CHANGE THE ICON BRO
It was my pleasure! Thanks for having me. Always a good time with you and your crew 👊🏼
My dragonfruit journey began during the pandemic. We bought a colombiana fruit from a local farmer and was absolutely blown away by how sweet it was. I saved some seeds and germinated some in some water. Ended up with about 100 seedlings😂🤦🏽♂️ I grew stuff but not to the level that I am now. From veggies, to dragonfruit, to fruit trees, to kratky hydroponics, etc. Any old food safe container has a plant in it😂 My wife thinks I’m nuts. But she doesn’t complain when she take a scoop of a juicy sweet dragonfruit right from the yard. Or veggies. The taste difference is just ridiculous. Not even close. Nowadays, I am just addicted to gardening. My friends and family miss me😂
Tool Care:
If you have tools with rust, the best and easies way to restore them is dip them in white vinegar for an hour or so depending on how much rust it has depends on how long to dipped them then use a wire brush to remove the rust
Thank you guys for charing your knowledge
AWESOME! As you know, almost every video labelled "complete growing guide" on youtube just shows you how to plant something (usually seeds). Planting stuff is the easy part. I want to know how to take care of it afterwards! Your videos are so good at showing that. You know.... the important part! Thanks!
Very good video. I love dragon fruit. Thanks for the video.
#paradiseagro
My wife was mentioning that she wanted to try growing dragon fruit this morning - Perfect timing!!
Also, we converted our front yard into a big edible garden after finding your channel over the pandemic. Thanks so much for all the info and inspiration!!
Rich may be the dragonfruit god, but Kevin is the dragonfruit daddy.
Eric. I dont know who kevin is
I'm really glad you threw everything into one video!
I've got an unknown variety of dragonfruit that a neighbor had set out on the curb with a "Free" sign on it. I nursed it back to health and now it's gone crazy with side shoots (although it's starting to grow out thru the top of the trellis). Guess I know what I'll be pruning tomorrow!
Thanks
I’ve been following Richard’s channel for years. He has a wealth of dragon fruit knowledge. Also his FB has a ton of other expert growers who are happy to help newbies.
I m also big fan of Richard ❤❤. I ve #SiamRed a hybrid C variety

My wife's friend passed on a puny little dragonfruit start for me several years ago. That thing did nothing until I transplanted it into a bigger pot with fresh soil and really took off. I moved it inside to protect it during the cooler months, watching it develop. Then one of the cats ate it. I tried finding a new plant, but nobody in the area sold one, not even the "exotic" plant guy. I have some dried seeds, so I'll try again that way.
If you were anywhere near NC I would give you a ton of babies.
I have heard that the stems of those grafted cacti (green stem with brightly colored top) are actually dragonfruit. They CZcamsr I watched bought some at the dollar store, pulled the top graft off, and grew the stem into a blooming dragonfruit.
Wait your CAT?!
Grow from side branches. It's easy don't overwater
I went from 0 to 69 Dragons Varieties in my 1st yr gardening, Becarful watching this Video 😅
69 fruits harvested, or 69 varieties grown?
@@Painted_Owl 69 different Dragon fruit Varieties 😅
The new icon is so bad... the old had so much more of a soul behind it
I think at least keeping the beet red and having the bottom half brown for soil would be perfect in terms of logo simplicity and character
Agreed
I think Eric is behind this..
Man i hate to agree but i do. I do agree
Lol forreal! It looked like a cartoon face from a distance when the logo is small. It wasn’t until i went on the home page of the channel I realized the “eyes” are the “e” and “g” 😅.
I love growing dragon fruits! I’m in Central Texas, and I’m slowly taking my plants out of their winter greenhouse. I’m making new trellises, too!
The dragon fruit bug is real! I have epiphyllums, Harrisias, and other night-blooming cereuses! 😁🌵
❤ this video, my aunt gave me a dragon fruit tree last year… now I know how to help it grow to the next level.
One thing that has worked for me when rooting dragonfruit cutting is I’ll take a cutting and then just put it off to the side where it can be cool, dry and away from the sun. Eventually it’ll sprout some root initials and I’ll plant it
Great video! Very comprehensive. I also love the aesthetics of the arch introducing the path of dragon fruit columns. Well done!!
Dude. 3 in one is my favorite tool lubricant. Absolutely the best.
You guys did me in! Here in NC and I decided 'why not try dragonfruit'? So I took one from the grocery store, washed off the pulp the best I could and put it in a couple of small, flat trays. I now have several hundred 'babies'. The sad part, I'm excited about it! Some of them are starting to push out a stem between the 2 baby leaves.
This is probably the coolest plant I have ever watched a guide on! There goes ANOTHER thing on my future greenhouse grow list (by future I mean in 10 years when I have money 🙃)
I've started a couple of dragonfruit plants last oct. The main one already has two offshoots and feeding it mainly some water mixed with hydroponic nutrients (seems to work quite well). Always inspiring seeing these videos
Currently watching this without any intention of growing a dragonfruit in the pacific northwest. I wish I could
Right? Lol
Hello fellow pnwester, same I really wanna grow some but worried it's too cold for it 😔
@@nikkimcelroy3776 Grow in greenhouse, toss in garage during winter?
