I want a 40k game where you play as a Genestealer and create a cult. Think about it.
You start off with just one genestealer choosing a world to infect. Each faction has it's strengths and vulnerabilities. You infect your first few minions and start spreading. Your ultimate goal is to work your way up the chain of government and military with an almost Shadow of Mordor like system of regional governors/generals and their underlings. You manage your own inferiors, spread the cult and prepare it for when the hive fleet comes.

Genestealer cults are connected by a Broodmind that is broadcast by the patriarch broodlord that first initiated the infection. But that patriarch acts on genetically programmed instinct so far from a Hive Mind synapse network. Which means, no Hive Mind uplink, and if the patriarch gets corrupted by Chaos (e.g. a Nurgle plague) the Broodmind gets corrupted and the entire cult falls to Chaos (or in that case, Nurgle -- e.g. Genestealer Cult Tenebrous).

Not a bad thing, after all The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, has done more to help people and maintain its core principles than the other major religious organizations.
Oddly enough while the Jews were prosecuted time and again in Europe. Members of The Church were wrongly labeled as a cult which allowed entire states to strip members of their constitutional rights and began to systematically try and destroy the organization while it was still young.
To this day the Mormon battalion was the only army unit totally comprised of members because of the hatred toward them. That battalion later founded what would be called Ft. Erwin a massive NTC for brigade-size units.
Now, in my opinion, the Church's greatest accomplishment was two things, one maintaining its principles despite threats from other parties. Two doing more to invent and help improve society than any other group.
One of the Saints that millions know of an entire governments use his inventions and designs every day is John Moses Browning. The inventor of modern firearms and one whose machine gun the M2 browning holds the longest service life of any machine in existence.

I don't believe Yarrick was a Hybrid, but I find it interesting that you mention him.
      Facts:
During Ghazghkull's first invasion, Herman von Strab refused to send out a distress call to the Imperium at large, declaring his confidence that the forces of Armageddon could drive back the Orks.
Offworld forces already on the planet were systematically sidelined (like a certain troublesome Commissar who was exiled to Hades Hive) or sent into fights they were incapable of winning (like the Iron Skulls Titan Legion).
Shortly after the 2nd Armageddon War, Genestealers were discovered in Infernus Hive, a situation which the Blood Angels resolved by nerve-gassing the Infernus underhive.
      Conclusion:
Von Strab's actions *might* be due to simple incompetence... but they would be entirely consistent with the actions of a highly-placed Cult devotee, attempting to systematically undermine Imperial assets outside his own chain of command, and avoid offworld scrutiny.

@@TemplinInstitute I somehow doubt that those vids you mentioned would explain to me how is it, that a lore analysing channel starts a debate on "hot" topic, saying that something may exist in a particular universe despite a lack of any proof, solely because there is no canon and everything is a matter of subjective perception of said universe, and then they forget to add that remark to another video from this universe. So what, it's ok to present something nonexistent as possible, even probable, because there's no canon, but we take something else for granted, despite there's no canon? Shouldn't this "no canon" remark be added to every video presenting the aspects of the universe in question?
Oh wait, then whole magic of every alternative world is gone and the videos aren't even half as entertaining. Could it be, that all of it is done for entertainment (i.e. number of views and monetary value), at the cost of reliability? This channel was always a reliable source of information on alternative worlds, so I wonder what changed. I also doubt the "kids videos" mentioned would answer that.

    • @Agorafobik
      @Agorafobik Pƙed rokem +3

@@TemplinInstitute on a more serious note, and dropping the passive aggressiveness (as well as, I hope, "kids videos" type of answers), I've always considered your channel a solid and reliable source of information presented in an entertaining way, but i saw it as facts and solid info from the other worlds first, entertainiment later. You've made a ton of good videos where you explored different aspects of fictional worlds, not to mention the more "educational" vids like the ones about flags, navy, state names etc. That's why it felt so off to see you getting into a debate about something that's hotly debated and defending your point with "there is no canon, so one can fit whatever one wants into 40k universe" argument. Yes, we can certainly say that there is no canon in this particular universe and everything depends on our individual, subjective perspective, that's undeniably true. But if we apply this logic to one thing in the universe, we must apply it to all of its aspects. That's what's reliability. That's what I've so far seen on your channel. Take your video on the war between the New Republic and the First Order. You've said specifically, that this was an absolutely individual, non canonical, altered version of the story. And it was great and felt natural, mainly because it was stated from the beggining that it's an alternative version of events. Saying that something may exist solely because there is no canon and everything is subjective is just lazy when analysing alternative worlds (mainly because this argument can be used in regard to almost every fictional universe, because almost all of them have some contriving facts and canon conflicts).

Magically empowered cultists brainwashed to act as heralds to an overwhelming force that seeks to end all, including them. Also did you know Genestealer Cults can get tainted by Chaos and converted into Chaos Cults? Now that would make for some truly terrifying organisms...
Also, i dont like Games Workshop's Lore excuse for why only mini's for Human-Born Genestealer Cults exist, as "oh, the other races find them out too easy or whatever" feels like a cheap excuse as to why official xenos-variants of Genestealer Cults arent made..

Exodites would have no way to spot stealers so they should have some, squats I have no clue.

Genestealer cults don't work with any hive fleet barring very specific exceptions (e.g. cults near Hive Fleet Tiamet). Genestealer cults are devoured alongside all the other biomass on a planet once the hive fleets arrive. That's not special though. The vast majority of tyranid warrior-forms get broken back down and recycled into biomass sludge for easier transport following an invasion. Very little actually survives a tyranid invasion.
Once the Hive Mind extends to the cult's system, the Broodmind is subjugated, the cultists are sent into an inhuman killing frenzy, and right before the end when the Broodmind collapses (due to the patriarch being killed or fleeing the system) the cultists get a moment of lucidity before they, too, are consumed. The cult will often send out a handful of members to keep spreading the invasion before the tyranids reach them, though, so usually the cult isn't entirely exterminated. But there is no 'working alongside tyranids'.
