It's truly wild how many people rely on alcohol in some capacity to fill a portion of their social lives.
this sketch hits hard because i used to have a really bad phase of pathological lying and this is EXACTLY what it is like. i didnt lie when i had to, i just lied because whatever. sometimes, to impress people, sometimes to keep the conversation going, sometimes for no reason at all

@@mma.y idk it was just really funny to me the way rehka delivered the line, and usually you don't keep those tags after you're done travelling on your stuff both as a convention and partly for safety reasons
The most underrated line is, “when the stakes are at their lowest…”.
He completely shattered on the very smallest amount of pressure. It was so hilarious. It would have been so easy to keep up the lie, but he unravels, which was unexpected but showcased Brennan’s impressive acting ability.

He’s almost singlehandedly keeping Dropout going right now. Between Dimension 20, Adventuring Party and Adventuring Academy I think he’s doing something like 75% of the content they’re posting per week. The rest of the cast and shows are good but, phew, Heaven help that channel if they ever lose Brennan to a TV or Movie deal!
@@Bodyknock I'm not sure if they've managed to start rehiring people but he was the last full-time member left at college humour last January, everyone else was laid off.
@@brutusthecat6044 Dropout is still going and producing shows. At the moment Brennan runs Dimension 20 and Adventuring Party, Trapp is still doing regular episodes of Um Actually and Sam is doing Game Changer, plus their animated Troopers episodes. I can't speak to what projects could be in their pipeline though.
@@Bodyknock You are right and I didn't mean to imply otherwise. What I was indicating was that last year January, all the creative staff apart from Sam Reich, the new owner of CH, and Brennan were sadly let go from their full time positions at CH. Highlighting the faith that Sam had in Brennan, and the direction that he wanted to take CH, which is why your comment was really on the nose. Obviously others are working in some part time capacities and making great content that I am more then happy to support on Dropout.

See the only point where this video goes wrong is when she asks "I thought you don't drink" I would be saying something along the line of "oh, I don't, but... That time was very special it was the first time I ever drunk ever" and just keep digging myself deeper into my already deep and depressing dark hole of lies and deceit.
I always know when my wife does this white lie stuff to move along a conversation and I'm always there to ask her specific questions just to press her.

He did seem to be being morosely honest when he said they were strangers. Oddly enough, Jessica's name was spoken after that point, but throughout the whole sketch, Reika's name did not come up. So it was quite odd that he suddenly knew her name. It also seems odd he would lie about not knowing her name when it's established that he lies to fit in better, so telling her he does not know her name seem counterproductive to that. I'm guessing it was an error in the script. That or he did lie about not knowing her name, but I don't see why he would on that premise...

I'm convinced that Brennan and I are the same person, except for the fact that he has talent, but besides that.
I'm convinced that Brennan moonlights as a bluegrass musician and goes by the name Billy Strings. I, objectively and empirically, know for sure that they are two different people; I know this as a fact, and I'm not saying that I would swear it in court. What I AM saying, is that the only way I can be completely sure is if they both stand side by side in front of me.

Everybody’s got to start somewhere. I think he’s doing great! And when he’s ready to go somewhere, he’s gonna go far.
I personally think that his acting skill is helping to lift everyone else up to par. He's set a new standard and the entire cast seems pretty invigorated by it. I hope he lands more prominent role eventually, but he really seems to love what he's doing with CollegeHumour. All around seems like a great guy to work with!

Then you'd have a dysfunctional commonality, which will perpetually linger in your relationship with them. If you're at Brennan's level then you're essentially Jim Carry from Yes Man and wouldn't truly understand your truth, because your "truth" is nothing more than a lie! Eventually, you'll get tangled in your own straw man that's being perpetuated like a kinetic energy bouncing between 2 points: you and the person you have lying in common with.
Would you know if this person likes you or lied just to not feel alone? Would you know if they actually want to hang out or is lying to essentially have a connection with another human being? Going down this rabbit hole, you've essentially fucked yourself into your own Twilight Zone.

The other, however, just makes you a genuine liar and that's the ONLY genuine connection you have with someone. There's no clarity or transparency; only internal dystopia depending on intent. They can never be the best man or maid of honor, as there's too many mental nuances to truly feel complete with them.
I'm still in character and this is fun! It all depends on what your relationship is like at base. Are you like Brennan and trying to win their approval or are you an anxiety driven maniac who doesn't truly know how life works?

This actually happens to people when they have associated lying with surviving.
Usually to people who come from abusive (both physically, and emotionally) households. It gets psychologically rooted pretty deep.
