Every Avenger has their signature weapon. Captain America has his shield. Hawkeye has his bow and arrow. Falcon has… a wonderful personality? But there might not be a more iconic pairing than Thor and Mjolnir, his trusty hammer. That’s why it was so devastating when Hela destroyed Mjolnir in Thor: Ragnarok. It felt like we were losing part of the God of Thunder himself!
But the one bright side of the hammer being destroyed is that it set Thor on a path to get a new weapon, an even better one capable of taking on Thanos and ending the Mad Titan once and for all. After a very difficult quest, Thor acquired the mighty axe Stormbreaker and the weapon proved to be one of the most awesome weapons we’ve seen in the MCU so far.
But eagle-eyed viewers noticed something interesting about Thor’s new weapon. Stormbreaker seems to emit blue fire instead of electricity. Why is that? If we dive into Thor’s comic history and his previous MCU outings, the answer becomes pretty clear!
So today’s video is all about Stormbreaker and highlights some of the weapon’s amazing abilities. We’ll be talking about Stormbreaker’s origins and how it differs from the comic side of things, while also theorizing what it means for the axe’s future. So go ahead and check out the video below, and be sure to leave a comment and subscribe afterwards or we’ll turn your hands to stone!

i feel like i’m the only one who thought it was actually lightning and never thought of blue fire...
Nah I thought it was lightning too
Same. I figured it was high concentration of magical lightning.
Well, you’re not my friend. You’re not.
Maybe its cuz it was forged like a couple of mins ago and its extremely hot
I just thought i was seeing things
The blue fire isn't Stormbreaker's power, Thor is using it to channel his energy just like he did with his hammer. It glows brighter because it is a larger weapon and Thor has tapped in to his true potential so he has stronger lightning abilities than he did before Ragnarok.
That’s actually a good reason
if that is true look at the mjolnir when thor dual wields compare it does it hve blue flames
i didint mean to dislike sorry
i ment too press hide replies
@@jirenthegrey5754 good point. I personally don’t think mjulneir (hope I spelled that right) would ignite because it’s simply not as powerful as Stormbreaker.
He repeats the same damn thing throughout the video

Honestly, the way you pronounce things in the Marvel universe is so infuriating.
Slaid Michel thank you it pissed me of to

“Ni-da-vile-ear” smh
So annoying... If you're gonna make vids about the MCU, please watch the movies so u can pronounce words properly...
THANK YOU
when I see the stormbreaker axe:
the weapon that should've gone for the head.......
That was a good one. I feel the same.
It's not sentient.
I always wished that he’d have snatched the axe out of Thanos’ chest and hack his (left) arm off, but I suppose he was too bent on driving it deeper into his chest. Armchair superhero!! It’s so easy to watch and think, “oh that’s what I would’ve done.” I know, I know.
@@jackdurden466 actually, when heimdall died, thanos plunged a spear in his chest. Then, Thor does the same to Thanos with stormbreaker. He wanted thanos to die the way heimdall did.
“How to make a 10 minute video about a 2 minute answer”
repeat repeat repeat lol
Tht is CBR's specialty
He needs money
@@TheRareOne no lol if you notice his vids almost always cut off around 10 because on CZcams you get more views with 10 minute+ video than a 2 minute one and therefore more money . It’s why a lot of of what he says just repeats and stretches stuff out , he wants to meet the 10 minute mark
Literally just says why does stormbreaker emit blue fire

