My son is 15 and he gets upset if he says I love you and it takes me a min to respond. I believe kids who don’t say “I love you” to their parents is because the parents don’t show them enough affection and they feel it’s abnormal to even say or show affection.
My parents were great but not very emotional we knew they loved us but they never kissed or hugged us in fact my dad, mom, and sister all passed it felt weird to hug or kiss them goodbye I stayed by their side till their last breath I thanked them and said I love u gave them a hug and even that felt off to me! if any of you saw the court procedings leading up to this trial then you saw Jennifer trying to signal her husband and whisper to him thats why her hands were shacklled around her waist. Judge ordered it got tired of all the crap she was doing.
Jennifer did terrible on the stand. She is charged with gross negligence, no one is saying she should know everything about her kid. It's simple, she was grossly negligent in ignoring a troubled child asking for help, additionally the parents illegally bought him a gun and never kept it safe or locked up. At the end of the day that alone is gross negligence, even disregarding the fact she was called into the school THAT DAY and refused to take him to get help when school counsellors were insisting she does within 48 hours or they would contact CPS.
They should have contacted the police immediately. They could have taken him into protective custody. CPS is useless, but they should have been called immediately. They failed protecting all the kids by saying we give you 48 hours. School counselors are inept
Why though did the school allow him to remain on campus after telling his mother to get him help? I think multiple people are culpable, the father especially, and Jennifer but also the school officials. He wasn't just deranged he was also looking up ammo and drawing pics of guns and dead bodies. The school should have said he cannot return unless he is evaluated by a psychiatrist and cleared safe to be around other kids. Unfortunately we live in a world with people like Jennifer having kids and more needs to be done to prevent senseless deaths.
@@lydias2989 I agree, but the school didn't have all the information and with Jennifer's excuse that Ethan likes drawing/designing video games. Plus they were concerned about self harm and didn't want him to be alone so Jennifer basically manipulated the school into letting him stay by saying she had to return to work immediately and he would have to walk home alone was the deciding factor, the counselor did set a 48 hour time limit for him to get help. Still everyone should have checked his bag, especially Jennifer and James considering the first thing they did when they heard there was a shooting at the school wasn't to rush there to be with Ethan it was to rush home and check for the gun..
@@lydias2989 i think at least one of the parents not sure if all four of the kids that were shot parents are in on this but one wants to hold the school responsible and i think there may be a law suit in the works. At least thats what i heard one of the fathers say on local tv.

@@JustOneOpinion Are you of the opinion that they shouldn’t be charged? I’m not American but have been following this case but I’m not sure they should be charged with the murders he committed? But you have to admit, there were plenty of things they should have and shouldn’t have done. I wouldn’t have bought my depressed child a gun and when he asked for help I would have gotten him help. I also would have taken him out of school the day I was called up to see those drawings. They should have told the school he had a gun too but hindsight is 20/20. The parents did do a lot of things to protect themselves afterwards. I would have been devastated that four kids were dead and more with lifetime injuries. I certainly wouldn’t have thought about draining my kids bank account and running. Good grief did I just hear the defense attorney tell the judge it’s very distracting to hear object object from the prosecutor? This is a very high profile case, and they couldn’t do any better than this judge, and this defense attorney?
This defense attorney is horrendous and out of control and so is the judge. Since when is she in control of the states objections? The judge just lets her do whatever she wants, they both need their licenses revoked.
I’m fairly sure that no one could be as annoying as the defense, but man.. it’s a close call. She is not just annoying, she is horrible at her job. All of the things she says she “isn’t going to go through” are the exact things she should be going through. It might help to humanize her client. Didn't she say in her testimony that she never had anything to with the guns or bullets, "that was all James". Then she just said that James asked her where she hid the bullets. She doesn't take any accountability for her son

Most trials I've watched, the defense attorneys have the defendant look much more spiffed up and professionally attired than this. She looks like death warmed over twice. The defense couldn't get her a couple of suits to wear to court?
It's part of the image they purposely want to portray in order to better manipulate the jury and public's perceptions/emotions. They want her to look absolutely pitiful, as the only "out" for her is pity and shame. Regardless, her selfish personality and lack of empathy are apparent.

