I’m late 50s. Zep has literally permeated my whole life! Nothing since has replaced them, in my opinion, as the greatest band ever. But if you don’t like/love/ appreciate this cover… you’re just uninformed, stupid or egotisticaly untouchable. It’s Fkn great
Or maybe you just have a particular taste in music. I dont think Maynard does due justice honestly. Plant’s voice is so more clearer. Tool put too much distortion especially in the beginning. But that’s just my opinion. And the original just grooves better 😅
Let's be honest ... it's extremely difficult to cover a Zep tune and bring to the table what LZ did... I'm a big Zep head but have to give credit where credit is due... amazing job by Tool.. just having the balls to tackle this piece of work says something all in itself... thanks guys keep up the great work!!
In my opinion, it's a well done, respectable cover. To my ear, it sounds like it's coming from the cold, desolate, wastes of outer space, whereas the original sounds like its coming from interdimensional planes of existence. The original is very alluring, enticing, inviting and shiver inducing with hints of promise.
Tool are like a cross between Zeppelin and King Crimson, with their own heartbeat. You better be good coming from that place. And these dudes are that good. Goddamn.
Zeppelin has an x factor that can be best described as Romanticism, and is impossible to duplicate unless that spirit is inherent to all band members. But this is a very skillful rendition.
This cover doesn’t even “feel” like a cover. If someone heard this in a vacuum without knowledge of the original, they’d assume Tool wrote it. IMO the mark of an incredible band is the ability to make a cover their own and still pay homage to the original artist. 🌀
I discovered the sound of my people in 1970 when I heard 'immigrant song' by Led Zeppelin, fast forward to 1995 and my teenage son introduced me to Tool, today I still listen to Tool everyday and several of my grandchildren are fans! Led will always be Led to me but I love Tool's cover of No Quarter ❤🔥
Great reaction, gentlemen! 🔥 One of my top Zeppelin songs, but I must say this was an incredible version! The second half was so intense! I particularly enjoyed the way Maynard sang (towards the end of the song) “They carry news that must get through, To build a dream for me and you”. What he did with the vocal melody there was so creative and it fit so well with the arrangement. EDIT: The lyrics sounded different to me so I looked them up, and sure enough, Tool’s version does indeed have different lyrics. The portion I’d mentioned above is actually sung as “They bring news that must get through, Dying peace in me and you”. Wowww!! 🔥
@@RosettaStoned462 Well im not gonna argue that since they are my favorite band of all time, but I don't think that is relevant to my comment. Not to mention Zepplin is a main ingredient in Tool's sound and evolution, so a bit of respect is certainly due.
I agree without Plant it’s not the same but I do think the hard edge from Tool. This is what makes your show the best many different versions of the same song Thanks Guys!
I'm a true Led Head but Tool is my favorite band by far for many reasons. I think they did this cover justice and have no lost feelings for their rendition. They killed this cover in the best way!
First listen to Tool ever. I only came here as a subscriber to Airplay Beats and a huge Zep Head. I'll now probably listen to some more Tool. Great cover but just falling short of LZ. Thanks. Cheers✌
I like this and yes I’m a boomer too but I like when bands take a song and make it their own they put their little twist on it and you can definitely hear tools influence on this one just like Metallica did they took songs from the 70s and made it their own and I like that good song
Give me Led Zeppelin for sure, I give Tool props for taking it on and doing a respectable cover in their own way. At least the song stays alive when any well known band plays it. I just like Zeppelin's vibe and sound more than Tool, who sure have their own fan base and present a different type of heavy music. One thing is for certain, Zeppelin's music continues to live and always will.
It might be an unpopular opinion, but I prefer this to the original. Not by much, and I love both. This just fits a little better with my grunge playlist. It's also more bass heavy and sounds better on my sound system.
Anyone who remakes a song from the original band is showing respect of how good that song was and that the band was influenced by them. No problem with this.
I know every Led Zeppelin song. And Love them. But Tool is an amazing, amazing band. I love the fact it is done out of respect. Danny Carey, the drummer of Tool loves John Bonham and is one of his all time favorite drummers. And Tool loves Led Zeppelin. So this is basically a tribute to Zep all out of respect. Tool don't do covers, so that says quite a lot!!!!!
Nope this surpassed the suppressed and lazily expressive original, the original is good but honestly a boring song for Led Zeppelin, Tool respectful made it a fun song.
Zep is still the original and GOATed level track from Zep. It is telling when a band like Tool covers one song their whole career, and it’s this. Also is telling that zep allowed them to do it given how tightly controlled they’ve kept their music the last 60 years.
I’m glad it changed y’all’s view later lol….have to be patient 🌀👽 some people already have their mind up on when people do covers before they react. Just because it doesn’t sound exactly the same, Tool definitely knows what to do on a cover✨
Great cover, in many ways better than the original but for me the TSRTS version with the greatest live solo ever put on tape is the definitive version.
What happened to the rest of The Song Remains The Same, the blues medley alone of Whole Lotta Love is worth the effort. Never mind i found your other link, Thanks
As a hard core Zep fan, I found this interesting. It started off Zep like and then went total Tool. Took me a while to get into it, but it ended strong. I'll be back for another listen.
Both versions are incredible, but I slightly prefer TOOLs rendition for whatever reason. This is a great cover because it simultaneously pays homage to the original, while totally making it true to their bands sound. This sounds like a tool track. I think a lot of comments are underestimating Maynard as a vocalist. While he doesn’t have the upper range of Plant, I think he more than makes you for it with his power and ferocity
Really excellent cover with a different menacing vibe! I love the live version from the original The Song Remains the Same soundtrack--not the 2018 remaster which used different tracks from the three-night stand at Madison Square Garden. Bonham was a monster, Danny Carey is ferocious enough to do this one.
You dudes' timing is impeccable here. Right after your break when you said that musically it's the same, Tool takes it away in its style. Bravo! JPJ wrote this song, btw.
Totally appreciate that a band of Tool's caliber attempted this immortal song. Is it better than the original? I don't think any band could surpass Plant/Page. 😊
You touched on the real issue, comparison wise. Not a good decision to distort Maynard’s voice in this version. Maynard has the chops to stand up to Robert Plant. Bad decision to tweak with his vocals.
If you guys start going down the TOOL rabbit hole you won't come back. They are the incredible musicians and the lead singer is awesome. PLEASE start listening and reacting to their albums. You will be blown away and hopefully become part of the TOOL army! Their music is heavy and "progressive". Their sound is unlike anything you have heard. No other band comes close to them. They are "Invincible" (hint hint). Seeing them live is a religious experience.
OF COURSE Zeppelin is better and their version is better... appreciate it for what it is, another band's version...and they put some work into that. I think it's a great tribute. ...yeah, but it's not like my mom's recipe.... ugh
I prefer Jason Bonham's band for doing LZ covers. If you ever have a chance to see his band GO!!! I can appreciate any band's respect to the mighty, mighty Led Zeppelin. Tool is very talented. ❤😊
Cool, But some bands wants to sound more heavy,, Saxon and Square than Zepp itself (and they were funky)...The Led Zepp tribute album "Encomium" has some interesting covers of Zep songs. Especially Mana’s cover of “fool in the rain”. It may not be better than the Zepp original but it's great because being a Mexican band, Mana is right at home given the Latin feel of "Fool in the rain" , even playing with Mariacci style
Led Zeppelin's spookiest song.
Tool did the song right.
Much respect for Tool.
I’m late 50s. Zep has literally permeated my whole life! Nothing since has replaced them, in my opinion, as the greatest band ever.