It's not iron
MR. BLACK that’s the point, Stormbreaker doesn’t have blue fire
@@TheLalalaMan I know
It’s gold titanium alloy
@@TheLalalaMan did you not watch the video? Cus i understand if you didn't notice the blue fire in infinity war (cus i didn't notice it myself the first time i saw the film) but stormbreaker does have blue fire aura around it, it even shows it in the thumbnail of this video, it would have been awesome if thor got blue fire powers
This doesn’t explain why it’s on fire though
Still fresh from the forge
Colin Grimm straight outta asgardian hell (forgot the actual name)
Because Thor is the God of Crash and Burn.
@@6lack863 its called Hel with one l
Agree. I see no fire. Lightning yes
It just occurred to me that there is an Asgardian weapon that does produce blue flame, which is Hofund, Heimdall's sword. Like Stormbreaker, the sword is also capable of summoning the Bifrost so maybe that's what they were going for.
He didn’t explain how it has fire instead of lightning
Actually he did if u listen closely he says that mlojnir shoots lightning because it possess the power of Thor
But since stormbreaker doesn't have an enchantment for just Thor's powers it's open to using other abilities
@@omolemokgaile551 but captian amerika uses lightning
@@travisoliana5694 Exactly because the hammer posses the power of Thor which is lightning
It's nothing magic, it's called St. Elmo's Fire.
It happens all the time.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Elmo%27s_fire
@@omolemokgaile551 ok you were the only one to actually give an explanation
Actually this flame comes from Thor. If you notice when cap holds it, flames off and when thor returnes it flames up again 🤔
Because mjolnir mastered firebending over the years and stormbreaker is still learning
Lol
Lol good one
Bruhh
Light Yagami Hahahahahahahahaha
Lmao
Stormbreaker only emits that blue flame when Thor is holding it... like when cap and him swapped the flame came on after it went back in Thor’s hand. I think it’s to do with the heat coming off of the lightning it’s channeling
Rastah Mouse yeah it’s probably just something like that, or just enhancing his power more than mjolnir did
I don’t remember seeing fire lol I don’t see it
@@almightyqdogg just look at stormbreaker in this vid or just look up thors entrance in wakanda and you'll see it
I think it’s cause storm breakers stronger cause you know blue fire is stronger than red fire and lightning causes red fire so yeah something like that
Or it’s the same colour as his lightning. Would look ridiculous if there was a red flame and blue lightning.
next video: how iron man's suit is actually made of diamond
Next video: how spiderman's webs are made of cheese
Next video: how groot is made up of metal instead of (wood?)
And so on....
Lol this is for laughs don't take it seriously

Next video: How the Red Skull was actually Skeletor
Ashwini Nir 😂
true lol
What thor ate to become fat
Next video: how hulks dabs effect the timeline of the mcu
So here is my reason why stormbreaker is coated with blue fire. In infinity war, in order to create stormbreaker was to take energy from a star. And then when groot was making the handle out of his arm, because he is a plant, the weapon was in flames, but mixed with Thor’s lightning, it turns into blue fire.
He doesn't explain anything other than "stormbreaker is different from mjolnir"
That’s the point. The MCU changes certain aspects of the comics.
Jane should be named thoress or Valkyrie. The prime Valerie since looks like one with armor one and her size must be increased too to fit the role as a Valkyrie.
In the comics, the "prime" valkyrie was named Brunhilda or Brunhilde.
I for one definitely like Miljnior more than Stormbreaker. One of the reasons why is just because it doesn't have the worthy enchantment upon it which means anyone can lift and use it. The other reason is it's just too damn big. You can't twirl and whip Stormbreaker like Miljnoir. Plus you could just lay Miljnoir on and enemy and they would not be able to move or get up because of that enchantment very unique unlike Stormbreaker.
The hammer never summond the bifrost
I noticed that too the video says it clearly and it annoyed me, but I find it more annoying to watch a video with the title why stormbreaker has blue flame and wasting 10 minutes of my time to see a backstory video about things we already know.
@@agsmith10 ikr, fuck!!!
anthony bissonnette cuz it cant
@KZ KRZY ye soz just realised what u meant lol 😂
It actually did, remember asgard and the device to control the bifrost was destroyed in ragnorok? And he used the bifrost with stormbreaker in infinity war in wakanda after ragnorok
SUPERMAN : (GOES FOR THE CHEST in BVS and it works )
THOR : (GOES FOR THE CHEST, it doesn't work ) so he lied?😂
Thanos is more durable than doomsday.
Like Thanos said "You should have gone for the head."
Also, there are a host of other errors in this video including the fact that Mjolnir cannot summon the bifrost!
its MILNIR. you should listen carefuly
Žiga Kastelic but actually spelled Mjölnir. I know how it is pronounced as did some Norse mythology at school.
How can mjolnir summon the bifrost
Lightning create blue fire
This didn’t explain shit.
IM 7 and NO SWEARING 🤬
@@thelifeoffinlay5727 dude what are you doing on the interwebs at age 7? Where's your parents for c.s.? Smh. I'm glad you're into comics though, I started at a young age as well and now in my 40s.
THE BLUE FIRE RESSEMBLES THOR'S RAGE ON THANOS KILLING LOKI 😂
I don't know or his friend that gets killed by thanos
I think he was more pissed about Heimdall than Loki, as it’s after Thanos kills Heimdall he says “you’re going to die for that” I’m sure that a Loki’s demise greatly upset him, but he probably had some slight reservations about him truly being dead, again.
You can take my bending any day, JUST BRING BACK LOKI! 😭😭😢😢😭😭😭
Incorrect; Mjolnir didn’t give the power of flight, it only dragged someone along after being spun incredibly fast! Stormbreaker grants the power of flight!