jailhouse diet is probably very carb heavy plus not a lot of opportunity for exercise. From her hair and general demeanor she's given up caring, and knows her life will never be the same.
I was thinking the same. She has change so much… all her natural hair color is gone. She has gained so much weight and it looks like she has some major hormonal issues plus maybe so much cortisol. I wonder how she felt seeing her boyfriend for the first time after two years….
What would leaving for the day have done? he would have come back the next day and done the same thing. The school tried to get him into therapy. the mother refused. You have to have parental consent for a minor to enter therapy.
If they’re holding the parents accountable. Why are they not holding the school accountable? It looks like they dropped the ball on a lot of things as well. Aren’t they mandated reporters?
First of all, the school was unaware they bought him a gun 3 days prior. When JC was there she downplayed the situation, however, the school insisted they take him to a therapist. Had she revealed he had a gun, they would have checked his backpack and locker, and 4 lives would be saved.
I feel like the school should be held accountable. The consoler thought Ethan was a danger to self or others and did nothing, legally that's negligence, yes there is professional responsibility and ethical responsibility
Why did she keep looking at the jury and talking directly to them? Doesn’t she know Amber. Heard did that and it was beyond annoying? I’ve been on the jury and it’s absolutely beyond annoying. Knowing the way this defense attorney is defending her in such an unprofessional manner I bet you she told her to look at the jury directly....
"Please don't" she txted him. She already said her mind went to school shootings and that shooters mostly kill themselves after. "Please don't seems a bit of a bland nondescript text - why not "Ethan, don't hurt anyone or yourself? " Did they purposely hire a defence attorney this inept? Does anyone know if it is a public defender of a lawyer they hired?

This trial will go down in history and not for the obvious reasons that it’s the first time parents have been charged, but for the fact that no.1 it was “the Shannon Smith show” no.2 the judge lost the run of her courtroom on day one and was completely unprofessional one example being when her solution to a prosecution problem was telling counsel to “go home” and Shannon Smith’s completely disgraceful hugging and touching the defendant and her disgusting and disrespectful turning around to stare at parents friends family and community affected forever by her clients son and her client
Nah the atty made sure she asked if she agreed with stuff if it was ok with her and then the judge asks her if she understands like could claim ineffective counsel all losers do that
Except that the judge is on it, and she swore JC in, and specifically advised her of the dangerous waters she is treading in, and JC chose to go forward, specifically saying she trusts her attorney. The judge and prosecution made sure to put that on the record to protect against appeal.
She said it was out of the Blue for him to write I love you. Then she was asked did you respond back I love you.... And she said I don't know. I guarantee you that was his last text to his mother to see if she loved him and when she didn't respond back that she loved him, that was it for him.... So very sad.
She qualified that to say all her contacts and phone numbers. That she was facing the biggest crisis in her life and losing her only means to communicate with people. For example, later, she needed her phone to do what her boss asked her to do: delete her linked in and instagram because her company information was all over those. She was helpless to do that, because of two factor authorization set up on her phone. In this day and age, the majority of us have everything on our phones: social media accounts, contact information for friends, family, banking, email...
Dad drove for Door Dash..he makes his own hours..he could have took Ethan home from school that day...Jennifer could have also according to her boss, the COO of the company...he said they were a "family friendly" company...school's responsible also..caught looking up ammo during 1 class and drawing a pic of a gun, death and destruction on a math worksheet, begging for help..and then he just goes back to class and a couple of hours later opens fire and kills 4 kids and injures 7 others and traumatized the entire school and other kuds in other schools...my Grands live about 15 miles from there...even joked about gow heavy Ethan's backpack was, yet didnt even search it..mind boggling...

