- Ever wondered what it's like going from a single subwoofer to dual subwoofers? Well then, you're in luck! I'll talk you through my experiences going duals after living with a single sub for the past 15 years. I'll also compare the frequency response of the both subs vs a single subs using REW as well as using either the Audyssey MultiEQ Editor app or a miniDSP 2x4HD to apply a house curve. Good video. I've has 2 PB1000 in my system for about 5 years. My room is 12X14 (+-) and the subs are placed asymetrically (rule of 3's) front right sidewall ports facing out and back wall next to couch ports facing out. I've experimented with every placement imaginable and this setup is the best for my room. My biggest problems is large patio door, 2 large windows, and kitchen pass through. Fortunately my two wicker sofas with big cushions do tame the space and there is no bass boom. Good luck with your channel as it's obvious you know what you're talking about vs. so many 'youtubers' who are about as helpful as a screen door on a submarine.

I have two PB 2000 pro and I love them. I got them about 5 months ago and I play around with them for a while and I think I got them dial in. My couch vibrate also.
I'm running 3 PB 2000 Pros, it's awesome after using your setup tips with the minidsp, I'm still learning REW, but I've got these tuned very close to where they should be. I love these subs, I even chose these over the PB 3000s that I tried because the improvement wasn't worth the extra $600 a piece

what is the size room? Im planning to buy dual svs pb-1000 pro for a 13x16 size room, would it be enough or a pb-2000 pro is better|?
My dual PB-1000 Pros are scheduled to arrive on Monday. Can't wait... except it seems near impossible to find a Umik-1 anywhere in stock right now. :(
My 2nd SVSPB-2000 Pro just arrived couple days ago. Going to set them all up tomorrow and see how impressed I can get. Hopefully Audyssey MultiEQ can do a fine job calibrating them. Crossing my fingers!!
How big was the difference? What differences did you notice?
Everything he is saying is accurate. I bought two PB 4000's and all my issues were fixed with the second sub. Now I bought a pb 2000 for my small shed. Hoping it's OK
I have a single SVS PB2000 pro sub and still this thing is a beast. At times it gets scary......
Great review man. I recently bought the PB-2000 Pro and man it blows me away. It shakes my whole room and couch. I'm running it though with my old PB-1000 which is not ideal, should be the same dual subs but I'm making it work for now. Sound dam good but I want a second PB-2000 Pro. Again great vid.
That’s awesome! Matching subs is typically the way to go, but sometimes you can’t and make do with what you have! Since getting the MiniDSP, I’m actually running 3 subs now. The two PB2000 Pros in the front and my old PB10-ISD directly behind the couch. Took a bit of effort getting everything dialed in, but once I did that third sub actually adds a lot of “oomph” to the sound as it’s technically near-field. The couch does vibrate quite a bit more due to the proximity. Could I add a third PB2000 Pro and replace the PB10? Sure, but I don’t know if I could justify spending the money to just plop it behind the couch.

@@HomeTheaterGamer I already have the PB 2000 Pro for my small home theater, and manage to add 1 more SVS subs. Planning to add second PB 2000 Pro, but the price is getting higher now days, approx US$ 1.106 (exc. shipping and handling fees) here. So I search online for used PB 2000 Pro, but can't find it. The only that I can find online is the used PB 1000 Pro for US$ 6.333 (exc. shipping & handling fees). I wonder if I add this PB 1000 Pro as second sub to my current PB 2000 Pro. Is that still ok? Since They both have similar 12 inch driver size, but different in power output.
I'm setting up both my sb-1000 pro subs tomorrow. Did you use the SVS app for tweaking like you did in a different video of yours?
Next level - BEQ
This is one thing I haven't really noticed with my system (although if I ran REW, it would probably say otherwise)...but I run large floor speakers in my system and they definitely have the bass part handled quite well....My Cerwin Vega RE 38 paired with a PB-1000 Pro has not left me wanting more....I have the x-over set at 35hz on the SVS with an 18db slope
I have 2 SVS PB 1000 in opposite diagonal front/rear corners. Two Atlantic Tech bookshelfs and center channel, 4 SVS Elevations. 12X14 room 8' ceiling. Tile floors, 2 large windows, and french doors. Lots of reflections. I've tried every variation of sub placement but the opposite diagonal front/rear corner placement is the best. I run Audyssey (Denon 3700H avr) for initial calib. and then manually cal. the subs using Audyssey but start gain at 12 o'clock with Audyssey identifying the subs as too loud of course. I then keep dropping the gain down 1 clik at a time until Audyssey is "ok" with the volume levels. The subs read -8.0 and -9.5 dB. I then change xover for fronts from 40 to 60Hz. and center from 60 to 80Hz. Elevations from 60 to 80 Hz. and subs remain at 120Hz. I then check levels with an SPL meter and only boost the surrounds a little. But the one thing I always!! change is running Audyssey Flat vs. Reference. I listen to movies at 82 dB but if my wife is present will drop this down to 78. All these settings lead to tight, punchy, not boomy bass. The John Wick series is especially good for checking bass, as are the Gerald Butler 'Fallen' series. Sub placement and where my system is now did not happen overnight but actually took many years. As long as one starts with well reviewed subs, such as SVS, one then has the realization that it's not the subs - but the room itself that has to be tamed for best sound. And that will take a lot of time and effort bit it is all worth it when you get slammed in the chest by well done sound design. And that, is a whole different story. I've learned along the way that movie sound effects are at the mercy of a sound designer and his/her ears - especially the sometimes torturous manner in which dialogue is presented. How big is your room? Do you notice any chuffing in some of those ultra low bass scenes like Edge of Tomorrow or Blackhawk Down?

