We have gathered salaries from different companies all over the world. In this video we are focusing on the European market. How much a pilot makes in Europe? We have companies like Easyjet, British Airways, Ryanair, SAS, DHL, LoganAir, Netjets to name a few. We have calculated all the salaries into average pilot salaries in each category. You should have mentioned that the license cost up to 120000 euro till you have 1500 hours, and those figures before taxes, so basically in Europe deduct 40/50%

    • @AskAPilot
      @AskAPilot  Před 3 lety +4

      Hi 👋 With 1500 hours you must be referring to US as in Europe a pilot can be hired straight after school with about the 200 hours. In this case we are referring pilots with less than 1500 hours as second officer that is used here in Europe and the average sallary is about 3000€ a month before taxes. How much tax you pay depends on in what country you live in or what country the aircraft is registered/where is the head quarter. For example you pay less tax in the UK than you would pay in Denmark. All of this actually has been mentioned in the other video before this where we explained what you should take into consideration when comparing salaries and what you take home might vary. We hope this gave you some clarity but of course we are happy to explain further how the pay system works over here in Europe. 😊 Happy landings!

      @@AskAPilot Yes please , i dont understand what does it mean pay per Diem , is it different than basic salary?

    • @AskAPilot
      @AskAPilot  Před 3 lety +2

      @@AdhamNafea Yes, per Diem is different than a basic salary. Per Diem is to cover your expenses when you're out of your base. In some airlines this is money that is paid hourly like 4-5€ or in some countries it is a daily allowance of 50€. Some countries per Diem is tax free and in others it is not. Some countries per Diem is determined by what country you're flying to but others have daily or hourly allowance that always stays the same. We can of course make video about it and explain it more thorough if you would like?
      But in general this is extra that is paid on top of your basic pay.

    Salaries in Europe are crap, you gotta be rich or stupid to go through all the hurdle and difficulties to earn 50k after 4 or 5 years as FO and then be happy to take 80k a year as a Captain. The only place where been a pilot could be at least reasonable would be in the US. There is not unity among EU pilots, there is not solid unions and most of the people in the business are wanna be mavericks so there is no way anyone will push a change. So s... salaries are in EU to stay .

    • @AskAPilot
      @AskAPilot  Před rokem

      It is very true that the EU market is very though for the pilots as there's surplus of pilots. US is suffering from not having enough pilots as a lot of pilots retired and also the 1500hour rule delays the younger pilots entering the job market. If you're ready to move to Qatar/ The United Arab Emirates for example, they have been very well know for higher salaries through out the years.

    Is European airlines hire Indians pilots?

    • @AskAPilot
      @AskAPilot  Před 3 lety

      Hi! A specific nationality rarely is a requirement as it is discrimination and in Europe there's quite hard discrimination laws. What you should take into consideration is that you have to have the right to live and work in Europe. This usually requires you to get a visa. Also, it's good to know that when you're flying for European airline that you need EASA licence and EASA medical for you to be able to work for European airline.

    • @AskAPilot
      @AskAPilot  Před 3 lety +1

      He he he - it is a legacy company. It is really hard to compare the packages due to differences in benefits, pensions, local tax law etc. Companies like Airfrance/ KLM, Lufthansa and BA - have always been well known for paying a lot and they will probably remain the companies in Europe that offer the most in terms of money. For new joiners the package may differ. This means that a new joiner may not ever be able to get the same salary as someone already working in the company. When times are hard, like now, being in a major airline may offer some kind of protecting (seniority system) and that is probably what is worth the most at the moment.