I recently subscribed to Richard’s channel, & congratulations Richard on your New Family, my Beloved is still overseas 🇵🇭 📍🦘✨🙏🏼🥲
Total respect for all of you that baby these like you do.
Amazing video, guys ! Thnx
Bought my first red flesh dragon fruit a few days ago and this was SUPER helpful THANK YOU 🙏🏼
Thank you, Kevin. 😊
Great timing I have two dragon fruit plants growing right now and this is very helpful. It’s colder where I live so I started the cuttings inside. It’s an experiment for me. I am growing them in a pot and growing it up a trellis. I didn’t grow it on a free standing trellis like yours because I am hoping the warmth of the wall will help it a little
I see wild berry skittles, that's a really good creation from Richard
I have 18 dragon fruit in my indoor grow because of you!!! Mine are not looking quite like yours and since it's also where I start spring seeds it's tight quarters in there at the moment but once it's all done I'm going to build a rack to help trellis them. I'm letting them grow at the edge of a grow area so they'll only get light from one side but it is strong.. due to the light I can't do the method your doing so I'm picturing like a really long ladder and planting them in a row and sending them up and to flop forward...
Thank you from San Diego!
Thank you very much, the content is sufficient
Great video, thank you.
Please can you provide more information on fertilizer quantity and type for Dragon Fruit cuttings that have rooted and have reached 2 feet in height?
You two are amazing ❤❤❤❤❤
3 in 1 is OG af 🤙
Continue to show more on growing fruits and vegetables, please my first time planting anything indoors or outdoors. Thanks 😊😊😊😊
Don’t worry, Epic Gardening already has years of content for ya. Happy planting.
Thanks for the tips. Hope to get my dragon fruit fruiting more.
That was fantastic.
I grew some dragonfruit from seeds from store bought fruit. It's going slow and a lot of the seedlings were lost along the way. Year 3 and my biggest is about a ft tall but I don't get enough sun throughout the day for faster growth.
One of your first videos I watched was about dragon fruit back at your previous house. You sold me on loquats as a hedge, keep talking and I will end up with dragon fruit on our Destin Florida garden zone 9b! 🎉😍
Making loquat mead right now from local trees I found at abandoned houses in Pasco County.
@@BaltimoresBerzerker WHAAAAAAT? * mind blown * Mead? I've gotta do research. I HAVE to know more!!
@bowtielife it's easy and fun! Have a blast dude!
Nice to have Richard back
Thanks so much for the video, appreciated
Very informative video, thank you.
Your going to love Connie Mayer it has a Beautiful pink Flower and it has some flavors of Coconut, white flesh inside but sooo sweet
I was JUST dreading having to repot my severely neglected dragonfruit now that I've moved to a new place with a lot more sunlight.
The timing on this video is perfect. I just got 2 dragon fruit cuttings, and was binge watching your dragon fruit playlist before they arrived.
Excellent video Team
All the best guys ❤ from Assam
❤ what a gold mine of information!
thank you both!
I have a fruit growing but NO ITEM what variety it is... a friend sent it to me???
Thank you for update 😊
Great info, thank you ,Texas9b 💚
Thank you 😊
Awesome video. Learned a lot from you guys. What fertilizer to use to prevent the buds from turning yellow and fall off? Mahalo! 🤙🏾
My BIGGEST dragon fruit question, that I've yet to find a satisfactory answer for: Are the arms edible, like the pads on a nopale cactus?
Great guide. Thought I would comment on tipping plants.Apical dominance is the term. The growing shoot inhibits the growth of laterals. The further from the tip, the more likely laterals are to sprout. Think of a pine tree. It has very high apical dominance. As the growing tip moves upwards, it allows the lateral branches to extend producing a very uniform pyramid shape. Removal of the tip will remove the apical dominance allowing laterals to sprout. :)
And now I want to grow dragon fruit
Great video! After planting unrooted cuttings should you wait until they are rooted before using nitrogen high fertilizer or do you start fertilizing right away? How often should you water unrooted cuttings? Love your and Richard's videos!
My Mom in Clairemont has a huge dragon fruit crawling up a dead maple tree...is has fruit that chandeliers off the tree...she does literally nothing and the thing grows like a weed and drops fruit like crazy
Protect that maple tree at all costs, the dragon fruit plant probably can only sustain that much production because of the tree being the ultimate trellis lmao
excellent video as always!!!!!! I just ordered my first batch of seeds from your seed company and can't wait to grow them. I want dragon fruit bad tho not sure where i can get cuttings and not be scammed. I live in Maine so no one has them. any recommendations on the best web site to order them?
So now I want to grow dragon fruit! I have an affinity for indoor tropical and cacti. This just seems like the right next step! I live in Ontario canada 6b. Are there any special considerations for indoor over wintering and shorter outdoor season that you and Richard can suggest?
Thanks for sharing
what tool sharpening tool do you recommend??
