In this episode I take a 1985 Ford Escort RS2000, OK it was branded as a Super GT but we all know it as an RS2000, and turn it into a period rally car complete with forest arches, hand built interior and engine bay.

Subscribed and bought some rather excellent rothmans decals for a mk2 escort that’s in the building stage, can’t wait to get them on the model!

I just started becoming a fan of the Escorts. The Fast And Furious model was first. Then Mattel released a Castrol red and another white version. But I can't find any older Matchbox models. Those are my dream castings. The fat tires and suspension. Awesome cars.
They were in abudnace over here in teh UK, sadly not very many you see out and about anymore only the RS and XR models around car show season 🚓🚕🚙🏎😁👍

To be honest Thomas thats why I started doing these videos and Instagraming. I've always found making models a good escape from the real world and decided to show a few and it's grown from there. It's nice to be in your own bubble with like minded folk from time to time😁👍🚗🚓🚕🚙

I still have and remember from my childhood in the 80's the Super GT matchboxes. They all have in common the plastic base, non opening doors and black windows. It's not just escorts but other sports cars as well. When new they weren't in the typical paper box but inside a blister just like hotwheels today. Now I play with real Escorts instead.

@@SidewaysKing75 Thanks and I should have said that I love your builds. I would say that the Super GT series were made on budget reusing the existing moulds of a decade old models. I remember that the spring plate on my first Super GT lasted about an hour before it had collapsed just like yours in the video.

Wow , im so glad you did this video . It's brought back so many happy childhood memories as i too had the white matchbox RS2000 and pretended to 'rally' mine on the carpet or copy the rallycross action on Grandstand on a Saturday afternoon and i pretended to be Ray Doyle in his white RS2000 from the Professionals . Great days . I still have my RS in my loft although sadly not in its original box . Excellent work on modifying my favourite matchbox car . Great job mate 😃👍

I think I have a rs2000 matchbox as it as my favourite car and I had 3. I used to build Tamaya kits as a kid and my mate back in the state had a scalextrix set. We were both Willams fans so I modded his old Mclaren to have down draft as per the cars at the time. I wasn't an aero dynamist as I was only 15 years old but I picked up enough info from the tamaya catalogues to understand the concept. The only thing I goofed on was painting the Arabic part. I had it right on one side but reversed it on the other. My mate's mum pointed that out to me. Doh!

Lovely job. Ford did actually make a Mk2 RS2000 with a flat nose. Of course it's a lot rarer than the droopsnoot version
