This track is a great example of Zeppelin's signature tempo shift, a device that adds depth and texture to several of their classics. They start with a beautiful, lyrical guitar or Plant vocal, and then to use La's phrase, they hit you upside the head with a controlled explosion of Page and Bonham. You can hear it in Stairway, Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You, Over the Hills and Far Away, and Ramble On.

My very first Aerosmith 8 track (yes 8 track) was "Toys in the Attic". I was about 14 and my parents got it for me as a present. I wanted another album but, they accidentally got me "Toys" (that had just been released) instead. I was shocked how good this album is. I played it all night long on repeat while on my headphones. "Uncle Salty" was definitely mesmerizing, especially on the headphones.

Saw The Jim Carroll Band for free at a lunch time concert back in 1984, sponsored by radio station WBCN. Of course the band, and Jim played this song and his other hit tune, "It's Too Late, (To Fall In Love With Sharon Tate)". And now it's time to say R.I.P. Jim Carroll. He died.

Jimmy and Frank recording together, It would have been the best album never made

From keyboardist Tommy Mars: "Frank wrote that song at the very beginning of the '77 european tour, and it has a personal relevance to me. We were doing this rehearsal in london and frank was getting very tense. He expected certain things to be there when we got to rehearsal, and certain things were not there. We were gonna do the song "Zoot Allures," and he started playing this 11th chord and got very angry at everybody because nothing was happening right. I got fined because I hadn't memorized this little piece called "Little House I Used To Live In." I hadn't realized he wanted it totally memorized. So this rehearsal ended in a total fiasco. The next day, he came in with these lyrics: "maybe you should stay with yo' mama. . . " it was really autobiographic; that's how things evolve with Frank."

The Basketball Diaries book by Carroll was made into a movie that is a good watch. It’s supposedly autobiographical and he obviously had quite the wild ride.
