    I have the Zoom Fly 4, good for Tempo runs not much with easy runs, I got it for 110$ so its fine. With that Zoom Fly 5 price point I’d rather get the new Novablast 3 with the upgraded FFBlast+

    Shame about the negativity around this shoe. I haven't tried it and don't plan on trying it, but I'd like to try and take ED Bud's view that not every shoe can be soft and responsive like a vaporfly and that Nike actually meant this but idk. I have been tempted to buy the zoom fly 3s though as they're only around 70 pounds on sportsshoes. Good vid despite the let-down of this shoe

    • @BenIsRunning
      @BenIsRunning  Před 2 lety +5

      The running shoes market is so competitive now so when a shoe doesn’t come close to its competitors I understand why it gets the negative reviews across the board. If this didn’t have zoom x written on the side of it I think it wouldn’t have been such a let down. It’s comfortable and fairly affordable but certainly not one I’ll be doing any tempo work in moving forward

    • @deanevans3968
      @deanevans3968 Před 2 lety +1

      @@BenIsRunning I suppose if your familiar to the actual good zoom x foam that would play a factor. For someone like me who wouldn't know what to expect from zoom x it might not be as bad. I'm on the look out for a new tempo shoe though and I could probably name 2 or 3 cheaper options that have better opinions around it

    Some say weight does not matter in shoes but was amused to note the Zoom Fly 5 in your UK 7.5 is the same weight as my Speed 3 in a UK 13 and the Speeds aren't exactly super light. I imagine you have a several pairs of road shoes that weigh less than one of my Zoom Fly 5 (one of mine is 388g).

      Different shoe entirely. 3 and 4 are bottom heavy bricks. These despite being heavier, won't really feel it with how the upper and midsole come together. This shoe will be somewhat softer between the SR-02 carrier and ZoomX scraps replacing the React foam of versions 3 and 4. This shoe is also much wider in the heel and midfoot, making it far more stable. Give it a shot.

      @media1981 Před 2 lety

      @@BenIsRunning Oh I will give them both the same opportunity eventually but what I experienced from the first alphafly out of the box was 'SENSATIONAL' and it never disappointed me. However the 2nd version wasn't. I wouldn't even say it's same as previous version but worse since I can compare now. It's heavier and clunky and it does affect the final lapse time too. The onlything I like about it is the colorway. But I prefer the white proto version more which I don't have..

    Other than it being a little loud. It’s a great shoe for racing, and faster workouts that I think will last way longer than other Nike racing shoes. I find it very comfortable for forefoot running. You can feel the extra push from the plate. The arch is a little stiff for me so it’s only going to be used for faster stuff. Also it’s really cheap. I got it on sale for 126$

  • @runfrankfurt
    @runfrankfurt Před 2 lety +3

    @Ben:
    you say as a positive that it is a good pricepoint because you can use it for easy and tempo runs etc.
    Then afterwards you say one dislike is the weight that would disqualify it from doing your tempo runs in it…
    Yea, ok… 😉
    If you eliminate speedwork from its capabilities (too heavy and not responsive enough) then you have lots of other and better options out there don‘t you think?