The power Thor gets after his daddy dies

The Squadron Supreme should be in the MCU!
When Thanos said "you should have gone for the head", I was thinking you should have gone for the arm.
I had a hammer made of something similar to Uru. A hammer made of yohoo. It was smithed in Vaudeville.
Talking about it being on blue fire isn't the same as stating WHY it is on fire.
He explained it. The MCU wanted to set Stormbreaker apart from Mjolnir, blue fire isn’t comic accurate.
@@nate8604 yeah, that's the developmental reason, but what is the canon / in story reason?
@@TheSoloManiac I just assume it's plasma irradiating off of it from the shear amount of various energies surging through it.

- Why Stormbreaker uses blue fire?
- I don't know
- Fair enough
Love Stormbreaker
Why didn't he just go for Thanos's left arm i mean it's not like he can return in time anymore...
BigBrain pooh because thanos’s skin is basically impenetrable I’m pretty sure the only reason Thor was capable of cutting of thanos’s head is because he was already permanently damaged
Then why did he go for the armoured part of his body?
Wow I never noticed that
I love this video and can't wait for love and thunder
How can 18 people be first. Like clarify😂

Thanks for not answering the main question of the video, appreciate it.
Unecessarily long video... up to end never really expained why it has a blue flame.
VoiD
.Thor actually comes from the original god of thunder and fire the African god Shango; this is before the comic books and before Norse mythology in terms of Roman mythology, Thor is an African deity from the African mythology!!

Slasher2000 yeah well I have for 4 years

It emits fire because it looks badass
Maybe stormbreaker lighting is so hot it produces blue fire
It's not "blue fire" it's "blue lightning"
Take another look please.

Next video: “Why hasn’t Tony Stark made his suits out of Vibranium?”
Post more videos on this topic please.
I mean Thor did learn to cast the Odin runes and add his own spells in their love and thunder when all the asgardian children were temporarily worthy when fighting gorr. And he unknowingly added the spell to mjolnir too when he asked it to protect Jane
Mjolnir couldn't summon the bifrost. Thor always asked heimdall to open the bifrost when he had Mjolnir. Eitri imbued stormbreaker with the same enchantments he had done with Mjolnir, but also with asgardian dark magic so he can summon the bifrost. The same dark magic heimdall used to send the hulk back in the beginning of infinity war.
That information is concrete but this part I read from an unconfirmed article that eitri had made the infinity gauntlet, so he knew what magic would be able to overpower the infinity gauntlet. So when eitri made stormbreaker, he could have had enchanted it with magic that could allow stormbreaker to bypass the power of the infinity gauntlet instead of being destroyed by the power of 6 infinity stones.
It would make sense, since eitri had created both the infinity gauntlet and stormbreaker, so who's to say that he hadn't put a fail safe into the thanos infinity gauntlet when he had created it?
Glad you took the time to point that out so I didn't have to. Thanks.
Who is going to be the main antagonist of Thor 4 love and Thunder between the Enchantress, Gorr the God butcher and Mangog?
I cant wait to see Thor Love and Thunder.
I had legit noticed this
Do a top 5 marvel films
It's on fire bcs of its immense power which could corrupt one's mind if someone too weak weilds it, the fire is also from the ever lasting heat of a sun it was made from
Storm Breaker is meant to be the strongest weapon in Asgard so I’m not surprised but not gonna lie this surprised me
I’ve got to admit it does look like it has some kind of flame but mostly uses lighting
How stormbreaker was able to tear through the combined attack of infinity stones by thanos?
Strombreaker hell yeah and that was awesome know what give me strombreaker here you take this one😭still snap fingers how much for that I'm arm Iron man stan Lee thor new weapon best one to be in the end game movie great video and snap fingers I'm mr. 3000
I was hoping you'd explain why blue fire is so important or powerful lorewise
Yes
I think that may be because of the lightning that produce a very hot fire double stronger than the orange one
Next video: why spider man is actually a spider that got bitten by a radioactive man
Hammer and Axe are both cool
I honestly like your Thor 4 theory
Me too
Two different types of stormbreakers. The golden shorter handle with even the handle made of uru is for beta ray bill. The big gray one had a smaller axe blade and hammer part more hammerish look came from the ultimate universe
The real awnser..
“Hulk like raging fire. Thor like Pitts Fire”
No to mention that the design on the MCU's Stormbreaker is based on the Hammer/Axe version of Mjolnir of the Ultimate universe
Super saiyan blue and Dabi: Stormbreaker is the one of our power.
Looks the same to me especially when he wields both hammers
Your videos are awesome, but in a 10 minute video on lore and general information about stuff we already know. Still waiting for the question to be answered. So why does strombreaker have a blue flame?
I love stormbreaker and the blue flame is the aura of gods
I new it was blue fire but I also realized in endgame it was mostly thunder and a bit in infinity war so it is both
Go Stormbreaker!,!!
I love stormbreker
