  • The wild brown trout are at last starting to look up but that doesn't guarantee a fumbling fly fisherman like me will catch! I'm really enjoying exploring this little stream while I wait for my waders to be repaired so I an get back to the River Exe

Very enjoyable. For the last two weeks I have been trying a small stream rather like that. Very little cover me and hard going as the fish probably see me a mile away. :-) It has plenty of trout though. and last week I hooked a large one right under my feet-I thought I had stuck on a rock! But It was such a surprise, and I had too much slack-it threw the hook. But nevertheless, It's a wonderful little creek and I will keep at it. Similar problems with tangles and small bushes! Tight lines. I'm in Australia. I never wear waders. Just wading boots. neoprene socks and gaiters (we have snakes). I don't mind wet feet all, even in the cold. I do use skin lotion though. I try to keep fishing gear as simple as possible.:-)

It's too cold here in the UK for no waders, well I have done it a couple of times but I like cosy waders. Thanks for watching and really enjoyed reading your comment

@@WestCountryAngler Thanks. I put up with the cold water at times, but then again. I just don't like to be covered in gear. But you have really cold conditions I understand. I enjoy the videos. Tight lines. :-)

Great video - I think you need to change the title from 'Wasting' to 'enjoying' - you had some great rises and one to the net - that's what I call a pretty successful evening!

Hi Paul, nice to see you back on the water, we have only had a few meagre hatches in wales but the go to fly seems to be the cdc emerger and my pal has been doing very well just prospecting with it but he wades to waist deep where I won't go. I think we will all do better when things warm up a bit , I was out today and had a 1lb grayling but nothing was rising and the east wind was horrible, hope to see you on the Exe soon. mike

Thanks watching as always! The weather has been changing and staying on the cold side, I’m looking forward to the spring becoming warmer, especially as we are getting close to May. Thanks again

Thanks for your video. Could you get a bow and arrow cast in those tight spots?

Thanks for watching. I probably could but I’ve never been very good at a bow and arrow cast, something I should practice!