You have a very similar setup, equipment, approach and curve to what I have achieved. Good stuff. Now go show that 'know it all' CO Guy Stuff how to do it. The guy is a Jack Of All Trades and master of none. You on the other hand, know how to get things done through trial and error and with the help of the professionals like Audioholics and Home Theater Gurus, you made it happen like I did. An AMC theater now sounds so bass anemic! Congrats!
Thanks. What’s funny is we recently rented a private theater at AMC with my family to see a movie, and I was not at all impressed with the bass in the theater. No real depth to it and it was as you described: anemic.
@@HomeTheaterGamer Exactly. IMAX theaters use 16 of the the Danley designed LAB12 drivers. 16 subwoofers and it's nowhere near enough to pressurise a theater of 75,000 cubic feet. To successfully pressurize a room of that size would cost about an extra $300,000 worth of subwoofers and the theater companies know that most people won't notice without them anyway. I have 1 BK Monolith Plus subwoofer which has a LAB12 driver and a PB-1000 Pro with a DenonX3300w and a Minidsp. Great stuff.

I have one PB 2000 Pro on the way im upgrading from SB12-NSD and might get one more later. Great price for these subs the step up model the PB 3000 cost $600 more where i live.
How do the two subs compare? I have a SB12-NSD and, on paper, I'm not sure there's that much difference between them, besides a little more powerful sledge amps and having the app.

Can we mix PB 2000 Pro and PB 1000 Pro?

Getting dual sb16s. After audyssey, would you recommend making adjustments on the MultEQ app or svs app or both? I'll be taking Rew measurements of course beforehand to see what's going on in my room
I’d recommend using the SVS app before Audyssey to fix any issues you can on each sub. Then use the MultiEQ Editor app to fine tune further or add a house curve. Svs pb1000 pro is crazy in my bedroom for small apartment on 2nd floor. I thought I needed the pb2000 pro. Its not worth the upgrade for 50% more money. In my opinion next upgrade would be atleast pb4000 pro over 1000 pro after doubling my output from old velodyne cht-8. So I would have to get atleast another 50% output

Interesting what you do with the house curve in the Audyssey app, can i ask what settings you have the sub on - i.e. AVR trim under Audessey and what volume you have the SVS set to on the app?? I have dual pb-3000, love them, hoping to get a UMIK-1 when they're back in stock over here in the UK 👍🏻
Thanks for the comment. For the subs, one is running -15dB and the other -17dB in the app (level matched SPL). Before applying the house curve, I put the sub trim level in the AVR to 0dB, set crossover to 250Hz, apply it and verify with REW, set crossover back to my optimal setting for my room/speakers (110Hz), then use REW to figure out the final trim level for the subs in the AVR. In this instance, it ended up being -3dB. Sorry if that’s a lot of info, haha.
The UMIK-1 is a great investment and can really help in making decisions for your audio and overall sound quality. Hopefully it gets restocked soon.

Great video! I have dual PB-1000 Pros, I want to upgrade them to 2KPros but right now I can only upgrade one of them. Would that be bad if one was a 2KPro and the other a 1KPro?
Definitely doable but may require a bit of fine tuning depending on their location (I use 2 PB2000 Pros up front and 2 PB1000 Pros in the rear of the room). I do use a miniDSP 2x4HD for all the calibration and EQ stuff though which I find easier.
Something I don't ever see talked about.
What about a dual sub in a single enclosure? For example I have a PSA S300I which slams. I can't imagine adding another, aside from the size. It seems like it would be "too much"
Please discuss a dual opposing subwoofer setup.
I currently have a Klipsch RS10SW ported sub, it sounds pretty good but a bit blurred at some frequencies and sometimes boomy. After watching so many videos and reading a ton of views it seemed everyone that got anything less than an PB3000 seemed to either trade up or want more saying things like "bass is addicting" so I ordered a pair of PB3000's I plan to run them with the ports plugged and in sealed mode on my Prime Tower and satellites Atmos 7.2.2 Denon system in a 4700cuft room with hardwoods.
Anyone else got them? I am in the process of making some room for them. My experience with 13" subs is that the sound tends to spill into other rooms more than the smaller ones.
Any advise is appreciated. I should have them by next week sometime.

Unfortunately I’ve never heard that sub, so I don’t have an opinion on it. Looks good on paper though, and JTR is known for making great but expensive stuff.
My question is... In an apartment, with a very small living room, do you think an extra sub is needed? Again, it is a small living room (18m²), not a dedicated room for cinema. Oh, and I have an SVS PB-1000 with a 5.1.2 configuration. Thanks.

I’m currently running three (2 in front, one directly behind the couch). I didn’t think there would be a huge difference, but boy was I wrong. Haha.

I don’t think so as long as you level match them to same volume as your speakers. Even running them a tad higher in volume will be fine.
I have 4 subwoofers in around a 120sqft room, and properly tuned/calibrated they don’t overpower anything.
I have dual pb-3ks and absolutely love them, more than enough, i can't imagine pb16s in my room
That house curve is close to what I try to do on my systems. For years I would always by ear tune that way because it sounded the most flat to my ears. Got a UMIK-1 and was surprised it wasn't flat. (Kind surprised not surprised)
Though I manually do this as my receiver has the old dumb Audyssey and I don't even have a mic for it.
My aim is more a flat line from 20Hz to 100Hz with 20Hz being +10dB.
In my car I need to tweak it more because I'm a little too hot at 20Hz being 15dB up vs 100Hz. Can only do so much without DSP. I have it in the house but not yet in the car.
Edit: looks like I jumped the gun and you had another graph after the room curve one. That's pretty much what I like my curve to look like. (Excluding that 110Hz+ haha. I gotta have it smooth across the range)

After being a part of the quad sub group for almost 2 years, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t want to go back. I love knowing I have the headroom to crank things up when I want to.