A darker, brooding version of an already dark piece of music. Both are truly amazing works.
I'm a huge Tool fan. its so fun for me watching people discover Tool for the first time
If you play Tool, the Tool Army will follow in your journey.
Here,!
Love this cover. LZ's is beautiful, this one's haunting.
well said,
I had no idea they covered this song but leave it to this quality channel to bring it out to everybody👍👍
I love them both
Good choice my guys! Thanks for the tuesday lift!
Let's be honest ... it's extremely difficult to cover a Zep tune and bring to the table what LZ did... Check out The Main Squeeze's version!

Defiantly need more Tool on the channel.
That's an exceptional description and comparison.
@@kaybee4143 Thank you. 🙂 I do love my Zep!
Well said 👌🏻

If I had to choose one reaction channel to cover this track, you guys are it!
Danny Carey adds his part beautifully. He accented like Bonham when needed then added parts without losing the main theme. Amazing drummer.
He made the song
Exactly .. making it his own, while remaining faithful to Bonham.
From another boomer perspective love it and love tool
This cover doesn’t even “feel” like a cover. If someone heard this in a vacuum without knowledge of the original, they’d assume Tool wrote it. IMO the mark of an incredible band is the ability to make a cover their own and still pay homage to the original artist. 🌀
Never got into Tool, but thumbs up for La and Che, as always.
Wow, this is bad ass Bros... solid cover. 😎

My 2 favorite bands

Tool kicks ass❤❤❤❤
I don't think there was any beef between fanbases on this one. Tool fans and Zepplin fans are largely the same breed :) This was an amazing cover.
Facts, my dude. Preach on.
Word but Tool is superior in many ways imo.
@@RosettaStoned462 Well im not gonna argue that since they are my favorite band of all time, but I don't think that is relevant to my comment. Not to mention Zepplin is a main ingredient in Tool's sound and evolution, so a bit of respect is certainly due.

