I'm a grown ass man in full uniform at my security job, tears streaming down my face as I reminisce about my childhood and wish for all my life that I could go back to that time. The freedom of youth, the friendships that have long since passed, and most of all, the closeness I felt with my family back then. This song and several others on this album (I'm on my first listen at this moment) envoke(s) a powerful nostalgic feeling, and boy am I ever here for it. Bless this band.

many of their songs evoke so much emotion. the instrumental at the end of "eyes to the wind" is a hell of an experience.

Favorite song off the album, I don’t Live Here Anymore a close second, but this one just has a certain vibe to it that feels so inspiring, but also sad if you are feeling sad. And the lyrics on this one are probably some of my favorites of theirs

This whole album is bloody brilliant. Strikes the perfect balance of world-weary wistfulness and optimism. So human.
Being a 70's & 80's guy, I crave for new interesting and real music, away from today's pastiche. TWOD gives me that. So I'm here to bid this Granduciel lad a thanks.
My personal favourite track off the new album, like a welcome blend between In Reverse, Burning, and In Chains. Sounds as if Don Henley, Simple Minds, Jackson Browne and Springsteen collaborated for a track. One of the best songs from The War On Drugs; everything here sounds so tight, balanced and together. Credit to the band and producer especially on this one. Can't wait to hear this live. Beautiful.

Jackson Browne is my favorite musician, and I hear him in this track. It’s a wonderful song.

My favorite track off the new album. I love the way Adam puts together his chord progressions. There are always one or two extra chords and the progression starts a beat or two earlier or ends a beat or two later than the ear expects.

Usually, a band disappoints me with the followup to a masterpiece. I spent 2018, 19 and 2020, listening to Deeper Understanding constantly, wondering if they could do it again. THEY DID
I don’t think anything will ever beat A Deeper Understanding for me personally. But this is practically .5 % from doing so for me 😭
@@oldbrotherhubbard I listen to Don't Live Here almost as much as Deeper. Totally agree, whether it's as good or not, it's pretty close. The live versions of the newer stuff is better than the studio mixes. " harmonias Dream" in particular, is a 1000 times better live. Especially since they added Elisa and she does those Enigma-style angelic chants with the vocoder, during the breakdown. I don't understand why they're not all over radio
So simple, but I adore when he goes into the first "You're on your own..." at the end.

Beat song of 2021… by far! Reminds you that there’s still people out there willing to inspire trough music rather than make a hit for an Instagram trend.. still, I hope this gets to be a trend, the world would be a better place out of this masterpiece!
A Deeper Understanding was such a masterpiece that it raised the bar so high it was probably unrealistic to expect something even better than that, it was once in a lifetime inspiration and achievement! All that being said new album is great and I like it, can't stop listening! I Don't Live Here Anymore song was on repeat ever since was released as a first single but now I think Harmonia's Dream is my new favorite from the new album, love this energy, melody and pace :)

I agree the new album has some great moments, especially this track, but I thought Lost in the Dream was on a different level.
Lost in the Dream is their masterpiece. A truly cohesive beautiful work of art with no weak points. A Deeper Understanding is a collection of good songs, with a few duds (up all night, knocked down, clean living).

Too many people in the comments of this band just compare tbh. They don't have the ability to really listen to these songs. When it truly touches your heart there is no mind to compare.
They are so good at this moment in time that they are capable of producing what appears to be an effortlessly brilliant sound. Clearly it's not effortless. But that's the magic in it. Not many bands in history have had that. Only the great bands.
