Great overview. S8 isn’t for everyone but is pretty great if you can afford it.
Couldn’t agree more, sadly I’ve only been able to shoot 2-3 rolls for my own memories but dozens for my wedding clients, paying for Super 8 I think is a wonderful investment for those memories.

When you receive the overscan, what are the dimensions of the video?
If you go through the checkout process (on Pro8mm link below) you can actually check this for yourself based on the options you choose.
£4 to £5.00 per reel, and you would kickstart the market. People would really go out and get 10 rolls in order to make a full half hour movie

I think you have to learn how to crop the film samples that you’re showing.
Perfs or sprockets. Are not supposed to be seen..
Cropped, Uncropped, borders, sprockets, etc. it’s all beautiful :)
@@johnstamw How so? When I was with Granada Television's film unit and then later the BBC film unit. If we did any work like that with both 35mm and Super 16. People would be sacked.
I just feel that when people do things like showing the perts, not cropping, poor colour correction, and getting poor scans done. it does a poor service to super 8 and gives the impression that super 8 was a bad format.
Also one way to save all the costs you mention is by doing your own processing.
As for Super 8 cameras there are many sites in Japan where you can buy new old stock Argus, Canon, and Bolex cameras, that have upgraded quartz motors to sync sound starting at 60 Euros.
I actually like the over scanned look :)
