      @@gzwelmo Rich Peverley at the time was the best value player in hockey. Plus Boston was cap dumping to be able to get Thomas Kaberle. It wasn't at all a bad trade at the time. And it still took Wheeler several more season to really become elite. In the mean time with Perverley the Bruins won a stanley cup and a different year Pev's was the Bruins leading scorer in the playoffs. So that's a trade you do all day every day.

      That was an insane turn of events bc O’Reilly came to the blues and was their only consistent player for the first half of the year, but they were at the bottom of the standings. Then the impossible happened and they not only climbed their way back up the ladder, but they won the f**king cup! • @etiendre
      @etiendre Před 2 lety

      Hated that trade, as a French Canadian, I feel like Moslon thinks having “quebecois” players is all we think about. Puck moving defensemen like Sergachev don’t come by often. I don’t hate Drouin. He is a great playmaker but Markov’s role was never replaced when he left Montreal and that hurt a lot.
      I’m pretty sure that was not Bergevin’s trade but that was Molson’s to find a “quebecois de service” to please French Canadians. It’s all speculation but that’s my take. And Molson has a reputation of getting too involved even though he denies it.

    The Tomas Tatar trade to Vegas. Vegas gave up a first, second & third pick over 3 years to Detroit. Tatar doesn’t work out, so Vegas trades Tatar, Suzuki, a second round pick and retained some of Tatar’s salary to get Pacioretti. So that trade in the end cost VGK a 1st, two 2nd round picks, a 3rd round pick, Tatar, Suzuki & some cap space to get Pacioretti. Then Suzuki & Co. eliminate Pacioretti’s Golden Knights.

    As a Bruins fan, the 2015 draft is haunting. The B’s had picks #13, #14, and #15 and they picked Zboril, DeBrusk, and Senyshyn respectively. The haunting part is the list of guys that were picked AFTER that. Barzel (#16), Kyle Connor (#17), Chabot (#18), Boeser (#23), Konecny (#24), and Beauvillier (#28). I know hindsight is 20/20, but that’s just a handful of guys we missed out on that year.

He's had like two great offensive years in his career and otherwise has been a good offensive player who doesn't do anything else. And for a big guy he's weak on the puck. There are reasons why this guys bounced around a bunch. And it's not because he's an amazing player. It's because he's an expensive 1 dimensional guy that you have to build around for him to be effective.

      I’m comparing their performance over the last 5 years.
      You’re comparing Larsson’s performance in 4 games to Hall’s performance in 11 games.
      That’s like saying “Larsson had more points than Hall on Tuesday afternoons in 2017 so the oilers obviously won the trade”.
      Ridiculous comparison.
      LMAOOOOOOOO

      @@thejollyrancher6713 Yea it has to be 5 years so you can include his outlier season. Why not whole careers? Larsson has been a very good shutdown defender who is capped at 4 mill while Hall is a 60-70 points one dimensional forward who caps @ 8 mill.
      The trade is still bad but looking at Halls career it didnt turn AS bad as it initially looked. Chia is still a klutz.

    I think the Burns trade was not that bad. The wild got 3 players for one and went in a different direction from Burns who was going to get a huge pay increase. The Wild have not had issues defensively over the last decade. That has been their strength so even if it didn't pan out the way they wanted to it didn't hurt the wild that much.

    You could now add the Fleury trade to Chicago. It was disgusting of a move. Hasn't been the same since he was traded out of Vegas for us. Lehner is solid and capable, but he doesn't have the same clutch/lights out stuff like fleury. We need him back, or send him back to Pittsburgh to finish his career there. Can't believe how we traded him. So wrong to do

      1. Locker room issues can be a factor for signings or tradings. Look at the Evander Kane "locker room cancer" issue right now.
      Ignoring this, I could see you saying something along the lines of "Kane is a legit 30-goal scorer, but yet 31 other teams passed on him, making him the biggest GM blunder of the 2021-22 season" when in fact he's worthless.
      2. What caused my comment was the fact that your speech came off as professional reporting. You sounded like you know what you're talking about, and you sounded trustworthy. But I know that you're omitting a lot of important information, thus becoming misleading journalism. That's why I had to point that out to other people. If you sounded like Gilbert Godfried, I wouldn't have said anything.
      3. Fact of the matter is, contract status, impending free agency, and salary cap are some of the most important factors that determine the trade value of a given player. For example, the fact that both Jeff Carter and Jacob Voracek with RFAs when the trade happened was an important factor, as their new salary cap hits were undetermined at that time. Voracek ended up signing for just one year, meaning that, at that time, the Flyers had no idea that they wouldn't lose him after that season.

    FYI, Richards and Carter didn't want out of Philly, they loved it here and were really pissed they were traded and separated as they became great friends coming through the system. The issue was they were partying too much, photos were making it around local newspapers and the management/coaches couldn't get them to chill out. Holmgren also wanted Bryzgalov and to free up the cap space he traded both Richards and Carter an hour or so before signing Bryz to that redonkulous contract.

    • @NPAMike
      @NPAMike Před 2 lety

      Yea imagine if that trade doesn't happen. You keep them you don't sign Bryzgalov and you still have Bobrovsky. The guy who later became a 2 time vezina winner.

  • @needmoreramsay
    @needmoreramsay Před 2 lety

    You mention Erat went pointless in the first round exit vs NY but fail to mention an important fact: "New York dispatched the higher-ranked Capitals in seven games and Erat missed the final three contests after a collision with Ovechkin and Derek Stepan." Missing half the series because of injury is a major factor in going pointless.

    • @needmoreramsay
      @needmoreramsay Před 2 lety

      Also, you state Nashville ended up drafting 4th "because of the trade", when in reality the entire team lost a lot of games, elevating their draft position. There's a big difference between trade analyses vs. fabricating a narrative.
