I was 21 and working as a gardener i a small company, for years people (mostly my some of my teachers at school) told me that i worked to slow to work in a normal company but instead needed to go to a special sort of company for people with a disability. Suprisingly my boss found me that good that he gave me a little second hand company car to do some of his costumers, a few days later i was driving around in that car and then this song pops up on the radio, and i just felt so proud at what i had achieved. Moral of the story never stop believing in yourself. :)
🥺
This is beautiful!
Thanks you

Hi dude, i love this song too, I had things said to me very similar when i was younger like this, later in life i was professionally diagnosed with Adhd which regularly ties into Autism spectrum disorder, sometimes we cant focus on certain tasks is putting mildly, hope you are doing well!
This is like Pink Floyd, Dire Straits and Brian Adams mixed into one.
What a masterpiece.
I heard Dire Straight too!
Yeah the e guitar reminds me of Dire Straits
perfect combination :)
The voice is a mix between Bryan Adams and Bob Dylan
Yeah, I hear Dylan too.
I'm a grown ass man and cried the first time I heard this.
Crying ain't just for kids.

Same. And it wasn’t the only time.
Me too.

I turned 31 years this year in August 25th, on my birthday I woke up at 4am and drove to my favorite beach (Manhattan beach, CA). Upon arriving there I was alone and free from everything and everyone. Ive battled with depression and anxiety all of my life, one of my most recent battles I was facing was my codependency issues people have brought up for me. First time in my life I was okay being my self, by myself. I felt the true understanding of the fear I was being held back from loving the most important person I have in my life and that is myself. This song takes me back to that moment standing there in the waters of the beach finally feeling free and accepting myself. It takes me back to that moment where I wish I could live in forever; that moment.
Cheers man.
From the bottom of my heart, Thanks for sharing this meaningful story.
Enjoy ur life bro :)
Slowly but surely I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and people like you are coming along with me. Thanks for sharing and I hope you carry yourself with more and more pride and self love every day for the rest of your life.
Fuerza hermano, la vida es una constante lucha interna y otras externa.
One of the best songs written during the 2000's. Poor souls to those who will never experience this masterpiece
he looks like he's in a cold dark place looking somewhere else. beautiful exit music on the northern beaches nsw tonight & the healing power of the sun xoxo
Heard it for the very first time today. Almost had a visceral emotional reaction to it. Unreal
make it one of the best songs written in the 21st century ...
There's no apostrophe in 2000s. I just saved you a keystroke.
Really ❤
I just pray to God I meet atleast one person in real life who loves this song and we tell each other our stories attached to this song.
i can tell you
There are are are many people who can feel your pain. Good humans abound on this earth, moving through it.

I’m with you
My uncle showed me this. His dad recently died and he told me that he found this song when his dad requested it a few minutes before he died. He remembers the serenity of playing that song in the hospital room, holding his phone up to his dad's ear, one last song before it all goes black. I was sitting outside under the stars when he told me this. Really hit differently.
I can find serenity in this song also
My brothers and I took a guitar into our Mom's hospice room and sang to her - hope she could hear us, sending her off.
Wow, this will be my song too x
How utterly beautiful…
This is a beautiful comment ❤ I pray he found final comfort in the beauty of this song
I turn 74 tomorrow, a lifetime Dylan fan. I heard The War on Drugs for the first time just the other day. How did I miss them, their earlier albums? Age maybe? Huh? Anyway I heard this song this afternoon and instantly knew it was a GREAT one. Think of it, I have heard and taken in music of all kinds since shortly after WWII, so much water over the dam, in my life, and yet this strikes me as a beautiful, deep song. See it through my eyes. :)
I guess you have so many experiences, so many unique moments, so much to teach. I'm impressed someone your age, same age as my dad, is here sharing emotions. Good on you.
Happy belated birthday
I’m 75 and discovered this song while listening to Pandora on my bicycle ride!! I can not tell you how many times I have listened to it since that wonderful day two yrs ago…….like you I knew immediately it was one for the books!!
C'est magnifique cette chanson. Nous arrache l'âme
fun fact: the first time i heard this song was on a roadtrip along the west coast of ireland on the only channel that had signal.
we were all quiet and just listened to it. honestly, that was a feeling i still have no words for.
what a beautiful image
That is exactly how imagined it goodness
Lacerta wow amazing story. I bet it was absolutely beautiful
That is so perfect. Thank you.
Lacerta i wish i had that moment
I quit my soul sucking job after listening to this song for a couple days. 2nd best decision I've made in my life. Live without fear.
Hell yeah brother

fucking love your guts Patrick. I did the same thing and life is only getting better...The War on Drugs is literally music that changes the way you see the world and that's what music is all about right? This song is artistic magic :)

