I've had a Canon 814 XL-S that has been sitting on my desk as a paperweight for some years and recently have started to use it again and I'm loving it! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge and look forward to more videos from you!

    Probably someone already wrote this, but you kinda misunderstood the concept of the Kodak Super8 camera. It records on tape but gives you an electrical view finder / screen to improve framing etc. The only thing that it does records digitally is the sound. You still need to get the films processed etc. But it's a cool camera anyway. Great video BTW! Keep them coming!

    • @ZackDowdy
      @ZackDowdy  Před 4 lety

      Zachary Bergamin I didn’t use any filters. Think of the sun/tungsten setting as a filter! So if you’re working with Tungsten film and you’re inside, you would use the sun filter to counter balance the tungsten film.

If I'm shooting say, a bride and groom at teh alter, than walking back down the aisle towards me, should I focus on (zoom in to get focus then zoom out) the couple at the alter? • @christopher1931
      @christopher1931 Před 4 lety

      jss 250ASA is perfect for 500T. Kodak recommends over exposing by one stop anyways for this film. You’ll get finer grain. The V3 color negative stocks have a lot of latitude so don’t worry about over exposing. If yr using the tungsten setting and filming outside use a screw on 85 filter or color correct in post.

    • @christopher1931
      @christopher1931 Před 4 lety

      what kinda of camera and film are you using? if you set to daylight, the camera’s internal 85 filter will flip into place to give the proper color temperature when yr shooting tungsten film in daylight. but generally those internal filters get dirty and old so its probably best to set the switch to tungsten so the internal filter is disengaged and use an good screw on 85 filter at the front of the lens, or you can color correct in post. The camera will read the film at different ASA values depending on which setting you have the switch on

    • @ZackDowdy
      @ZackDowdy  Před 4 lety

      Leave the switch in daylight if you’re shooting outdoors with tungsten, this will act as a counter balance to warm up the image.

      @metalfingersfilm Před 4 lety

      @@ZackDowdy interesting, so theoretically if I'm shooting e100 outside, what would i shoot? sorry Im confused lol

    • @Regsfoto
      @Regsfoto Před 4 lety +1

      @@metalfingersfilm E100 would be used outdoors, no correction needed. You can use any film anywhere, what you need to know is how to correct the film you're using for the situation you are in. Most Kodak color films are Tungsten but not all, there's two that are daylight natively, the 50D, the Ektachrome 100D. The more modern Super-8 cameras will "know" what type of film (Daylight or Tungsten) is put into it and will engage the compensating filter switch for use. So what you do with the switch is if you're going to be outdoors with Tungsten (T) film, use the "sun" (or whatever symbol that particular camera manufacturer used for outdoors) setting and it'll put the built in compensating filter into the optical path correcting the light to match the films native color balance. Uncorrected tungsten film in daylight will look blue, the compensating filter looks amber but to Tungsten film that level of additional orange compensation is what's needed for that film to make it correct (i.e. colors look natural). Then if you then move indoors you'd put the switch into the bulb position which takes it out, removing the correction since it is not needed for that situation. And then if you go back outside remember to put the switch back in etc. Consult your cameras manual as to how your particular camera handles this. If you didn't get a manual with your camera (this is not usual these days) usually you probably can find one through a Google search for most of the major makes (Canon, Minolta, Chinon, Beaulieu, Braun, Nikon and there are many more). I hope this helps!

      @christopher1931 Před 4 lety +1

      Jack Loechner You should be able to find a manual for the 310 on google. usually for focusing you would zoom all the way in to the subject and focus, then you can zoom out to how you want the image to be framed.
