    The first Tyrannic War would be the perfect intro to the WH40k universe for the Amazon show. First few episodes being simple imperial and mechanicum investigations of Tyrum. They really should focus hard on this, how IMPORTANT it is they study this wonderful, beautiful, but dangerous world. For maybe three episodes. . Then the Tyranid Invade and this beautiful world is ruined, turned into a nightmare and ending in bloody fucking death. Then the Inquisition as it deals (badly) with the incident. The corrupt nature of Imperial Worlds and how feudal it is. Along with the limitations of its "magic". And then Finally, at the FINALE, the introduction of the Space Marines in the Siege of Macragge.
    The first season needs to ram home this is not star trek. Despite how desperately humanity wishes it was. The tragedy of 40k is how much it WANTS to be Star Trek. But it just can't. Because the cruel universe won't let it. And it must, by circumstances, rely instead upon the raw violence that comes from humanities will to survive. Rather then explore.

      @jaxxchang-weinberg4684 Před 11 měsíci +40

      I was thinking that the first season shoul be centered around the 4th Tyrannic War (I.E what’s happening right now at the time of this post in the lore). Because what better way to sell the shear grim darkness of 40K than starting off with SEGMENTUM SOL UNDER SIEGE. We haven’t seen Terra in this great a danger since the War of the Beast, and there is even rumors of the Last Wall Protocol being activated to defend the throne world.
      It’s also a great way to introduce the various characters and factions. Such as the Solblades, imperial task forces lead my imperial hero’s of renown like Morvenn Vahl, Kayvaan Shrike, Belisarious Cawl, Arcadian Leontus, and Trajann Valoris. Not to mention the various Xenos faction (particularly the Necrons, Eldar, and Ork) are taking an expressed interest in the war.
      This all makes a good jumping into point because there isn’t too much of a need to have a deeper understanding of the lore. Just know that bugs are after Earth

    • @Vasilefs_Terranorum
      @Vasilefs_Terranorum Před 11 měsíci +48

      To be fair, the Inquisition handled it about as well as we can hope for. If not for Kryptman and his relentless investigation the Imperium may never have been warned until it was too late. The entirety of Ultramar may well have been devoured without the vigilance of the Ordo Xenos.
      But on the whole, I couldn’t agree more about it being an ideal starting point into the franchise.

      I'd love to see Chaplain Cassius as one of the viewpoint characters in such a show. He's faced Genestealers, sixty five years before, on Ghosar Quintus, when a mere handful of them succeeded in bringing down a prosperous Imperial mining world. He knows exactly how subtle and dangerous they can be, how even one of them is capable of tearing a fully-armoured Marine limb from limb in a matter of seconds.
      And thus time? Not only are there tens of thousand of them, but they brought air support.

      @jaxxchang-weinberg4684 Narrows the setting down way too quickly.
      The importance of Terra to the setting is not felt or known so the gravitas of the unrecognizable Earth being under threat would bare little weight.
      40k works best with the older themes and big "center piece" people, locations, and events are barely rumors to 99.9%: The Imperium of Man is a decaying monolith spread too thin across a vast galaxy. Terra is a whispered holy land, home of your god. His Angles are spoken of only in legend and you have only seen them in frescos within cathedral walls. Recognizable names like Yarrick are from far flung worlds and may only be propaganda. All of humanity's greatest heroes are dead, damned, or lost. You toil as your father did, and his father before him, to feed the ever demanding tithe. Then the skies darken with horrors beyond your imagining.
      Win or lose, there is no saving the galaxy; just delaying the death.
      No matter your rank, status, or station of birth; no matter how courageous or cowardly your heart, no matter how hard you rage against the dying of the light: you are just another corpse in a trench while the cold distant stars continue to turn in the heavens.

    I always love that the Necrons hard counter the Tyranids so much in lore that the Nids will go out of their way to avoid them. Necrons do not use The Warp for anything so are immune to the communication and travel interference the Nids create, their weapons never run out of ammo and don't care how much organic armour the Nids evolve and their corpses leave nothing for the Nids to scavenge.
    But it's not that the Necrons are "designed" to beat them, the Necrons precede the Nids in both lore and real world development it's just the logical conclusion of two very different existences, the Necrons simply dont exist within the same rules the Nids exploit.