Love the Bass in this. Tool Army!!
One of the best reimagined covers I’ve ever heard. I’m glad you two listened to it.
It's a great cover fantastic live I'm sure and lucky those who have seen it!
I'm a true Led Head but Tool is my favorite band by far for many reasons. I think they did this cover justice and have no lost feelings for their rendition. They killed this cover in the best way!
Be sure to listen to Zeppelins No Quarter LIVE !!!
If you'd never heard the original, I can see where it would be interesting. But knowing the original, that's my preference.
🌀👁🌀
Love both versions !
I'm a zeppelin fan . Then I heard Tool's version of no quarter. Now I'm a Tool's fan. Very talented musicians, just like Led Zeppelin
This was recorded live. The best. 🌀
First listen to Tool ever. I only came here as a subscriber to Airplay Beats and a huge Zep Head. I'll now probably listen to some more Tool. Great cover but just falling short of LZ. Thanks.
Cheers✌
I had this DVD set ABSOLUTE fire
Loved watching y'all feel what they did with it. Great reaction sirs!

That was a homage. How you're supposed to do a cover song. Not note for note. Can enjoy both in their own light,
Love both versions
ive been a Tool fan for over 20 years and haven't heard this song, ya'll are in a deep rabbit hole.
Come on? How do you call yourself a tool fan????????? You must be a very, very, very casual fan.
I think it’s a wonderful cover of a wonderful song.
Monumental
Thanks!

Such a great cover
More of Tool please ❤❤❤
Go Laa. Go Chee! Not Zeppelin but gooood stuff!

Never listened to Tool. Not in my wheelhouse, too heavy for my taste, but respect.
Led Zeppelin just set the bar to high for most bands now a days...WHEN GIANTS WALKED THE EARTH 🌎
LED ZEPPELIN ❤
Nothing beats the original LED zeppelin!
This cover of the greatest cover band is better than the original.
This is damn clothes
Nope this surpassed the suppressed and lazily expressive original, the original is good but honestly a boring song for Led Zeppelin, Tool respectful made it a fun song.
Except this.
Any other band would have been terrible covering this.
Thanks for the Tool song. Tool just kicks ass. That simple.

Here we go
Great cover, in many ways better than the original but for me the TSRTS version with the greatest live solo ever put on tape is the definitive version.
Have seen rock's greatest drummers, and so chuffed to go see Danny Carey in Oct. His skin is made of drum skins.
Love this live !!!
What happened to the rest of The Song Remains The Same, the blues medley alone of Whole Lotta Love is worth the effort. Never mind i found your other link, Thanks
We haven’t gotten there yet. We just posted Moby today

Ill take the first part Zep with a fade to Tool 3 quarters in to finish up. Tools ending is amazing
Love TOOL 😌✌
Sounds good , thanks guys.
I saw Led Zep do this live. This cover is a lot better than I thought that it would be...

GUYS THIS IS JPJ AND GONZOS SONG😮
I liked it!

One of the best Zeppelin covers has to be Dancing Days by Stone Temple Pilots
Great great cover AP ☘️
LA and CHI you should check out Robert Plant Pictures At 11 solo album great vocals and under rated band.
Excellent album!
If y’all wanted to do more from them, and Deftones, we wouldn’t be opposed…
It's a good cover. But Robert Plant takes it to another level a true original voice. 😊
Still beats greta van fleet
I could fart into a fan and beat van fleet.😂
More tool reactions ❤
Spiral out! Peace
The music is great, I don't care for the computer sounding Ozzy voice. It's all subjective. Thanks La and Che. I have never heard this song.
Totally appreciate that a band of Tool's caliber attempted this immortal song. Is it better than the original? I don't think any band could surpass Plant/Page. 😊
Is this the first TOOL y’all listened to? If so, why a cover? Must be recommended. Ok. 🌿🌸
