I would be.... IF they had put better hardware inside of it... But nope all they did was shine up a turd and leave the same crap outdated internals inside of it. I will admit the OLED screen makes it look so much better and it actually looks modern now. Though they could absolutely further reduce the bezels it is a huge improvement. This was one of the big things I was hoping for was a nice oled screen like the Vita came with. Now we need somewhat modern hardware and then ill upgrade. But until then there is no way I'm paying that much money for a switch with a better screen that cant even benefit from the better screen since so many of the good games are so blurry or foggy or whatever tricks they do to help with FPS on such poor hardware.

Not to mention they need to make OEM joycons that actually fit ADULT SIZED HANDS!!!!! Maybe they could take a note from Microsoft ffs its just sad. Pushing these awful quality joycons so they can keep selling the replacements for 70 bucks a pop when they break. I don't remember my vita or the psp having these controller problems... But conveniently the console with removable joycons has joycon issues and those joy cons are conveniently 70 DOLLARS! @Raja995mh33 Před 2 lety

You don't know how pixels work... to display gray, the display still need to light up all (sub)pixels. You can't display "gray" without using all three colors (red, green, blue).
It can save a bit of battery life but only at higher brightness. At lower brightness, it pretty much doesn't even matter what colors you're displaying because the differences in power consumption even between white and black are super small.

5:30 Oled isn't like plasma. You can't reduce the chance of burn in, just prolong how long it takes to do so. This is because images don't actually burn into the screen like with old technology. The O part of Oled (organic = carbon based) burns through like it's a micro piece of coal. This cannot be avoided. Just like with phones the Switch job is less to avoid burn in, but just prolong the issue until the next console is released. (I assume he understands this, just want to clarify for others).

My Vita had the L2/R2 L3/L4 bubbles burned into the edges about 4 years in since we always used it as a 3rd controller for the PS4. On the Switch the most worrisome game would be Smash bros. It will be very interesting to test burn in on this thing with a long handheld play session of Monster Hunter Rise. Some of the high rank quests can take up to a hour complete and due to the new maps not loading between different number sections of the map. The static HUD elements will stay in place on the screen the entire time.

burn in isn't something that really happens after making "one mistake" and that's it -- it's cumulative, so someone who played 900 hours of mainly BoTW (even with breaks) but with little game variation could still see burn in from the HUD being the most common thing on the screen.
People who play more than one game on the switch oled shouldn't really have any issues

There won't be burn in go look at the vita which had an OLED screen almost 10 years ago and it wasn't a problem . Modern OLED are even better it's almost eliminated completely. The only time I've seen burn in is old plasma with people calling them OLED or boomers watching CNN alllllllll day and night for years with the tv logo sitting in the same spot. Modern OLED have a feature called screen shift where the screen shifts in micro incremental levels that you can't notice anyway.
Just relax and use your switch and stop buying into the burn in stuff! Samsung pushed a lot of the burn in scare to sell their crappy QLEDs to try sabotage LG back in the day also. Especially with your example of playing monster hunter really? It takes hundreds of thousands of hours without changing games and content!

Does the OLED screen help with colourblindness issues? I know a few games have the option to tweak those settings, but I was wondering if a more vibrant screen can help solve that even more?
I'm not fully colourblind, but darker games basically show up as a massive dark spot for me, as an extreme example, some of the darker diablo 3 maps I have to navigate purely on minimap. Would an OLED screen help with that?

I personally don't get why it took them that long. Internally, the storage is just a module you can plug in like an NVMe on your mainboard. It's not soldered on or whatever. Nintendo could've made SO much more money by just selling the Switch where the simply swapped out the 32GB module for like a 128GB one and sold it for $50 extra.

Any improvement in wifi connectivity strength? The base switch had pretty weak wifi antenna.
Also, any thermal differences when running switch vs switch oled?
Lastly, would be nice if you can do some measurements to objectively characterise the end to end input input latency between classic switch and switch lite to the oled switch. Assuming everything else is exactly the same, we can reasonably assume the difference in response time comes right down to the oled screen.

FYI, I have screen burn in reduction turned off on the regular switch as my TV isn't OLED. The screen still darkens after about 5 minutes of inactivity when in handheld or tabletop mode, and this isn't adjustable whatsoever, but the time it takes to sleep IS determined by your sleep mode time toggle in the settings, under sleep mode > auto-sleep when playing on console screen.
It looks like Nintendo already thought ahead, as the TV Settings setting is exclusively for TVs.
