  • The Genestealer Cult is one of the most underrated factions in all of 40k. Most people in the community view them as pretty worthless without their Tyranid masters backing them up. I don't think this is true. I think the GSC is possibly the greatest threat the imperium has ever encountered. Not all wars are physical ones. Lets dive into this spooky and misunderstood faction!
    No Intro in this one. Nurgle has bestowed upon me a thrice blessed cold on the day I would normally record it. so were just jumping in to talking about the gene stealer and his flock!

    It's also worth to be noted that while Genestealers are extremely effective against the Imperium due to the sheer numbers of humans and the general lack of organization they have a significally harder time when it comes to the rest of the factions (even tho it is possible to infect most of them).
    Orks: Usually are able to sense the ones that are infected since they do not act "orky" enough and thuss they kill them very early on. As a result Genestealers can only infect them in smaller numbers (freebooter crews) which kinda defeats the purpuse of the genestealer. At best they can use them to spread to other planets
    Eldar: Due to how fortified the Craftworlds/webway are and since they keep a close tab on the inhabitants, the infected rarely are able to infiltrate much less grow in numbers (the Eldar slow reproduction doesnt help either)
    Tau: They keep close tabs to every citizen withing the Empire and everyone is subjected to mandatory health/bio scans yearly (the leaders even more regularly). Furthermore the kroot have learned to detect the infected by smell and thuss are placed everywhere to sniff them out. Pluss research has been made to halt the progress of the infection.
    Necrons: Straight up immune in every way
    Chaos: One can not worship the hive mind and the chaos gods at the same time

      I found Dawn Of War: Dark Crusade when my uncle took me to go spend my work money as a kid and fell in love with the Orks. Something I read said:
      By far the most dangerous group to the Imperium are the Orks. They don’t care for anything but awful violence. Their “WAAGGHH” is a psychic maelstrom which makes Ork armor, vehicles and weapons work EXACTLY the way they want it to even if they shouldn’t. The paint themselves and their vehicles and weapons red because they BELIEVE their weapons will work faster. So it does. Their equipment shouldn’t work as it has no mechanism to work. But they do. If they believe a hunk of iron can melt the faces of the Chaos legion it will.
      Our only saving grace is their inability to manufacture and work together under one banner. If they could even Necron Tombworlds would be overrun in no time. The Quintilions of Orks could breakthrough the Eldar Webway and the Imperiums Holy Cities. Even the multitudes of Tyranids would be eventually over taken by the Green Wave.

  • @laughingmask3118
    @laughingmask3118 Před 2 lety +13

    I really love the Genestealer Cults and have been saying for a long time that GW needs to license a scifi horror movie that showcases the process of a Genestealer Invasion in all it's horror as the antagonists of the movie.
    Maybe have two narratives where one lone Inquisitorial candidate makes a name for himself by rooting out cults before they get off the ground on multiple worlds and eventually becomes a dedicated Inquisitor of the Ordo Xenos over the course of a few generations, have him do those youth treatments so that by the end of the movie when he's facing the genestealers with his team from the Deathwatch he's old but still kicking.
    Meanwhile at the opening of the movie, a lone purestrain Genestealer stows away on a cargo ship and infects one of the crewman. Then the next time we see him and his crewmates they've arrived at their destination and they decide to settle down there, and we the purestrain scuttle off the ship into the sewers, and we see the crewmen meet some ladies at a bar and get freaky spliced in one scene with the purestrain Genestealer picking off a few isolated citizens to infect them, smash cut to the birth of the crew's children being horrible looking but the couples just adore their children. Then the next time the film focuses on this planet have some of the crewmen much older inviting some friends at their new jobs to come to their place of worship, pitching it vaguely as being part of the Imperial Cult, and how creepy it would be as they actually descend down into the sewer system, maybe the new victims barely seeing something just beyond the light now and then, but rationalizing that as weird as this is there's no way their longtime friend and mentor figure would ever be a heretic, until eventually they get to the chamber where the sermon is being given about the "true gods" and the new victims are corraled together for some sort of baptism, halfway through the sermon the first few generations of infected Genestealer offspring emerge from the shadows to join the worship and the victims realize much too late that something is horribly wrong and they've made a terrible mistake as the original purestrain Genestealer emerges from a vast cavern behind the altar in his immense, horrifying massiveness and the sermon begins talking about the glorious kiss off the angels, fade to black screaming.
    Next time we get to see this planet a new group of victims are working the mines and are dubious of a few of their coworkers who they slowly realize they haven't seen without their gear, always obscure their features, never come with them to the surface on breaks, seem to leave work earlier than them, they get suspicious and start to think maybe it's heresy, one of the guys tries to strike up a conversation more personal than shooting the shit at work and cooperating while mining and the strange coworker is dodgy. Frustrated the miner grabs their coworker by the shoulder and turns them to the light and sees that they're not quite human, eliciting a hiss from the dodgy guy and getting overpowered, knocked down and the suspect fleeing deep into the mines. The miner and his cohorts immediately flag down an Arbites Judge and report the mutant in a panic and the judge calls for backup.
    When backup arrives, they deputize the miners and all go into the tunnels to hunt down the mutants only to eventually be drawn on by the judges and forced to line up when, to their horror, several purestrain Genestealers far more hideous than their mutant coworkers descent from the rock ceiling and they realize these judges are heretics, they're working with the mutants and these Xenos are going to kill them... except they don't. The first miner gets pounced on by a purestrain Genestealer which shoves it's long tongue into his mouth as the rest of the purestrains dogpile on the miners and the scene cuts to black...
    All this shit goes on as the movie swaps between the aging Inquisitor as he rises and then rides along on his glory and then slowly age catches up to him, the youth infusions becoming less and less effective as he discovers he has some sort of condition that prevents them from working after so many all the while watching this slow and horrifying invasion of the original freighter crew's new homeworld until eventually the two storylines combine and the Inquisitor and his retinue investigate the world where the invasion is underway only to slowly realize they are far too late, most of the government and the military there on world have been infiltrated and then the Hive Fleet arrives, and the Cult comes out like insects in a frenzy under an overturned rotting log and the Ordo Xenos retinue make a defiant and heroic last stand as they're overwhelmed by enemies from above and below and in the end as he lay dying the Inquisitor makes a desperate call to his ship that the world is overrun, the ship needs to flee, but first his final orders: Exterminus.
    Incinerate every last bastard Xenos and this whole damned world.
    Sacrificing his life and awaiting Exterminatus the Inquisitor delivers an epic and tragic speech about how it was an honor working with his crew, to get to safety, leave him and his retinue behind and blow this Throne forsaken planet to kingdom come and with tears in their eyes the ship returns to orbit and blasts the whole planet to smithereens, killing the tendril of the hive fleet, the cult, the citizens of the Imperium and the Inquisitor's entire landing party in one massive explosion.
    A funeral service is held on the command deck of the ship and then the crew drink to the Inquisitor's glory, swapping stories of their experiences under his command and showing how much they loved and admired their Inquisitorial superior.
    Eventually the Captain makes his drunken way back to his quarters but gets turned arouyand disoriented but eventually finds his room...
    Only to be attacked by a purestrain Genestealer stowaway before he could open the door.
    Ending the film but starting the cycle anew.
    GIVE US THIS MOVIE, GW, YOU COWARDS!!!

