  • A resolution to rename India as Bharat may be brought in by the government during Parliament's upcoming special session that is scheduled from September 18-22. The Constitution of India currently refers to the country as "India, that is Bharat...", but there is a growing call to amend this to simply "Bharat" The demand to rename India as Bharat by amending the Constitution has intensified and sources said the Centre may bring a resolution to rename India.

This Devdutt is a class act. First he gives a Grade 5 labored history lecture in the etymology of the word India. Then he goes on to say essentially that everything from outside is good, but a word/name from inside the country even if a part of the country - is bad - and we are all small people to want a name that originates from within the land. Furthermore, his anti Hindu and anti Brahaminical bias and pure hate is not even couched, while he calls others political. Class act indeed.

Arya aryavartas aryans dravidians. North indians south indians. This is the history written by foriegners whose policy is to divide and rule. From himalayas to kanyakumari same vedas and veda mantras are followed. Same ramayana and mahabharatha. Vishnu shiva bramha are also same for entire bharat. Puranas are same. Ashtakshari panchakshari are same. This is the real history of bharat. over a period of time practices may have some difference. This is santhana dharma. This is making us unity in diversity. Dont fall prey to westerners written history. In schools we are thaught that. We believe that it is true. But that is not our real history. Some one outside comes and say this is epic and we accept that. It is slavery. For outsider who is a hypocrite we dont have to prove that it happened. Vedas puranas sanathana darma are our identity. Our history started when paramatma started creation. That is our unity in diversity. This is Bharat.

Devdutt Pattnaik's "brahmanical" rant falls flat when people realise who the authors of Bharat's greatest revered epics 'Ramayan' & 'Mahabharat' are. They are 'Valmiki', a 'Bhill' fisherman turned dacoit turned sage. And 'Vyas', the son of a 'boat rover' (maajhi) woman Satyawati. "Brahmanical attrocity" treated these "low caste" members of the society so badly that they not only made their epics foundations of their own culture & view of the world, but also elevated these "low caste untouchables" into 'Maharshis' .. The word Sindhu has its etmological roots in Tamil. Just because it is in North India doesnt mean it should be sanskirit. Indhumathi is a Tamil word as well. Inthu and mathi both refer to moon in tamil, and that kind of two differenet phonemes meaning same is predominant characterstic of tamil language than in sanskirit. Such a linguistic structure is classified and categorized as heteronym. Similarly other example is 'Kaarmegam'....both kaar and megam mean clouds. Yesterday this conversation had different format. Both participants were in discussion/dialog mode. The present one is in the form of two lectures by Devdutt and Sanyal. Why was the original conversation suddenly taken off CZcams ? Who objected to the format ? Sanyal or Devdutt ? Devdutt became more assertive in the present one.
Devdutt is backward. He only studies, interprets , and disseminates mythology. Sangh pariwar is forward looking. It creates mythology.
Sangh has clear objectives and strategy to achieve goals. They don't do anything without a purpose. They are also proactive and take the initiative. I really appreciate the strategic thinkers in the backroom who evolve strategies. Any one who opposes them is only in reactive mode.
Any religion must take the control over the thoughts of the target people. Words are powerful. They can both aid or interfere with the pracharak's goals. Making the word "India" as foreign is an intelligent ploy.
It appears that the ruling dispensation feels that "oneness" against the "other" (unite the Hindus to created divide between Hindus and foreign religions) will continue to yield electoral results. Will economic law of diminishing returns apply to this situation ?
We Indians (and Hindus) are diverse groups. There is no need to "unite" us. We have been living in our zones as well as interacting with different internal cultures fairly well since independence.
It is our diversity that has sustained democracy. Not our wisdom. We are as human as anyone else in the world. Democracy essentially means freedom of thought and action to the individual. There are two axis of freedoms- social and economic. The current regime offer low level of freedom on both axis.
It's time for citizens to think about the underlying objectives and purpose. Indians need freedom and economic well-being. Hope we get it

  • @PriyeRai

2:00-3:12 Mr Pattnaik very predictably advertised this mentality of "let others do it since it's characteristic to them but let us choose inaction because we are not like them" by leveraging the foolish, self-righteous, emotional garb of owning one's pluralism. This mentality basically opens the way to "let others walk over us because that's who they are, let us not learn from that and allow them to walk over us again as they please since we are that damn good-hearted". That seems like the mentality of someone who is happy eternally playing second-fiddle and being unimportant. The point he implied about plurality of gods being something unique to Bharat and The West having singular God-origins isn't even true. Before the politically-motivated spread of middle-eastern religions, most if not all of what now constitutes the West had multiple Gods (Greek pantheon, Norse pantheon). Multiple Gods has been a shared aspect of communities all across the world before the spread of middle-eastern cults that was often done through forced conversions.

The background history for Bharatas: The Bharatas were an early Vedic tribe that existed in the latter half of the second millennium B.C.
The earliest mentioned location of the Bharatas was on the first Sarasvatī River in southern Afghanistan. Led by the tribal king Divodāsa, the Bharatas moved through the Hindu Kush mountains and defeated Śambara. Divodāsa's descendant, Sudās, won the Battle of the Ten Kings against a Pūru-led coalition, after which the initial compilation of hymns of the R̥gveda was carried out.[citation needed] After the battle, the Bharatas and other Pūru clans eventually formed the Kuru Kingdom, which was the first attested state in Indian history. The name Bharata is of Indo-Aryan and Indo-Iranian origin, meaning "bearers" or "carriers". (Taken from Wikipedia)
