This whole album is fire. One of the great power trios of all time.
Power trio with a great Scottish bass player/vocalist...sounds familiar...
AGREE 👍 FIRE 🔥
This album was my superbowl halftime show this year!!🔥🔥
James Dewar lay’n down the vocals ✌️
❤️
And that thumping bass!
The whole album is fantastic….I really like Lady Love 🤘
And going hard on the bass
Absolutely
You guys are bringing back high-school memories from the 70's. I had this in vinyl and 8 track. I wore em both out. Wish I could go back and do it again. Glad you are enjoying this. Makes an old man happy.
You and me both. I was slightly past the 8-track, but Bridge of Sighs and Victims of The Fury got worn to the nub.
lol... same! That 8-track was my bible when I was a little guitar player!
Yeah, Id take cruisin in the 67 Camaro on Whittier Blvd with Trower any day over todays daily crap. hahaha Bud liquid and Bud herb - young, dumb, good fun and some how surviving. Good times.
When I was in high school all of us guitar players considered Trower one of the greatest ever! He’s still pretty high on my list ❤❤
Robin Trower's albums in the 70's were his most prolific, his best by far IMO and they were all recorded with James Dewar, his bassist, as lead vocalist. This man's voice was unparalleled!
Trower was one of my guitar heroes, growing up in the 1970"s.
Robin Trower, one of the most underrated guitar players out there. This guy is a genius, listen to how clean. He sounds alive sometime, wow, amazing, thanks again, guys.
Great reaction again. I absolutely love your breakdowns. Robin is so criminally underrated. RIP Jimmy you were one of the great voices in Rock. Once again thank you for your honesty and musical expertise.
I'm soooo glad you guys checked out this and other Trower tunes! I REALLY hope you react to "Little bit of Sympathy"....KILLER❗️
That’s always been my favorite from this stellar record, and just a smokin’ riff on that one too..
James Dewar was one heck of a singer. Another great job by my friend Geoff Emerick whom I miss.
RIP, James. Thank You.
Oh I did not know that, Geoff was the Engineer on this record!?? No wonder it sounds so great...
again, another great song on an iconic album. im 70, and every so often i put this album on, it brings great joy, and cant believe ive been enjoying this for nearly 50 yrs. it actually gets better with time.....im glad you guys see and hear the great talents of this entire band!
I love Trower's guitar tone: thick, slinky....
When this album came out we played the hell out of . Im almost 67 years old we cruised around in a concversion van that had headphones at every seat . We jammed to this stoned out of our minds what memories. Sadly most of my friends have passed on one day we will all be together again cruising and jamming to this all over again. Enjoy my world it was a real trip to say the least ❤
*Gonna Be More Suspicious* . . . it's Wah-Wah wonderful!
Guys .. James Dewar , a brotha that died waaay too young , sang and played the bass for Robin Trower .. Trower , waaay underrated because he came along too soon after Hendrix died ….. dive deep , my friends .. listen to Alethea .. any of the Robin Trower albums with Dewar singing … one of the best rock voices who is lost in history .. Penny and the Shot Dr.
you said it all, as a hendrix fanatic, i agree with you....
The Trower catalog is massive. If I had to pick one, just one song..............."Caledonia" from his Long Misty Days album. I'm just shy of my 68th birthday and this power trio had/has sooo much to offer. RIP vocalist/bassist James Dewar. I would be remiss, if I didn't tell you guys about how much I appreciate you given your heartfelt analysis of "first take" music. Great channel..............keep it up.
Yesssss!!!!!
Heck yeah! That’s one of the best Trower tunes of all !
Robin Trower great choice. Gentleman. My father gave me a Robin Trower tape. When I was in high school back in the 90s. I listened to that tape over and over again until all my friends got tired of hearing it, God bless. Thanks for the good tunes fellas, fight the power.
Love this! Saw Robin Trower in the 70's at the Philadelphia Spectrum, and it was an awesome concert!
This is such a fine record. Every track burns.
Trower is a Treasure! James Dewar. Great singer Bass to. Jack Bruce did 9 Albums with Robin. Anything is Good 👍.
One of the greats - - - I've seen Robin in concert 5-6 times - - - so far. I hope this means you'll be reacting to the GOAT Rory Gallagher soon
I highly recommend the Robin Trower albums "Long Misty Days", "Twice Removed From Yesterday" and "Live!"
Agreed, Three fantastic albums.