    • @Khanine1
      @Khanine1 Před 11 měsíci +9

      While I agree that the Necrons are a counter to the Tyranids for all the reason you lay out, I tend to think they’re not a ‘hard counter’. This may just be me arguing semantics and such but I always think that a hard counter would mean there’s no way the Tyranids could possibly win if they went to war with the Necrons, which personally I don’t think is the case.
      What the Necrons really do is reduce the Tyranids to the level of any other species. They make it so that the Tyranids lose resources on any battle, even if they win, which is the same cold calculation every other species needs to make. This can be contrasted with the usual MO of the Tyranids eating their own dead, and their enemy’s dead, to make a net gain from every battle they win.
      If the Tyranids lacked the sheer numbers that they do then this would indeed be a winning strategy for the Necrons, but the number of Tyranids appears to be unfathomably vast, even if we ignore the potential for them to have galaxies of reinforcements. Not to mention that the resources expended on destroying a tomb world (which would likely take whole tendrils), could be reclaimed through consumption of uninhabited feral worlds.
      It’s true that the Tyranids avoid Necrons when they can, and that one to one (or even a thousand to one) the Necrons should win, but I think this is like how Behemoth avoided attacking Tyran until it had built up enough power to face the Imperium. The Tyranids are going to go after the ‘easy’ and resource-rich prey of Man and Orcs etc. first, then deal with the Necrons. Not saying the Tyranids will win, just that it may not be as one-sided as it seems from just looking purely at how effective the Necrons should be.

    • @TheCyanAngel
      @TheCyanAngel Před 11 měsíci +3

      Sure if the nids abandoned their strategic goals they could "win" against a Tomb. That's why I said in lore the Necrons hard counter the Nids. Yes Nids could force Necrons to abandon their Tombs but from their behavior in lore we know they don't take fights that result in a loss of biomass.

    • @TheTeremaster
      @TheTeremaster Před 11 měsíci +12

      @@operationangel7940 Nah it'd never be another Octarius. The Necrons fighting the tyranids is a complete positive for the imperium. It weakens the necrons and even if the tyranids win, they don't gain anything because Necrons have no biomass to harvest. They're quite literally the perfect anti tyranid weapon which is why the hivemind avoids them like the plague.
      The only concern is the silent king awakening his people and dabbing on the tyranids too hard, since then the Imperium has a fully capable Necron empire as an opponent, but since he was already going to awaken his people anyway, it's not a huge problem

      I wonder, though, whether they might actually make mutually beneficial allies. The Hive Mind has to recognize that lacking all technology is a weakness in the end. Perhaps they could offer to try to help engineer a way for the Nekrons to return to the flesh. At the very least, they actually have no overlapping resource requirements so they could work together, with the Nekron getting to carry out their plans while the Tyrannids get to consume the biomass.

      Necrons seem to be the perfect counter to the Tyranids.
      They're not organic. They aren't affected by the warp shadow, because they don't use the warp. They are highly mobile and can use portals to instantaneously move forces from across the galaxy to react to invasions.
      And probably most importantly: Necrons are immun to attrition warfare. You can't starve a tomb world. And Necrons can neither run out of ammunition nor warriors. Everything so far was scouting parties securing a foothold.. if that structure really is a beacon, the *Real* Tyranid force could soon be coming, led by their OWN Astronomicon...
      Or if its a Black Spire, Tyranids might have found a way to harvest biomass from/stop incursion from daemons, (a thorn in their side as they can't normally obtain biomass from them so its always a net loss for the Tyranids to fight them.)

The First Tyranic War was a warning sign of how dangerous and powerful the Tyranids are, and now they are posing a true threat to the Throne World itself and only with the might of guns, steel, and faith can we hope to stop these foul void borne horrors, and perhaps that won’t be enough, Emperor give your flock a sign of your Divine Righteous for we need it now more than ever before.