This song is a journey and a healing for the soul.
Absolutely!!👍👍💯
Ohh is it? I should have not paid to my therapist
Always. You're never the same after it ends as you were when it started.
I love how all of the comments are so beautifully written and how much every person who wrote one is in love with this song
True! Loving to read the comment section on this one, while listening 🎵
Whats not to love about this just a masterpiece
❤
As a truck driver I listen this words and music over and over..........great inspiration, enjoying the loneliness over the road. Thinking of that place!!
✌
I too listen to it mostly on the road almost every day. I usually save it for a long rural road with lots of distant hills etc. Soundrack to my life at the moment.
This and Texas Sun by Khruangbin, not as good but give it a go.
Nice !
hope the road treats you well, brother.
Thank you for your great service to this country.
Yea
The War On Drugs produces such soothing music. This is how love should feel.
This song is hauntingly beautiful. When that harmonica kicks in at 7:35 you melt in your seat. What a timeless masterpiece.
Yeah his approach to original guitar sounds and timing is quite wonderful
First heard this song at a bar while waiting for my date (ex girlfriend) to show up. I was completely drawn in to the music structure and melodies. She arrived seconds later after the song started and we had one of the best nights ever talking the night away, having drinks, and laughing. Every time this song comes on I think about that one night last year when I was with her having a great time. It pains my heart whenever I listen to it because I'm reminded of her so much. I miss her.
better to live and love than to have never lived and loved at all... sir... you deserve another song... another war on drugs song.. but this time can I take your place? lol
There's nothing more human than missing someone you used to love
i need a gf... these days times are tough. I love american girls. no joke. I have been aborad to europe and drank with many girls in parks in madrid , girls that were teachers... it was fun. anyways. bye.
Keep your head up king
Is that feeling not mutual?
Im truly happy for everyone who found this song during quarantine
me too, i was just listening to it while doing a project, definetely made me enjoy it just a bit more lol
Way before quarentine
We just deserved it
be my wife xd
I prefer to call it house arrest. You don't quarantine the healthy imo
The irony is, this song is is addictive, like most drugs.
This song is such a masterpiece that it will resonate for everyone differently in their own special way.
First third of the song takes me back to the unexpected death of my baby son at one week old. Middle third takes me back to the years of grief and pain my wife and I went through after, hoping we'd one day be in a better place again. Last third of the song is the love and joy our one-year-old girl has brought us since.
First time you hear this song it hits you like a hurricane.

The world can't be that a bad place if it offers us such an incredibly beautiful song, can it?
well the world is still pretty shitty
same thing i was thinking, thanks to such beautiful creations, life can be bearable :)
FabZombie Its cliche but the PEOPLE are SHITTY. Not EARTH. This planet gives your LIFE.
The world and all living on it are just as it should be; get used to it. We can't change the world, just the world inside us. I love you.
burningrabbit acres Yet, if we change the world within we change the outside world. One reacts with the other.
most of us are not in love with the song, we're in love with the place it takes us to
No, definitely in love with the song. :D
Just like every other form of art.
Best 11 mins of my life right now ....