One of his often ignored albums is his 1994 "20th Century Blues", with different personnel. His 1976 live album has some great performances. Then there is his collaboration with Jack Bruce of Cream on a couple of occasions. Then there were later albums where he also sang. At 78 he is still playing and has an upcoming release featuring a female singer.
Robin Trower is amazing. And still sharp as ever. How can you not love and respect Robin Trower mastering his sound so well for so long? He's stellar.
He is a living, breathing, playing ad for Fender Stratocaster Guitars! 🎸
I discovered this album by accident when I was 17 or so and it still kills. Trower Power baby! James Dewar on bass/vocals is crazy good. Robin's Strat speaks for itself. Great shit gentlemen. BTW This era Trower; Victims of the Fury album.
I literally wore the grooves off this album!!!
Great reaction!
If you haven't listened to the title track yet, Bridge of Sighs, you're missing out. To me it's the best song on the album!
Definitely Dewar's vocals are on display on Bridge of Sighs. Fantastic song.
It is his signature song and that is saying something! 🎸
They already did this track, if you search it on the channels page.
4 words ..A Little Bit Of Sympathy .. it will change your life
Oh yes!
It has been said before, but "Bridge Of Sighs" is a stand out album, in any era. Robin Trower on Guitar, backed up bu James Dewar on Bass and Vocals, fantastic. BTW, looking good in the BoSox gear, those are my boys.
It's disgusting that Jimmy Dewar doesn't get the recognition he deserves. SO many unschooled people think Robin was the vocalist.
Seen Robin Trower live in Fresno, CA back in 91'.This was with James Dewar; Sound was very clean. Met him after this show. He's one of the most humble, great human beings around. Most underrated guitar player IMHO. Thanks guys for another reaction.
Robin Trower is a musical genius. There are no bad songs on this album.
Trower is still out doing it to this day. This was probably his most successful (or popular) album…but his 70s output is pretty consistent…including a real good live album. You will always get some great guitaring,…and James Dewar’s (RIP) vocals were perfect. Great reaction!
Taj Farrant...Crossroads 14 teen year old guitar genius. Crossroads trending on I tunes number 1. He played with Carlos Santana at the house of blues when he was 9. There's a video you should check out also. Taj is from Australia currently touring the United States I have tickets for his show in Sept. BG ohio.PEACE ✌️
This is one of the best power trios in rock, if anyone ever asks what album in rock they need to hear. it's this one. James Dewar's vocals are superb, I have my original copy on vinyl
Check out Robin Trower Live! from 1975, It reminds me of the Rory Gallagher album Irish Tour 74' where for me the live versions are better than the studio versions...
Both amazing albums.
My first concert in ‘75 at 15. Still blown away by these guys.
This is another artist that the older I get the more I love Trower! He is not one of my favorite most listened to artists today and I’m in my 50s! I celebrate his entire collection too! Even the albums he’s released in the 2000s are solid.
Bridge of Sighs and For Earth Below both albums are excellent
Thanks for appreciating this under the radar rockstar. Been a fan for 50 years now.
I was 16 years old when this album came out. I am and always was a huge music fan. Almost all of the money I made back in high school, while I was working at a grocery store, was used to buy music. I had several hundred albums.
This album right here is one of only maybe 4 or 5 albums out of maybe the 600 to 700 albums I’ve owned, that I can say is perfect from start to finish. Every song is a beautiful piece of music and art. It is one of thee best albums of my lifetime. I’ve gone through several copies I played it so much.
The beautiful thing about it is it never gets old. I keep finding more things to appreciate in the music as time goes by. It is a masterpiece!👑🏆
Respect to you guys doing one of the MOST underrated ( bands, they were all great) guitarists of all time . THANK YOU
I know this is a studio album but when you hear them live they have the SAME absolute unity between the vocals and the guitar. I am old. I caught this being played on a late night FM station and put it on reel to reel; it got me through many study sessions at university!
Saw Robin in the "70's" KICK ASS SHOW!!😁😍🔥🐐🎸
I've been listening to this album since it first came out. The (very) local band I was in at the time covered this and Too Rolling Stoned, with yours truly doing his best imitation of a real drummer. Both of these songs were really fun to play, but especially Day of the Eagle. I really liked playing the outro. On the other hand, I saw Robin and band play this when this album was still new, and they showed us how it's done by the masters...a really great band. I saw Robin again decades later...and he was maybe even better. You guys really seem to get how good this whole band was.
My first real live show December 76 - Rusty Allen had just taken over on bass and James was just doing vocals - a life changing show!
