A telltale sign of a narc is their propensity to compete with others. I missed this early red flag 🚩 in my recent narc debacle. Our first couple of dates included axe-throwing and rock-climbing, neither of which I’d ever done before. He told me that he wanted to “win”. I told him that I don’t compete with men. It struck me as very odd bc I just wanted to have fun & get to know each other. He wanted to win against me😳. Run 🏃🏾♀️ if you see that sign.
Tooo true. Very competitive and the coverts act like they are not but it’s all passive aggressive competition and they will sabotage and cheat to win. The one I was with cheated at family games then got really mad when my sister cheated in a joking way. Ultra competitive. Super creepy weirdos
I think it's very common that Narcs end up with other Narcs. After they run through the decent people, they are usually left with the bottom of the barrel with no-one else to go to. If you see a long term relationship "working out" with a Narc later in their lives, I can guarantee their partner is Narc as well. They gravitate toward each other!
A lot of Narcs are status envy, materialistic, and superficial so yes Narcs with Narcs is a thing. And yeah it’s typically covert and overt or two coverts.
The craziest, most psycho narc I ever worked with also had the highest security clearance of anyone I knew. Absolutely terrifying. They need to seriously consider whether the person is a narc and test for it!!

Good insights I think re: overt and covert narcissists. I suspect the overt would likely demand/expect to be the dominant partner while the covert must be a willing subordinate. Provided that agreement can last the relationship may be quite stable as both partners receive whatever reassurances they seek from each other. Otherwise, the relationship is likely too unstable to last as competing competitive drives tank the relationship.
They'll stay with anyone who validates their depraved behaviors. Fun is probably number 1 to them, but accepting all their sick behaviors is a close 2nd. It doesn't have to be a co-dependent to do that. Other narcs do it too because they will have their own sick tendencies they need to validate. There is usually a depraved addiction there. The other dual narc relationship is an authority figure (possibly in public) like law enforcement (just for example) who is a real bully, and his wife is more domineering than he is. Turning him into the submissive one at home....like a baby. He can't stand up to her so he'll take it out on the public....mommy issues. Those narc relationships exist too but the mutual addict one is more common.