This music has GODs fingerprints all over it 🙏🤍
People who suffer great pain can be greatly comforted by beautiful music like this. Often I did not understand this well enough for persons I cannot bring back to life now
As someone who's only means of expression is music, I can't think of a better way to say it.
@@dojno9999 thank you Tim
I love you for making this comment.
This song is dangerous. As in a good way. It makes you examine where you are in your life and what you are doing. Who and what do you love? How are you finding your way through the dark of a long, black night? “See it through my eyes, love me like no other.” Etc. So many lines that just hit home, hard.
couldn't agree more. you described it perfectly
Perfectly said Robert. 👍
My thoughts exactly .. thank you for sharing :)
Word
11 minutes have never flown by so fast. Mind = blown.
Also- the addition of steel guitar to their palette is a match made in heaven. F*cking perfection.
agreed it felt like 4 minuets if that i got lost in the song
yayyyy!!! worth the wait! listen to that guitar! the whole song! the whole TWOD!
Mind =blown too!!!
Right?
that final instrumental jam is pure magic
It was back in Little Bend that I saw you
Light was changing on the water
Where birds above had flown
There was pain in your eyes
So you vanished in the night
Missouri River in the distance
So I lied upon the lawn
I remember walking against the darkness of the beach
Love is like a ghost in the distance, out of reach
Travel through the night 'cause there is no fear
Alone but right behind, until I watched you disappear
I'm moving through the dark
Of a long black night
Just moving with the moon
And the light it shines
And I'm thinking of a place
And it feels so very real
Just moving through the dark
Once I had a dream
I was falling from the sky
Coming down like running water
Passing by myself in light
In the morning, I would wake
To the sound of someone's voice
Like little whispers through the silence
I'm moving through the dark
Of a long black night
I'm looking at the moon
And the light it shines
But I'm thinking of a place
And it feels so very real
Oh, sufferer of love
Come and take my hand, babe
There's a turn in the road that we've been taking
Let it set you free
'Cause there's a rhythm in the way that we've been moving
Yeah, there's a darkness over there, but we ain't going
See it through my eyes
Walk me to the water
Hold my hand as something turns to me
Love me every night
Drown me in the water
Hold my hand, is something turning me?
See it through my eyes
Love me like no other
And hold my hand as something turns to me
And turns me into you
Lead me through tonight
Pull me from the water
Hold my hand as something turns to me
Turns me into you
Just see it through my eyes
Love me like no other
Hold my hand as something turns to me
Turns me into you
Turning me into you

I just took an 11:12 sentimental journey... "There's a rhythm in the way we've been moving."
Drowned in the deepest sea of emotions with this song.. worlds can't describe how much I love this healing melody.
So Beautiful this song
this song is a beautiful melody, the progression is perfect, provoke in my different sensation, in art , is perfect
Greetings from my little country Chile, hidden in a corner of this world, my room ........
Agree ; a beautiful melodic progression !

Buena weón! Esta canción entró a mi lista de tops en pandemia, opino lo mismo que tú, la progresión es perfecta, la última parte es la que más me gusta.
This song has been on repeat for me for the last year and half as I moved from my home in Canada to my birthplace Chile. I agree with you Angel, the progression is perfect, it provokes in me a melancholic searching as one might feel in the idea of ˋcoming home.´.
This song is so damn good

It gives me a fever all over.. and over again.
Takes you outta depression!
it's such a great song huh... yeah!!! wahoooo!
discovered this on my helicopter going home from oil platforn where I work the northern sea, Norway. The cabins mandatory headphones/ear protection and a playlist designed by its own company. flying low over the sea, ascending slowly towards soft blurry white clouds no sun. so trippy, whimsical and marvellous. Had no clue how long it lastet..lost track of time and space after a long nightshift. Too many hours awake, Love at 1st sight. Thanks guys. Bless

Vaya, grandes canciones
Beautiful...I can imagine a place where i could be in peace.
I discovered this song around the second half of March 2017, my oldest brother just committed suicide and this song crossed my path. "There was pain in your eyes when you vanished in the night, misery river in the distance". It speaks to me this very day and still don't understand why and what for, but it comforts me that thinking of this place takes me to him. Few weeks back, the band played Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and I would have never thought they'd close a 2 hour concert with an 11 minute song. Thanks Adam, you gave me some form of closure and am for ever grateful that you've kept me close to him, thinking of a place where we'd meet again.
Missouri river in the distance*

This is one of the best song I've heard in a long time. Brilliant
I was tripping on LSD, researching the actual war on drugs and I came across this. One of the best stumbles I’ve ever come across 🙏🏽
I just recounted a traumatic childhood experience listening to this song and now I don't know how to feel. What in the actual fuck. This is powerful stuff.
You’ve made it this far, kudos dude✌🏼stay safe🤙🏼
when a song is so powerful it pulls out the memories and feelings you’ve been hiding that you forgot about you know it’s powerful.
I first clicked on this song thinking "11 minutes, dang... Ok, I'll give it a shot." Within seconds, I completely lost track of time, like a vivid dream that carries you away, and you wish would never end.
This track right here pretty much summarizes my way out of depression and into love. I just can't be down or hopeless if I put this on. I don't know how to be down knowing I can just play this song again, and music in general. I feel lucky
The solace, the lead singer’s raw vocal emotions, & most importantly the layered guitars & instrumental work jar emotion in me that I don’t often feel. An absolute masterpiece.
this song is an absolute work of art. i'm so glad it's 11 minutes long.

