I’ve never seen a Tennis player serve without bouncing the ball. I’ve never seen a basketball player take free throws without bouncing the ball. They get a feel of it before making an attempt. So why are we bringing on Rashford and Sancho with one minute to go, playing out of position, not acclimatised to their environment?

@@gurpalsingh9000 I’d rather Rashford and Sancho take it when coming in during 90 mins/early extra time. It’s psychotic to bring on two young ballers right before ET, without even kicking the ball, to score pens. When have we ever seen that? Switching keepers for pens like Holland did in 2014 is calm because keepers do their warm ups on the side, but players can’t warm up penalties on the side can they😂. Calvert Lewin, a striker, on the bench too. He double subbed Hendo, who’s captained in high pressure situation but not 19 year old inexperienced Saka?

Why Southgate picked players that “done good in training” is so stupid. Every single professional England player can take a penalty they are pros! It’s picking players who have done it before under pressure and can get over it mentally if they do happen to miss. Personally think rashford was a good choice he’s done it before (against PSG) he strikes a ball very well and tbh his penalty was good he was just unlucky! The question is why sanch and saka? Well that either means Italy possessed the opportunistic quality necessary to make England pay and earn the win or England just was not good enough to make the right tactical decisions and therefore deserved to lose. @@ahelm3008 Let's not play with words here. The bottom line is that there are many ingredients that go into a final winning outcome. If both teams and their managers are perfect we would never see a winner. The final score is not always the only and most pertinent element to determining the quality of a team's play. Italy was on the whole the better team across the board. They made better tactical decisions, less mistakes, had greater ball possession, created more scoring chances and showed, IMO, a greater hunger for victory without the apprehension that was obvious on the English side. And all that in spite of the fact that England was playing on home turf with massive fan support and even scoring an early goal that could have been the soul crushing nail in the coffin for Italy. The Italians showed tremendous resilience and came back in spite of all the adversity. Put that all together and the result tilted in favour of the Italians. Case closed.

You can speculate on all kinds of alternative scenarios ad infinitum since it makes for good debate, but that is only valid if you take into consideration that if England had hypothetically done something different then maybe Italy might have also adjusted to do something different and the result would have been the same. Speculation is fine but for the most part it is IMO just an attempt to lessen the pain of having seen your team lose.

Everyone was saying ‘Gareth masterclass’, they didn’t play attractive football( not saying it’s necessary) but as long as we were winning it was fine. Same as Croatia he is too defensive all the time, we talk about having the best attacking players but every game pretty much apart from the 4-0 we won by 1-0. ( I think 2-0 once) but we barely play attacking football. With the pens Rashford should have scored, just dragged a little but Sakas and Sanchos were poor. They are young and I don’t blame them. We should have won the game in the 90 mins, but hopefully we go again in Qatar.

Although I fully understand the anger and the frustration, some of these man are going on like they know what it’s like to be on a football pitch with all that pressure on you. Yes, players do get paid millions to do their job, but that does not then mean that they cannot get nervous or buckle under the pressure, especially for the younger players likes Saka and Sancho. You cannot dehumanize players based on the fact that they get paid lots of money. They are still human regardless. And that’s the real issue with football fans right now. If you feel you can do better under the pressure, be my guest and get on the pitch. Otherwise just shut up.

I said we should have empathy towards them because they are human and the money they get paid does not eradicate nerves and feeling pressure. Are we now going to make humanity and being paid a lot of money mutually exclusive? Are we now going to say, “oh, he gets paid too much money to feel pressure and nervous?” If they were paid less money, would we then allow them to feel nervous under such situations?? My point is yes, they missed the pens but to have no empathy towards as though we know what it’s like to be in those situations is absolutely outrageous. It’s football man. Things happen. Even Messi and Ronaldo miss important pens. Are we going to steamroll them and call them names as well? Or is that reserved for these guys?