After watching all of the witness testimony, and suffering the unconrollable sniffing and crying by Jennifer Crumbly. I'm shocked at how calmly this woman speaks about the events of that day! She, all of a sudden, is completely passive and unaffected by the content now. The way she is speaking directly to the jury as though giving a presentation about an everyday topic! Also, she said she was asked to go to the police station because her son was there, so why would you think he was dead? You would be asked to go to a hospital if your son was hurt or dead. Weird resonses and actions from this woman IMO.
I think that this family has issues from a child rebellious and trying to make him happy and a mom who is unhappy herself to reach out to another and have an affair so that says to me the marriage was stressed I think anyone of us if we were in there position would feel scared hurting for the families her son took away. This family will never recover from this ever and the guns were all in dads name why so many guns when you don't have the second income to support those purchases. My biggest question is why didn't they stop with the gun purchases when finances are tight. Why didn't they get a gun safe and lock them up. That is negligence on dads part as well as hers but maybe the subject did come up and no one is asking. No win on this they all will be put in jail and I'm sure this marriage is over. The son will never get out of jail I pray that he gets help which we know doesn't always happen. It's very sad. Right?! She immediately changed her story.
Makes zero sense- full of “explanations” kind of like Charlie adelson
Yep, when she answered the next question without the defense att even asking it yet, and the defense said "that was going to be my next question thank you" It was a dead giveaway they obviously rehearsed this heavily.
Of course it is rehearsed. They prep you before you testify

Mom or her lawyer?
IMO, I don’t like either one. I went in open minded because I am a gun owner, a responsible gun owner, but I don’t like her, her story, her lawyer, her parenting…. I will listen to the rest of the evidence but I am leaning guilty. 🤷♀️
@@jennifers8843Both!
They both came from extremely large families one 15 and the other 20 that's many to just get ready to feed and cloth
I have learned the importance to say I love you to my kids and grandkids after every conversation, sometimes they say it back, sometimes they don’t but I don’t ever want them to forget how much I love them
Her lawyer is the most unqualified lawyers ever and the judge 😮
Right behind Alina Habba! Lol 😂
It’s because she knows she already sucks at her job lol
She knew her son was struggling. You don't give him a gun! She has to take responsibility. Instead she will blame the husband & he will blame her. If she knew he was upset she should have taken him home. Stop making excuses! Guilty both of the parents! Her lawyer is a total ditz!
if any of you saw the court procedings leading up to this trial then you saw Jennifer trying to signal her husband and whisper to him thats why her hands were shacklled around her waist.
At the end of the day that alone is gross negligence, even disregarding the fact she was called into the school THAT DAY and refused to take him to get help when school counsellors were insisting she does within 48 hours or they would contact CPS.
exactly
She could've called the police to coordinate her and James turning themselves in....but no they go to an art studio and hide out.
I don't believe her at all. Her lawyer has coached her and is a bad defense lawyer. Guilty...imo.
They were running, that building was about 3 blocks from the Windsor bridge into Canada, or north an hour. 6 am alarm, on the road.
She speaks as though it’s just another day. Her son murdered other people’s children. I’d never get over that if I had been his mother. That is horrific.
Wow....she has had over a year to digest all.of this and still said on the stand she wishes he would have killed her and you still judge. Please never have kids
@@JustOneOpinion oh please, stop with the theatrics. It’s been a year for her but the parents of the children her son murdered will have a lifetime of torment knowing what fear their children felt while dying.
@kathrynrose155 tgise are 2 selerate topics and issues. Again...I am sure you will be a perfect mother
If you saw her in the very first interview where children were still on route to the hospital, she was on her phone deleting messages and sending messages to her boyfriend. But do most Americans think the parents should be charged?
@kathrynrose155 this trial and experiencing the hatred from others like here in CZcams comments....has changed my mind. I also 100% believe the moms who hate on her and neglecting their own kids to come online and bash her. It's been eye opening. The woman is a victim of her horrible husband which led her down a bad path but at least she tried....the husband did nothing. Not even 1% a man. I supported charges but have changed my mind and if she stays in prison I am writing her.
First she says she saw the “I love you” text. Thought it was strange, but texted him back “I love you too”. Then she says she found out there was a shooter at the school and that’s when she saw the I love you text and screamed into her phone don’t do it.
Which is it lady?
Her lawyer is a wacko.
So who is more annoying? The judge or the defense?
Both
I’m fairly sure that no one could be as annoying as the defense, but man.. it’s a close call.
She is not just annoying, she is horrible at her job. All of the things she says she “isn’t going to go through” are the exact things she should be going through. It might help to humanize her client.
I wonder if anyone is telling her how ineffective her counsel is.
Or the constant paper shuffling and noise in the court room!
Yes
Equally both
"My life is in my cell phone"..yeah,and your SON is in a CELL!!😒
Jennifer DOESN’T look at the jury when she’s lying.
Didn't she say in her testimony that she never had anything to with the guns or bullets, "that was all James". Then she just said that James asked her where she hid the bullets. She doesn't take any accountability for her son
Signs of a typical bad parent/person!
Anyone else notice the dramatic difference in her physical appearance since her initial interrogation?
No Eyebrows .
Big difference
On purpose maybe? Like, woe is me… Look at little old me… Look how this is aging me
Of course, it could just be the truth though!
Stress, lack of exercise in jail, and bad jail carbs
she is obviously not mentally all there and wasn't before all this happened from the behavior and parenting we now know of.
Oh my gosh, this defense attorney is unreal! Honestly I don’t know how she passed the bar exam. She sounds like a spoiled, whiny jr. high girl. She is not professional what so ever! I’ve never ever heard or seen an attorney behave this way, she is really embarrassing herself.

