later. Missing on Necas sort of hurts, but Holland and Tylor Wright really miss fired on talent evals by the dozens.

S1 = 15-32-47 pts
S2 = 22-38-60 pts
S3 = 19-39-58 pts
My top 5 =
1) Makar
2) Heiskanen
3) Pettersson
4) Hischier
5) Robertson (need to see another season of his to see if this season is a career season or if he can keep this up)

He is as good offensively as Hischier and WAYYY ABOVE hischier in term of an all around player. Suzuki is the better player.
I think this version is better since people really love an underdog story. would love to see a late round pick end up 1st overall
Suzuki better than Hischier?! And defensively too you're joking?! By what metric? Nico has a clear edge in faceoffs, take aways and give aways. They're close in corsi, blocks and offensively with hits being the only category Suzuki has over Nico.

Much better format, fun idea would give an option on where the top 10 should have been drafted
Prefer this format, well done. There are a couple of things i'd like to see added. First, a list of the entire first round redraft. i think only discussing the first 10 picks is a good choice but it would be cool to see how you have the rest of the first playing out. of course if there's any real stand-out selections - a steal, a big jump, or the perfect player for that particular team by all means discuss that but beyond that just a graphic would be fine.
second, i think when discussing the top ten, i'd encourage you to talk briefly about who was taken and why they don't work at that spot. if it's simply a case of another player being better and rising to the top then no discussion needed but in the case of someone being a bust, or having injury issues, etc, maybe a quick note.
beyond that entertaining content. keep it up.

I much prefer this version of the re-draft. Gotta hard disagree though on Petterson at #2. Yes he should be really good but back to back seasons where he struggled yet heiskanen has only gotten better every year. I'd take miro over elias anyday.

As a Flyers fan it pains me deeply how Nolan Patrick panned out for the organization. Nothing against Patrick as a person or anything, but man this team would not be falling apart at the seams if they had Makar, Heiskanen, or Pettersson

Dallas won this draft Robertson, Heiskanen and Oettinger not to mention basically 2 potebtial solid depth guys with Studenic off of waivers and Peterson

Just from Necas’s skill alone, I could actually see him being able to put up 80+ points
It's crazy how two players on this list are on the Senators and neither of them were their first round pick.

New style i like way better...should redo the 2016 draft class since Fox was picked 66, Debrincat was picked 39, McAvoy picked 14th and many more examples.