Yo Kev! Lemme get one of the Sour Patch cuttings. Just got my first dragon fruit. American Beauty. Can't wait to start my dragon fruit journey and see where it takes me.
Kevin you are an plus in gardening. A question I live near Palm Springs. My dragon fruit did nothing for 3 years. Is it because of the heat that reaches 115 to sometimes 120. Often 115 ?
What fertilizer for dragon fruits please? Or top soil only
Thank you so much
Do
I live in Cabo San Lucas, MX. How do they fair during tropical storm periods? Which late August to late September? Also I have a irrigation system how much water do they need per day?
Imagine cross pollinating dragon fruit and soursop fruit 🥰 I'd love to see that!
BRING BACK THE OLD ICON
Can you grow it in a pot and bring indoors in cold climates? We don't have a long growing season in Canada.
Do you always prune off growth on the main stem between ground and top of trellis? I have mine planted in the ground and the are always sending off side shoots, I try and angle them up.
Is there a way to workout what type of Dragon Fruit plant you have? Are the flowers different?
What winter low temperatures affect the plant and what can be done to protect it?
what is decent make and model of large black plastic pot for dragon fruit indoors? Having a hard time finding anything >15gal where I live. I am reluctant to buy just anything off Amazon due to low quality.
I’ve been waiting for another dragonfruit video. I started a couple of years ago when a friend gave me a few cuttings. I saw it as amble opportunity to test how badly I could abuse the poor thing till it died… which it hasn’t, so figuring out what to do next has had me sitting over here like Plankton from SpongeBob when he pops out of that fake dollar bill: “I dunno… I never thought I’d get this far”.
Now it’s time for me to do this for-realzies, but I actually have no idea where to buy cuttings.
Cacti are so easy to propagate. I grow grow various types of prickly pear cactus. Some are extremely thorny, some are nearly thornless. Some have the typical round pads, some have elongated pads with scalloped edges. All have edible fruit. With the prickly pear cactus, the pads are also eaten. In Mexican cuisine, they are called nopales or nopalitos.
Edit: To propagate prickly pear cactus I break off a young pad near the top of the plant, then simply poke the broken off end into a pot of moist soil. The kind of soil doesn't matter. You do need to make sure the pot drains properly. After that, the cactus plant is almost zero maintenance. You can keep it in a pot or you can transplant it in the ground.
I have this really cool dragon fruit planter from Vego Garden.
I do LOVE DF. I watch ever video I can on it. I'm in my third year growing and no fruit yet. many of my branches are about half way back down to the planter. I keep the branches sparse... and I just cant get any fruits... maybe it's too thin...
Is a 16-16-16 fertilizer any good
How big is your metal container? Where can I find it? Thanks
Giving me Gandalf vibes with your staff hehehe
Where did you find that adorable Birdie's tree "pot"? I'd love to have something like that for my citrus trees and berries that I want to build up out of the ground away from gophers to start.
Never saw actual fruit in your videos, I will be able to trust your videos more if I see your produce when it's on the plant, can you share a link if you posted earlier? Would these survive in Austin, Texas?
Do you sell dragon fruit clippings? You got me interested.
Could these be grown in colder climates? Bring indoors ? 😊
Have you ever tried growing mushrooms? Would love to see a video on growing mushrooms at home.

Actually if you search his channel, he did do at least one Shiitaki video a few years back.
@@EnuffsEnuff318 Just searched it up. Thank you. He also covered mycelium and fungi a tiny bit in "What happens when you bury old logs...". I wonder if it'd be worth growing mushrooms along side other crops to help the soil, given that they're symbiotic.
Is that small square birdie bed for sale? Or did you make it from left over pieces?
Kevin is soo cute 😍
I planted mine late winter after everything started heating up so far it’s the middle of April and no progress seemingly? I planted them with roots from water and I don’t see any buds or anything been more than two months already and they’re just chilling basically idk if this is normal.
Fingers crossed for fruit this year😂
I grow mine in my mesquite trees in hidaldo county heat and sun in zone 9b of south Texas, wes
Is it possible to grow these indoors? I live in a climate where it wouldn't be possible to grow it outdoors, even in a greenhouse. Not enough sunlight in the winter to keep it warm
Where can we get dragonfruit cuttings to try for beginners?
Eric has a new friend!
Are you selling some of those cuttings? I would love to purchase some.🙏🙏🙏
Hey guys what is the perfect weather for dragon fruit can you let me know please
Hey bro! A friend of mine just gave me a dragon fruit plant in a pot. What I need to do next??????
Wish I had this info years ago! At least three years with no fruit yet.
Lease make a video to help us who live in cities. We have 4 large windows and outside space on them for plants. But we tried one year and pigeons ate it, some windows had full sun and tomato flowers dried before flowering and even had rats climbing the cables eating out tomatoes. We live in sunny Spain now but in the middle of Valencia and miss our garden. Or just do the flowers. Thanks.
Thanks.
could white vinegar be used as a fungicide?
Suggestions on good source of cuttings in California?