and shampoo and a comb?
It's part of the image they purposely want to portray in order to better manipulate the jury and public's perceptions/emotions. They want her to look absolutely pitiful, as the only "out" for her is pity and shame. Regardless, her selfish personality and lack of empathy are apparent.

Crazy how obvious it is that she was "coached" to call Ethan her "son." It's not working.
Yes, like Alex Murdaugh and his Paw Paw cringe when speaking about his son Paul. It's just creepy because it sounds so unnatural.
That defense lawyer is a disrespectful cow, she comes across as the type of spoiled brat that has never heard the word NO and that mother is lying through her teeth, her and her husband failed their son, plain and simple and now she's trying to look like mother of the year and it's not working.

She put a tracking device on her husband but she was the one cheating. They bought auction house fix that 1st don’t take on any other projects like horses or cheating, or a gun range. Did junniffer crumbly have a mental evaluation in jail. She clearly have problems. And should be charged. The house was filthy and whiskey in eathan room. You would throw a 15 year old out? What's wrong with you?
I can’t believe how her physical appearance has changed since all of this. To have gained so much weight while incarcerated surprises me.
jailhouse diet is probably very carb heavy plus not a lot of opportunity for exercise. From her hair and general demeanor she's given up caring, and knows her life will never be the same.
I thought this was Jennifer crumbleys mother at first. She aged 20 yrs since the shooting.
I was thinking the same. She has change so much… all her natural hair color is gone. She has gained so much weight and it looks like she has some major hormonal issues plus maybe so much cortisol. I wonder how she felt seeing her boyfriend for the first time after two years….
The school should be held accountable too. Insisted he leave for the day. They also did not take him seriously
They cannot make a parent take their kids home. They asked her to take a kid to get help.
They called an immediate meeting with parents and encouraged parents to get his son immediately to help.
Lawyers are aloud to object. The defense lawyer clearly shouldnt be a trial lawyer.
Why did she keep looking at the jury and talking directly to them? Doesn’t she know Amber. Heard did that and it was beyond annoying? I’ve been on the jury and it’s absolutely beyond annoying.

So she makes sure that her accts are cleared out. Glad she's got her priorities straight 🙄
She said it was out of the Blue for him to write I love you. Then she was asked did you respond back I love you.... And she said I don't know. I guarantee you that was his last text to his mother to see if she loved him and when she didn't respond back that she loved him, that was it for him....

I hear people say that all the time.
That’s a completely normal statement. My life is in my cell phone, too, and most of my friends would say the same thing.

You know nothing of the stages of trauma
I also don't know why defense attorney didn't take them to the station on 12 3 24 so this would have been a better outcome for trial.
