    I don't do sports videography, but because your video is so detailed and at the same time simple to understand you have earned a subscription from me. My main camera is an A7IV and I agree with you on the versatility and I believe that's the main reason people by this camera. Also I will be scrubbing through your videos and maybe sports videography is something I can try out.

    Greetings, this was an insightful video for me. I have purchased the FX-30 and own an a7 3. The FX30 lends itself to a more production or cinematic application of a camera unit, while I think the a7 4 and my a7-3 go along the lines for more videography. I was just surprised when you did your interviews that the FX30 with much better audio control didn't factor in to your opinion on this. I do like the concept of the a74 but with the inconsistency with the overheating issues, be they intermittent with various people, and the really noticeable jello effect when panning the camera or a fast moving object in the camera frame. But I do like the A7-4 as a good hybrid camera although I might have to consider the A7-5 was well.

    Picked up an A74 this summer. Thought I was home free with heat issues, being able to make it through football games without a problem, getting b-roll the whole time, pre and post interviews. Winter rolls around and now, indoors, my camera started melting in the gym for basketball/wrestling/etc. at 4K60. Even after doing all the heat management tricks, I still have to shut down during half and go out into New York weather to air the thing out. I don't regret going my route but I'll probably be saving for an FX30 as a second camera over my next expensive lens or gimbal or what have you.

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  Před rokem +1

    • @carltonjones2915
      @carltonjones2915 Před rokem +1

      Great point about the overheating and consistency with the Sony a7-4, this is why I opted to get the FX30 because of the more consistent operation without overheating and less Jello effect, although I realize this is because of the smaller sensor in that camera.

    I need an A7IV with a fan, it gets really really hot in the summer where I live but I don’t want to sacrifice for the low light capabilities to switch over to the FX30, I guess I have to save for an A7SIII or an FX3

  • @dusty_burkhalter
    @dusty_burkhalter Před rokem +1

    Definitely want to add an FX30 but for me the A7IV with full frame sensor is a better option for my sports use and stadiums. 4K120 on the FX30 would be at ISO 6400 or much higher in the sports environments I shoot in. With basketball and a 2.8 lens I can shoot at 3200 ISO which is the second native ISO and the image is so clean.

  • @kingweddingmedia
    @kingweddingmedia Před rokem

    Thanks for touching on the mode dial! That’s one thing I’ve been trying to find out with the fx30, is how easy it would be to switch between different memory recalls, as I do weddings and regularly switch between 25fps, 50fps and 100fps and on the A7iv it’s a simple flick of a switch.
    With the fx30, if I was already in say memory recall 1, would it be a case of pressing the mode button, clicking down once and then enter to get into memory recall 2? So in other words, when you go back into the mode screen, does it stay at the position you are currently in or default back to the first option and I’d have to scroll down all the way to get to memory recall 2 each time? Sounds like a small gripe but speed on a wedding day can be crucial! Thanks!

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  Před rokem +1

      Pretty sure it stays in position so when you click back to that menu it will start on the memory recall preset that you’re already using and you can move from there

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  Před rokem +1

      That’s a tough decision because it depends what the lighting looks like in the environments you film in as the FX30 won’t be as good with low light as the A7IV. It’s kind of a trade off between high frame rate recording and low light performance.

    • @petersarellas
      @petersarellas  Před rokem +1

      @@diegogarcan biggest difference would be the crop factor so you’d have to use wider lenses on the fx30 to get the same frame, but quite honestly cameras are so good nowadays that if you light a shot well it will look good with almost any modern mirrorless or cinema camera

    • @diegogarcan
      @diegogarcan Před rokem

      @@petersarellas Yes of course! I also have a zv e10 and it looks great, and while in a controlled environment it might look like a professional camera, there is still a significant difference when compared to an A7SIII, FX3 or FX30. I don't have that same feeling, for example, between an A7SIII and the FX30. As you say, removing the crop factor and the depth of field, I consider that the quality of the image, the color and so on, is practically the same. So I think for CZcams videos in a studio it would make more sense to go with the FX30 in most cases.