The vocals everyone loves were courtesy of the late, great James Dewar. The reason he sounded so soulful is because he was a brother from Scotland.
Every trac on this album is gold.
Great example of this group/Trower. Love it.
The vocalist on the early Robin Trower albums is James Dewar, certainly one of the all time greats.
Robbin Trower was a founding member of the highly revered band "Procol Harum: Repent Walpurgis, with The Halle' Symphony Orchestra, Manchester,17 June 2001 (REM)" he achieved success with the band "Procol Harum" from 1967-1971, and then again as the bandleader of his own power trio known as The Robbin Trio or The Robbin Tower Band. This band even though, this band was considered psychedelic rock and proto-progressive rock they had heavy elements of blues and R&B infused all throughout their work. Really enjoyed listening to this one with you fellas, thanks so much for sharing
You guys need to do that whole album right there. Every song is killer no filler.
The best guitarist play a feelin.Something you can relate too cause you been there.
As with Santana, the band takes the name of the great guitarist and leader in the group. Robin Trower played guitar, James Dewar sang lead and played bass, with Reg Isidore on drums.
Trower is bad ass on the ax. Seen him several times. Always gave you your moneys worth.
I love this album. I used to play several tracks with my band back in high school. James Dewar's voice and bass playing are in a class by themselves.
Thanks Gents. Your Awesome ❤I’m just so Happy to see these reactions of what you missed out on back in the day. Just now discovering all these Great Hippie Rockers is so Awesome and I enjoy watching your reactions. Makes me Happy that your discovering so many. Keep Grooving ❤
One of the absolutely greatest fade outs ever
One of the best rock albums ever made. Period.
Great song from a great album
Thank you for doing a video I'm Robin trower grew up with this music there's another song that you two might be interested in by Santana his first album it is called you just don't care!!! Keep up the good work enjoy the channel 👍
Was turned onto this album when new back in ‘74. I am reminded of your Tower Records story, waiting for the new releases…in 74, I was a young airman, stationed at Vandenberg AFB…there was ONE pissant record shop, the new stuff dropped on Mondays….we’d save our pennies, pool it up, and buy if we thought it cool…this was such a record..still have it! Excellent reaction, guys, as is your norm!
Another one of my favorite albums. You really need it on vinyl, and to listen to it from start to finish. I haven’t listened to this in many years, but I seem to remember that great fade-out moved into a great fade-in on the next track.
I really appreciate your commentary that generally goes straight to the point, recognizing the key strengths in the music. The groove they lay down at the opening of this song just slams you into groove, but like you said, the vocal ties it all together, somehow shifting the groove up a couple of notches. Repeat listening exposes some nuance that you may not catch on the first listen. Thanks for playing it.
Now 65 still jammin.. San Antonio Texas
This was our theme song on our dorm floor in 74.
Once again, you have chosen a song from my teenage soundtrack. I love your reactions.
A MUST OWN Album.
Little Bit of Sympathy ! savage riff. excellent lyrics.
Whenever I hear Robin Trower I always think of Mahogany Rush. Probably because back in the day I listened to them both pretty often.
"In This Place" "Little Bit Of Sympathy" "Day Dream" "Long Misty Days" "Twice Removed From Yesterday" "Victims Of The Fury" "Hannah" all great Robin Trower songs featuring the one and only James Dewar on vocals and bass guitar!
I don’t even know how you guys need the vocals to make this pull you in. I love the guitar!
SO HAPPY to see ya'll enjoying TROWER!! Dewar could REALLY sing!! GREAT JAM, GUYS!!! HUGS!! ❤❤❤❤❤
If you want a groove and a kick ass bass line, try “Little Bit of Sympathy”.
YES!!! Pure 🔥
Robin Trower.... great blues rock guitarist. Prior to him forming his own group, he was a member of Procol Harem.
messin the blues from long misty days is a great track by robin trower, great vocals from james dewar again
Boys , you hit upon another under appreciated masterpiece!
A great song by Robin.Robin's guitar and Jim's vocals were great together.Their first album Twice Removed From Yesterday, and the one after this For Earth Below are also great ones to listen to,but Long Misty Days and Caravan To Midnight are also great.Try Daydream from Robin's first album, but find a live version, you will love that one.Robin can take you places that most others can't.Thanks guys!
And I'm back cleaning the kitchen of the duplex we lived in, in '74💫
I have been to hundreds of concerts. A few of those were Robin Trower. It is hard to remember much clearly but then certain moments in concerts do standout. One of those times was during when the song Daydream was performed by Robin Trower at the Granada Theatre in Chicago. I remember it so clear it was like a moment of musical bliss throughout my body and mind. I remember being mesmerized by it and looking from the stage to the audience and it seemed we were all in that same trance.
