Thanks! I didn't know they couldn't go in the sun at first, put in shade, got it. Good to know not to bury the root deeper than the root area and not cover much of the flesh (another youtuber said to put it 3" down in soil, YIKES!). I wouldn't have known, so I watched your video. Your dragon fruit look so healthy and happy!

I follow the exact same steps as above. Having said that, when I've bought commercially grown, potted up, plants at garden centers I have pulled them apart (in the interests of scientific discovery) and seen that they do, indeed, place them a few inches into the soil. So, there seems to be more to the story, but I'm not sure what it is. Having said that, I'll keep following the technique in this video as it is logical and works for me.

Just planted almost a dozen cuttings following your advice. Fingers crossed I get some growth. In California but not close to ocean so extremely hot these days. I used cuttings from a plant that I’ve had for awhile but I had no clue about all of the rules to grow and get flowers. Thank you for your videos.

I cut back to the main cambian layer and used rooting hormone right away and had very large root bunch result. My scabbed cuttings took a bit longer and had roots only out bottom rim of inner cambian layer. Great vids! I think rot is mostly in the outer leaf flesh surrounding inner tube.

Thank you for this content. I was given a dragon fruit plant that needs serious rehabilitation. It is scarred and yellowing and was tied to a stick for so long the tie cut into the branch a bit. After seeing this video I think I will take some healthy pieces off this unhealthy looking plant and try to root them just in case the plant itself dies. I find that sometimes taking care of a dying plant seems to hasten it's death. Maybe I can still salvage a cutting or two.