    First off I love your long lore videos, I feel they rival the top channels and you bring an interesting perspective to the lore that not a lot talk about.
    Second, I think that the Gene Stealers are a SUPER underrated threat and have always fascinated me. Who knows if there is more than one cult on Terra, or how many worlds are actually infected? This could be what might bring the emperor from his coma to fight again.

    Subscribed! Absolutely incredible! When other channels simply read the wiki in a montone voice, or at best, paraphrase and adds slightly to the given narrative, you give an absolutely enthralling narrative with great production, excellent voice over, and compelling synthesis of lore, extrapolations based on previous lore examples, and nuance with great care of detail! That combined with a unique personality and approach easily makes this one of my favorite lore channels! Praise the Omnissiah!

    • @QrazyQuarian
      @QrazyQuarian Před rokem +1

      The Reapers as presented in Mass Effect 1, to me, are the scariest in all of fiction.
      Hyperadvanced machines that have existed even before the universe began, and will endure after its eventual heat death. We cannot possibly comprehend their existence, an alien intelligence beyond mortal fathoming. Their reasoning for harvesting us every 50,000 years is beyond our cognitive grasp. Their numbers can darken the sky of every world, and it takes entire legions of mortals to take just one Reaper down. We are but ants fighting a boot, 2-dimensional drawings that can understand why the cartoon fire drawing burns us but can scarcely fathom the real fire that sets our drawn world aflame.
      Compared to the genestealers, who simply serve the masters of those who come, eat, and leave, the Reapers have a far more sophisticated and unfathomly-scarier pretense for existence in our mortal space.

    @TheCrepper98 Před 2 lety +4

    I only started to learn about 40k lore after watching your "Are the Chaos Gods the good guys?" video since I am a Warhammer Fantasy Enthusiast and I saw tons of paralleles. Well I mean it is obvious since they are essentially the same enteties in both univereses. First of all I love this erie and primordial vibe you were able to give off with this video and also made great use of music. It reminded me of this deep rooted fear we all have as humans, the fear of the Unknown and I think that is also why I enjoyed this lore telling so much because it taps into this fear. I think you could even argue that this story or lore bit for lack of a better term could be categorized as cosmological horror. These reasons named here are also the reason why I like the Skaven of Warhammer Fantasy so much though they are more graspable compared to the genestealers as species. On that note I again see some similarties between the Skaven and Genestealers in the fact that they are this hidden threath festering far beneath the cities of mankind and possibly other races waiting for the right moment to srtike to devour the surface world and that all they care for is to devour all that lives. But I don't know how familiar you are with Warhammer Fantasy lore.
