I'm not even convinced she's criminally culpable, and was still floored she said that. I'm trying to remain unbiased, so right now my [hopefully] unbiased opinion is that her testimony did her no favors thus far. I don't know a ton about a lawyer's restrictions, but wondering why her lawyer didn't advise her not to say that. What was she thinking? (Edit is replacing my last sentence)

While all those warning signs were there, you are also failing to acknowledge how difficult it is to actually get mental health services for kids. If he wasn’t actively suicidal or didn’t admit to being homicidal (especially without insurance) it’s very unlikely he would have been given help immediately. He wouldn’t have met criteria for an inpatient stay based on the information presented.
Our country values second amendment rights when guns are clearly part of the problem. Our country says “it’s a mental health issue” but we don’t value humans enough to provide universal health care. People can’t actually access mental health services. These things aren’t happening in other countries, this is unique to the U.S. Until we solve what makes us different we aren’t going to get anywhere with mass shooters. She was negligent in her parental actions, but other parents of mass shooters have not been held to the same level of accountability. This situation is terrible, sad and PREVENTABLE! It’s going to take more than charging each individual to solve this issue.

Already lying 6 minutes in. Her attorney put words in her mouth, thought there were" injuries"? then jc said she "could handle the injuries". Surely, jurors have picked up on this... As well as her previous testimony earlier in the day the lies. Not credible, inconsistent testimony.
Prosecutors will point out jc asked Brian the lover to delete msgs and clear cache..."cash aye" as her idiotic atty pronounced it.
Said she was never charged. Atty: never charged with anything of this magnitude? Jc: not of this magnitude... So what had she been charged with? 🤔
So she can get medical care for herself and her husband (4 Xanax each? Wow) for anxiety but not get it for her son who showed definite anxiety symptoms through his texts prior to shooting.
Ironic she and husband woke up with guns in their face

If they felt unsafe showing up at the station (her only reason for not turning themselves in that night) then call the station, say where you are and that you feel unsafe. They'll come pick you up. Basically her lawyer's terrible advice turned them into fugitives when Jennifer thinks it was all innocent. Ok, so at 06:19, this so called defence lawyer, 🙄 is LITERALLY testifying!, & all with no objection from the prosecution! 😖 A trial this important, being tried by these people! Yikes! Who else would be at least, uncomfortable, leaving the jury, pondering the fact that in ANY WAY, these parents consider themselves "victims?" I know I wouldn't ! Tomorrow should be interesting! See y'all then!...

She testified already that her son was on Dad’s insurance and that after he lost his job in October she planned to add him to her insurance during open enrollment in November and at which point they’d have pursued other medical options. Obviously without insurance the cost of a shrink alone ($300-$800 per hour) is prohibitive let alone insurance rejecting her son’s preexisting condition if they’d tried to see doctors before enrolling. And who’s to say that seeing a shrink would have changed the outcome.. people in care don’t all go on to heal and besides, shootings don’t happen everyday, it’s like 1 in 300million and so unless she was psychic, how was this unfortunate mom supposed to foresee her son being a shooter and especially if it’s never even happened in the entire state of Michigan? Let’s be very weary of passing judgement because this could just well be anyone dealing with a tough teenager and faced with only so many options. And shrinks aren’t a magic bullet either, many people have gotten worse and so it doesn’t guarantee anything or that it would somehow reverse the incidents.. we see vets commit suicide everyday even during medical care and so again I insist, it’s a classic hypothetical that if they’d gone to see a shrink that day that it would have somehow lifted all their problems and cured the boy. Unless you haven’t dealt with a tough indignant teenager, it’s always easier said than done and not to forgot, hindsight is always 20/20!

Open and shut case against the parents. They were called to the school, saw the disturbing drawings and writings and still withheld the fact they had bought him s gun the week before. What's more, they REFUSED to take him home and get him mental health.
Her testimony did her no favors. I actually think worse of her now. I didn't think that's possible. Her attorney seems to be making it worse for her as well. Her initial string of questions sounded like what would've come from the prosecution rather than the defense. It sounded as if the attorney was getting it on the record that her client has no case for "ineffectual counsel" because she knew all the dangers of testifying.
It's open and shut. They were negligent when they hid from the school that he had a gun and refused to take him as requested. Parents are the main problem with schools today. They view teachers and principals as the enemy

Because as a parent who sends their child out into the world with others, YOU, are responsible for the damage they do, when you fail to see the warning signs. This child needed intervention, & anyone with the IQ of a watermellon, can see the from the testimony this far. It's like if you own a dog. If you allow that dog out off leash into the community, & it rips someone's face off, guess what?, you're responsible! It's no different. Ask yourself this; why are they called children? Why don't we call them, small adults? Why do we have children's hospitals? Because they are not small versions of adults. Their brains are not fully developed. They require the assistance/ caaretaking, of adults, to survive to an age where they can live on their own. Until then, a parent is assigned to them, & is "responsible" FOR them. If & when you neglect that responsibility, then that makes YOU, the responsible person. It's all part of the social contract...hope that helped!..take care!...💁🏻‍♀️

I understand. There is a "felony murder law" that also does this. So for example; 4 teens rob a store & agree not to hurt anyone, but something goes wrong & only 1 teen decides to shoot, all 4 are charged with murder. We should have murderers locked up for murder, and burglars locked up for burglary. If they feel she was negligent, charge her with negligence. Manslaughter is unintentionally killing somebody, but killing somebody nonetheless.

Except they bought him the gun. Did not secure it properly or supervise their child appropriately. Further, they deliberately overlooked his mental crisis.
Their outright negligence directly led to this travesty.

@@AliceA333You cannot legally buy a gun for a juvenile. The gun wasn’t locked up, which was proven when police served the warrant and found that the lock on the case had not even been taken out of its original packaging. She KNEW Ethan had mental problems and even texted a friend that he was “depressed.” This lady’s text messages alone are enough to convict her. She even sent a picture of that scary drawing to a friend and said she thought Ethan was going to do something stupid.

I just don’t understand and I don’t get it how these parents are responsible for what their kid did. I was raised with guns. There was guns all around me and I was a typical teenager. I don’t think today should get this punishment. I just don’t and I know I’m gonna get a bunch of replies, saying that they neglected him and all this crap, if that’s the case that every school shooter, their parents should go through the same exact thing I’m sure they were in complete and utter shock. She loves her son look what happened. Everybody is hurt in the situation everybody nothing good comes out of this he admitted what he did was wrong he took responsibility for it. How many people do you need to put in prison for one person’s actionand bringing up the whole her having an affair. What does that have to do with anything?

I don't agree with you, but I have a question. Do you believe, there was nothing the parent could have, or should have done, that would have kept this from happening? Also, can you think of things your parents did, that perhaps, if these people would have done, could have kept this from happening? You ask a fair question, rd now many people need to go to prison? I honestly think, that very possibly, the authorities in this area, are frustrated, & fed up, & figure, let's prosecute the parents, & see if we can't frighten people into being better parents, & sadly, the answer is no. No you cant! So, that's what I think anyway! Take care! 💁🏻‍♀️