On top of that we should of never sat back, we found their weakness which was the crosses from our wing backs shown by shaws goal. I do respect Italy since their performance was great, just a shame since we have great talent and most definitely could beaten them by a 2 goal margin. Another thing is Sterling and mount should of been replaced, they are great players but made no impact but then again football is a cruel game you win some you lose some, it is how it is. @9k49 Před 2 lety +1

At the 70th minute in addition to Trippier (RWB) for Saka (RW) we should’ve made the following subs:
      Off - Sterling and Mount
On - Rashford (LW), Grealish (CAM)
Then, if still 1-1 after full time, sub off Rice for Henderson (DM) and Kane for Calvert-Lewin (ST).
Then, if still 1-1 after first half of extra time, sub off Saka for Sancho (RW).
Sterling and Kane were physically exhausted after playing 120 minutes against Denmark, Mount is usually a good player but was not having a good final.
Southgate stuck with Kane, Sterling and Mount for too long - sometimes you have to sub off good players if they’re not having a good game.

You’re right that it’s done for now but this isn’t the end for England, hopefully Southgate:
      1. changes to a 4-3-3 formation, which he was starting to do before the tournament
      2. learns that sometimes good players can (and need to) be subbed off
      3. learns that a 1-0 lead is not good enough to defend for ~65-70 minutes, especially against a top team like Italy
If these three lessons are learnt, we have a good chance of doing well at Qatar

A player like Henderson shouldn't be subbed off for someone younger and inexperienced to take the penalty. Southgate dislikes Grealish, Foden and Sancho because they all like to go forward attacking instead of defending, its so obvious why he dislikes them, everyone talking shit about Mason when in reality we all know Southgate told him to just defend all day, when we all know he is normally an attacking midfielder with killer shot.
He is good manager and made all the players for the first time actually be chill with each other regardless of club rivalry like my man Maguire came to say, if only he'd stop being so scared for a second goal though he'd be alright

    • @m.ibtihazislam3027
      @m.ibtihazislam3027 Před 2 lety +1

Sancho not playing as much is a bit confusing and I hope Southgate learns from this and does look to integrate Sancho in to the team here onwards. With Grealish and Foden, it's more of the case that they broke through as proper exciting and potential England prospects this season, but finding the time to integrate was always going to be difficult and never really on the cards. Yes, of course, natural ability does come in to this and you want talented players on the pitch and Grealish and Foden could do that and influence the game, but that comes at the cost of playing with a lack of a lot of chemistry and would end up, potentially detrimenting the team as a whole, so going with Grealish and Foden from the off would be risky.
International football is completely different from club football, which is the flaw in Shaun's argument comparing England to Chelsea. In international football, you only meet a few times a year and that means your tactics have to be a lot simpler than club football and players get a lot less time to build an understanding with their teammates.
With Italy, they gained success from their attacking style with Mezzallas, by building up the chemistry, since 2018, and quickly settling in the youth like with Barella and Chiesa. As a result of playing that system for so long, they were able to gel in an attacking sense and everyone knew their roles and develop a more cohesive and complex tactical plan, which, thus, allowed them to play proper attacking football.
Southgate and England didn't have that time so England could not play that attacking system with Grealish and Foden, although they did make odd appearances, the structure wasn't there to support their presence in the team.

You need that natural unspoken chemistry to really make attacking play work whereas our front are all from different clubs, and other than Sterling and Kane are more recently added

Get real bro.. Italy imposed their will on England from start to finish. England has no choice but to RUN.

@@DarkoRajakovic_ Yh from start to finish, that’s why England scored within the first 3 minutes. Because Italy “IMPOSED THEIR WILL ON ENGLAND FROM START TO FINISH.” makes perfect sense buddy.

@@Gino565 exactly 😂😂 why did England stop attacking after 3 minutes when they were 1-0 up

@@DarkoRajakovic_ 1-0 within 2 minutes isn’t really Italy imposing any will on England. England scored 1 and sat back against the team that perfected that whole tactic of staying back and defend. Southgate has quality attacking players and didn’t use them properly, 1-0 up put on grealish and sancho in and extend that lead into half time. Southgate screwed it up. Should have won that game in 90

Regardless of everyone loving Mason Mount he was no where to be seen during the time he was on! If Grealish and Sterling had help it would’ve come home
