    To the lady who asked about Krishna. Krishna was a historical personality who attained enlightenment in his lifetime. He was playing out his karmic life in this birth. Living in this world, life is never straightforward, mahabharat is a historical narrative of all aspects of life. Karan was abandoned at birth and brought up in a household of a submissive working family while his spirit was that of a non submissive warrior. It shows the conflict that a person faces when they have to live in circumstances opposite of their personality and also deal with emotions of abandonment.

    I watched him on TV n wasn't impressed. Today I admit this is one of the best thing I have ever watched on net. Great discussion. Must be translated into regional languages so that common man can benefit from his wisdom.

    To the presenter of the discussion, when he wanted to move from the 'dark' idea about caste system to a 'happier' idea of krishna I thought like saying that these 'dark' ideas need to be discussed and made relevent today even though we might have a hard time digesting it. I was beautifully expalined by Devdutt.

    Rama is a historical personality who had to make difficult decisions in his lifetime. He got self realisation during that lifetime and attained moksha ( freedom from life and death).Ravana was a greatest scientist of the time and a powerful ruler, but had a huge ego which caused him to be adharmic and kidnap Sita

    Those who eat meat are violent.We were not meant to kill animals and eat them. We do not have canine teeth...meat eating and offering meat to Gods is done by those who have not evolved to a higher thinking.Looking down upon these people with disgust is wrong, but to lower your standards to theirs is also wrong.It is normal for people to mingle socially with those who have same morals and ethics as them. In my opinion, that is how Jaati system evolved.

    But at the end of the day, the great texts of Santan Dharm are hijacked by Brahmins and their Brahmanical rituals. Common masses or the deprived classes have been historically denied spiritual education ..you should acknowledge this brutal fact, mr.devdutt Patnaik

      Vishwasji, I agree with you. However in the present , the texts are available in regional languages. And Non Brahmin Authors have critically evaluated them. I am sure Patnaik has acknowledged it .

    • @Jo-pv4jx
      @Jo-pv4jx Před 4 lety

      The Brahmins are the ones who have kept the knowledge intact through learning by heart word by word the Vedas,upnishad ,Ramayana, mahabharat etc. Otherwise this knowledge would have been lost ,when the the invaders burnt all our books or natural disasters destroyed the books. That is why this knowledge has survived so many thousands of years.So give credit where credit is due