This is the closest I've ever felt to meditating while listening to a song. I don't know what it is about it, but it just sucks you in and allows your mind to relax while it plays. It's magical.
I'm 25 years old been on my own since I was 17 living on people's couches playing music listening to music and I dream one day I'll be able to write a song as meaningful as this because I love to see people feel music the way I do. With my mental health not being so great and not feeling as whole I hope one day I can be old and know that I did great things in my life and be able live on til I'm sitting on .y front porch in a rocking chair smoking a cigarette drinking coffee and looking back at all the memories that I have with people and know I'm not a bad person I can go on knowing I'm as good as the sound of this band makes
Sean, from the words you've written, I'm positive that you'll achieve your dream. There's no sin in falling down. The sin is in not getting back up.
You'll get there Sean... if this song is your reference, you'll do great things. Write it up, melody it, wall of sound that shit... like everything else in life

Last year, Nov 5th 20, I was listening to my Dad's funeral songs on CZcams (6years funeral date) Van Morrison, then THIS SONG randomly started playing... I had never heard this song or of the band before. I can't tell you how POWERFUL IT WAS AND STILL IS. Every beat, sound, word, lyric through to the story of the song and how its power resonated deep. My heart opened wide and the tears flooding by the end of the first verse! But it felt so freeing and loved. I can't put into words how powerful, spiritually connected and healing an experience it was. It felt like he was so present through the whole song/experience. I felt as if I finally mourned for my Dad's loss. I had only found him 4 years prior after 30 years separation and I was heavily pregnant with my daughter when he passed. So this will ALWAYS be a very special song to me. Still makes my hair stand up...
Also have a thing with numbers, tgis song is 11:11 long, it first played at 23:23 ❤️👌🏻
For a year now, I feel this band have given me so much more than music but a tool to free/connect/heal.
Thank you for the music magic 🙏🏻😊🎶✨❤️
Hearing your story makes me happy. I've had those types of moments with songs and it can trigger those memories for the rest of your life.. You will always have that feeling through this song. That is yours forever. Fucking beautiful
there are just too many beautiful things in this universe that are just beautiful with no explanation. they are just simply beautiful. this song is an example of that.
I love to hear this on the radio when driving to work. Thanks to all the radio stations which have the balls to play real music for 11 minutes :-)

Studio Brussel in Belgium played it too
I was in an abusive controlling relationship - leaving him was the worst pain I have ever had in my life. This song got me through it. There’s just something in the lyrics “there’s a darkness over there, we ain’t going” that means so much for me. Perhaps an mantra to never dwell on the too dark things too long, but also I think a message of hope - knowing that leaving him was avoiding that darkness. I love you war on drugs and thank you for everything you have done for my life. I am a better person because of it x
Beautiful, hopeful

Reading these beautiful comments, I felt the need to tell mine. So, I just recently graduated and my life had been a rollercoaster. My mom passed away way back 2019 after fighting cancer for 4 years. My dad died last year due to car accident. I was his last backride on his motorcycle, and I still remember that last glance I gave to him after he gave me a ride to the hospital where I practiced my internship as a medtech. People may think I’m coping well with what I’ve been through but every night when I’m alone, I can’t help but feel everything at once and cry silently, hoping that I will have better days ahead and that the hardships I’ve been through were all gonna be worth it.
Fast forward, on June 15, I graduated and being awarded as an outstanding medical technology intern in my favorite lab section, hematology. It’s definitely all worth it. And now, I just got hired and will start my job tomorrow.
I’m still anxious whenever I think what my future will be. There may be more bad days ahead but good things have been here and will more to come. For whatever it’s worth, I guess the act of being more in the present and just try to live life, is enough :)
To mom and pops: Thank you for raising me. Love you both always
This is not a song, this is a feeling and all we’re here in this moment are one single soul 🙏🏽🙏🏽
This song i played for my brother back in 2018. He went through abuse as a kid and took to drink. he dropped dead 4 days later of a heart attack. .. So the song will always mean so much to me....

