I gotta disagree with you on Sens picking Boucher as a loss. I actually like this pick. Could they have traded down, sure..but Edmonton did it too and look how that went. After 10, the picks went all over the place, so they picked the guy that fits their mold over best player available, and in a weak draft..not a bad move. Boucher gives DJ Smith so many options on the 4 lines. Boucher with Stutzle..protection and can still produce. Boucher with Tkachuk..theres gonna be a ton of hurt for the opposition. The big tandem in my opinion, pair Boucher with Grieg. they will draw a ton of penalties. Thats like pairing a Gallagher with a Brad Marchant. For what Boucher can bring to this team, and Im sure there were a lot of scouts eyeing Boucher, I think he could potentially be the steal no one saw coming, but time will tell, and I really dont think they lost if they got their guy, which Im sure he was near the top of the Sens list. The pick is only a flop if he doesnt make the roster, but if he keeps progressing, he will make the roster.
LA had a great draft IMO. Clarke was an absolute gift, traded up for pinelli and that’s gonna be an absolute steal
All the picks played overseas in quality leagues. So that experience will benefit even more!
I definitely agree I was really nervous a quality defenseman wouldn't be at 8. Brandt Clarke might even have a slight edge over Hughes since he played with men. I'm excited about Pinelli too he's a natural center but can play the wing.

Just looking at what Holland did, I'm so thankful Chris Ilitch saw the light a few years ago and got Stevie back. Holland would still be burying our roster with vanilla picks. Stevie is aggressive and knows what he wants. Can't wait to see what the Red Wings look like in 2-3 years.

I dont agree. To me it is easy to see that he loves hockey. Some people are just like that. I am that way with college football. Especially when it come to WEST VIRGINIA MOUNTAINEERS. Judd Bracket said the Wallstedt, Lambos and Peart were all in the Wild’s top 20 players. Wild with another great draft and adding to their already stacked prospect pool.

Hey grav what did you think of the avs draft? I'm just a casual fan so I don't know who we got really.
The Avs did very solid I thought, Olausson and Behrens could both fit very well into the Avs system, and considering they only had 4 picks, they did quite well!
We really won't know who won or lost until a couple years down the line, or at least that's what I tell myself as a sens fan.

I think the isles could have had the steal of the draft because raty was the projected 1st overall pick a few years ago and if he can bounce back it will be a massive pick for the island
While the Wild weren't expecting Wallstedt to fall to the 20th pick and weren't going to pick him unless he fell to that spot, the Wild needed to address their goaltending eventually. Kahkonen could likely be a career backup, and they don't know what they have with Hunter Jones until he plays a full season in the AHL. Now with Jones and Wallstedt, in a couple of years, the Wild won't have to worry about goaltending for a long time which could be nice.

Honestly the Sabres probably their best draft in years, Stiven Sardarian is probably the biggest reach out of their list but they could've done much worse. 8.5/10.

The Pegula's were able to get the Bills to be a really good team after 17 yrs of crap, so I'm hoping they can do the same for the Sabres.

I love it when everyone doubts Pierre Doirion. I trust him, he’s done very well so far and everyone is always talking trash about the picks when they happen. I also think it’s an organizational need type thing and it’s dumb to be mad they didn’t get Wallstedt. We don’t need a goalie so why waste a pick on him. Sens ‘’lose draft’’ every year somehow their prospect pool is top5 in the league let’s see how this one ages.
And it’s happening again which is what makes me so much more happy with this draft. Boucher is also extremely underrated but people just stare at rankings and say what the heck he’s bad
Do you think Calgary's prospect pool is top 15?
For Edmonton what you seem to be missing is that Edmonton already has good goaltending and good defensive prospects we don't need another one that won't make the team in the next couple years, we need Secondary scoring that can slot on the 3rd or 4th lines Xavier can play on the wing in addition to being a center.

Ducks had a great draft tbh. Overlooked by many. McTavish is a bit of a reach at 3 but he's still really good and a 1-2 punch with Zegras and him could get really really good. Zellweger could have easily gone in the 1st round and has Top 4 Defenseman potential. With him and Drysdale the Ducks have 2 two-way d-men with elite skating abilities who could be lethal in the offensive zone together. Pastujov should've been a first rounder imo. His skating isn't great but that's something that can be improved rather easily compared to other areas of the game. Tschigerl was a great pick, who knows how Hinds turns out and Kukkonen is an exciting project. A 6'7" goalie prospect in Alexander is good as well.

The New York islanders picking Raty was a steal.He was a former #1 prospect.Had a down year, but if he regains his form the isles will look really good in taking him when they did.

Yeah and all the Instagram scouts and stuff are mad they didn’t take a goalie when they already got a great goaltending prospect pool. It’s also hard not to trust Pierre Dorian after his track record of taking players people think aren’t good and they end up good

I think Don Sweeney made some good choices drafting this year. He picked up some good players that dropped.

Canes silently just solidified their pool as the 2nd best in the whole league after LA (becomes the best the moment Byfield Turcotte and Kaliyev play as rookies next season).
I'm not going to lie I started losing my mind after trading out of the 1st round mainly after all the players we've lost so far this offseason. But my gosh, Morrow Heimosalmi and Koivunen ALL IN ROUND 2!? LOOVE those picks so much at I thought all were 1st round talents (I'm personally super high on Koivunen being the best Finn in the draft)

@@GravitehHockey I left the draft numb, devastated over the poor return in Buch, and the draft was like finding ice cream topped with dog poop instead of a cherry. I wasn’t hot on trading for Eichel, now I fear if we do get him Drury will get fleeced again.

Well I just got clickbaited. Thought you would say something about the red wings having one of their picks in your thumbnail. Guess not lol
Might be biased but I think the Wings should be top five maybe even top three. Edvinsson sounds like he’s going to be a star and also fits the “really tall defenseman” build that Stevie Y is going for at 6’4”. Then Cossa at 6’6” looks pretty good too. Stevie has a good track record with goalies that big. I would even say Buium looks good. Great skating abilities and ability to move the puck.
The Habs will win big from this draft, but you have to be patient to see the results. Potentially get the second best D in the draft in exchange for serious awareness campaign. For the second year the Habs get the second best D in the draft picking 16th and 30th, well done Marc!

Coyotes already came out and said that they chose some of the picks for the character and passed up on some talent instead. Doan also was a great pick. He's only been getting better and better over the past year and then the culture aspect of him being a Doan and always playing in AZ, great pick and was said to be climbing up boards. I'm sure you've seen by now but plenty of non believers in Raty so I'm glad they passed on him like many others. Can't speak outside of the first two picks but the first two were really good picks even though they could've got Stechoven
Yeah I was super shocked that Edmonton did not take Jesper Wallstedt either. I thought for sure he was not going to fall to them and then... they just blew it. That is the main thing keeping them from a Stanley Cup. I'm starting to think they just don't want to win.
Surprised MTL isn't in the losers. Took Mailloux and Gave Duke to TB.

Amazing trade... Picking up Connor Garland, and Ekman-Larsson was a steal..! Sure, Benning gave up the 9th overall pick (Guenther). And a 2nd round pick in 2022... But Garland is a special player, and will light it up on Vancouver.
Ekman-Larsson, is still a really good top 4 defenseman, and can play both special teams. If the Nucks get 5 years out of him, it's a huge win..!
At the end of the day, Benning got 2 great roster players, and shed some cap in the process... Arizona received 2 good draft picks... The 2nd rounder in 2022, will be a later pick.
If you play OEL on your PK you have an issue...
You can't judge these picks for another 2-3 years!!
