Victim Appeals for Support After Being Beaten by Police During Protests in Georgia

An opposition activist in Georgia has appealed for international support from his hospital bed - after being beaten by government security forces during a crackdown on demonstrations earlier this week.
Protesters have described the demeaning treatment received by riot police, during demonstrations outside Georgia's parliament over the controversial 'foreign agents bill'.
Hundreds of protesters shut down streets after Georgia’s parliament passed the foreign influence law that critics call a copy of Russia’s foreign agent law, heavily relied upon by the Kremlin to suppress dissent.
For over a month, tens of thousands of Georgians have flooded the streets to protest the legislation in the largest rallies the country has seen since the nation's independence from the Soviet Union.

Foreign Agents Registration Act, FARA) - закон США, принятый в 1938 году, требующий, чтобы иностранные агенты в США, представляющие интересы иностранных держав в «политическом или квазиполитическом качестве», раскрывали свои отношения с иностранным правительством и информацию о соответствующей деятельности и финансах.