The production on this is astounding. It takes the expansiveness of the song and let’s it ride but then pulls it back into an intimate room at the right moments. By far my favorite song.
Had this as the first dance at my wedding. Had to trim it way down so we weren't dancing for close to 11 minutes, but could have easily. Couldn't have chosen a better song.
This song is a serenity. ❤🇳🇵
I have never found a better produced 11 minute song that you can listen on repeat. Everything is just in the right place, this is true art.
I bet i could find you one.
Not better. But equal in it's own brilliance.
Even something from different genres.
It's a massive world is music.
It will take more than a lifetime to discover everything.

Andrew, Well put my friend, However YOU HAVE TO BE IN THIS GIFTED PLACE at the right TIME, so your ABLE TO HEAR THE GIFT YOU'LL RECEIVE WITHIN THIS SONG. That allows you to be captured by this one songs musical spell received. This song gives you, during your first listening. During these very first few seconds of listening, the song has such a subtle yet strong structural spell, that magically locks the listener into a very unusual transfixed state. That most powerful inner beauty, is easily able to capture the trancendenation. To the listener from the songs begaining right up until the songs end. With that same soft subtle way the song first took you in. Now in the songs end it subtly releases you from it's beautiful, yet most powerful grip with such softness.
Take Care all of you around the world, my dear friends.

How true, I'm sure you would be able to do so..I've been fortunate to have been a intricate part of Music for a great while now. The key for me is this. When a Musical Artist or Artists are able to paint something beautiful without, using a brush or canvas as their medium but musical instruments. Which in some way grabs your deepest emotions or memories, sad or happy. Anytime my depression takes over I listen to this song, a calmness overwhelms my mind. I believe with The War on Drugs and a few other bands I can overtake it. Thank you for creating wonderful music!
Jesus 💜
I am 65 and a whole lot of the people I know my age insist there isn't any good music being made anymore, No , they just don't look hard enough. This is a good as anything they were playing when I was in High School.
Please, bring me back to my own self.
I may have teared up while listening to this...
Me too, mate. This band will do that to you.
Sam Goetz and give you goosebumps and chills cuz its so beautiful and visual
that transition though
What a great song...I am speechless....
I love this song soooo much. I play it and close my eyes in a dark room and the places it takes me are so beautiful. Try it.
Sure honey.
Beste nummer sinds wish you were heren!
That's actually what I'm doing now. No joke. ❤️💯🙏🏽
One of the most underrated songs. It's a journey from beginning to end.
I love the random commercial in the middle, truly inspiring

No shit
A masterpiece of a song.
Dit is het mooiste liedje allertijden
This song has me sitting on a hill top overlooking the rolling green fields with magnificent tress and a meandering creek running through down below..
I am in awe of the natural world , its beauty and truth.
I am sitting there looking out feeling so much gratitude for my life and beautiful songs like this. ❤
This song tells about a place where i can only visit in my head.
"See it through my eyes
Love me like no other
And hold my hand as something turns to me
And turns me into you"....
Everything that needs to be said by two lovers in a nutshell.
The words that post-modern societies lack to express.
But listening to this song and reading the comments of my fellow brothers and sisters, I can say "Thank you God, there is still hope!!!"
Keep going ladies and gentlemen. We fighting through this together! ❤️
Mistakes and all👍
If my youth would have a soundtrack, it would sound like this. Beautiful…
11 minutes of a true masterpeice each time I listen to it gets better and better
A song that can make you feel both sad and happy throughout its entirety is something special. Cannot wait for the new album. The War on drugs, you guys are something very special.
I was driving through construction zone, irritated, pissed off, then this song played on satellite radio. Suddenly everything was OK, none of the hassles mattered, it was all beautiful. How often does a song do that? Moody Blues, Neil Young, pure inspiration and artistic expression, it's all there.
Moody Blues? Thats a new one. Whats a good Moody Blues track to play to hear the influence? I don't hear it one bit. Neil Young sure but not as obvious as Dylan or Paul Simon. Even Jackson Brown.
every time I think I have found my favorite song in the world, I hear another song from The War On Drugs; this is now my newest favorite!
the sound of that guitar solo...