James Dewar is one of the most underrated rock n roll vocalists.
Hey fellas. This is one of my favorite Robin Trower songs! Still have this album on vinyl as well as his next album "For Earth Below". Enjoyed you reaction as always. Peace.
I don't know the vocalist's name, but when I went to see Robin Trower in the mid-70s, I was shocked to see Robin Trower doesn't sing at all. Same with Elvin Bishop, they just write and play their music, and have someone else sing for them. Robin Trower brings back a lot of good memories from the early 70s.
Thanks guys.
AWESOME 3 MAN ROCK BAND YOU GUYS AND THE LEAD SINGER WAS ALWAYS ( JAMES DEWAR ) 😊 R.I.P. ☹ AND ROBIN JUST WALES ON HIS GUITAR ALWAYS! 💯
Daydream by Robin Trower is a must listen deep track that I feel is one of the bands best songs… 🎼
Superb reaction, guys! This whole album ROCKS!!
Great song for first band i was in. Live and that ending solo goes on longer. Just saw this after watching your Dirty women by Sabbath reaction. You guys covering old set list! My favorite Trower album 20th Century Blues. Rocks!
Trower's had a bunch of albums, he's still making albums today. This was the big popular classic one. He still closes his shows today w/ Little Bit of Sympathy, try that one. I really liked his 1st album just as much, Twice Removed From Yesterday. Bunch of great tracks on it, I Can't Wait Much Longer, Daydream, Rock Me Baby, Hannah. Man of the World is worth it just for James Dewar's vocals, great singing. Trower's got a lot great tracks littered thru his albums: Somebody Calling, For Earth Below, Caledonia,
Glad you came back to Robin and what we grooved on back in the day. Another of his contemporaries you should checkout is Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush. Frank was one of the very best channelers of Jimi Hendrix. Checkout his live version of, All Along The Watchtower. Both Robin and Frank had it down.
Oh now y'all are getting into the meeting potatoes of rock and roll and blues! Peace!
During my freestyle skateboarding routine, this would play at contests. Often, I would have to remove the box speakers from the back of my car and put them on the roof and turn the 8-track up. 🙂 Takes me back...good times.
One of the great Power Trios of the 70s guitar era.
Some of my favorites of Trower are 1988 Take What You Need and 1981 BLT (with cream bassist / vocalist Jack Bruce).
Little Bit of Sympathy is top-notch off this album.
Robin Trovver is the guitarist. The singer is James Devvar, vvho is also the bass player. The drummer is Bill Lordan.
James Dewar from Scotland on vocals.
My favourite of his tracks
I was in my teen's , jammin to Robin Trower ...
Totally agree with every word you guys said as I feel exactly the same playing and listening to the virtuosity of Robin Trower's playing whom I never knew a great deal about except that he isn't singing the soulful blues rock lead vocals but rather his bassist/leas singer/co-producer, James Dewar is singing who helped Robin Trower write and co-priduce the song; You guys are right, The whole album is a Treat and filled with Classic Rock Guitar Gems. Robin had clear Jimi Hendrix (who also played a very similar Fender Stratocaster Guitar) influences as did other virtuosos like Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin and Stevie Ray Vaughan not just evident from the guitar soloing but from the faster dynamic front end of the song which is very similar to 'Machine Gun' by Jimi Hendrix regarding the choppy fast accents and the back end of the song is again very much played in a Jimi Hendrix spirit (very similar to 'Freedom' and also 'Dolly Dagger' both songs by Jimi Hendrix) where Hendrix invented many riffs that we hear played in a similar style from other virtuosos like Stevie Ray Vaughan and even Jimi Page (who went father in his own playing and writing directions inluding many famous acoustic guitar inventions) as mentioned and all three of these virtuoso guitarists (along with many more) basically took the endless ideas of what Jimi Hendrix did on the guitar and even his musical song directions and they just went their 'own way' with all those ideas powered by inspiration. This is probably considered by many as Robin Trower's greatest song along with 'Too Rolling Stoned' and 'Bridge of Sighs.' Great Reaction Video on the song guys and great commentary!
Haven’t heard this in years! A band I was in did this tune!
What a Album 🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👌😎
Thank you. More please
ROBIN TROWER SHREDS!!!☮☘
Bad Ass Tune, PERIOD!
