    Brock's football IQ is really what makes him so impressive. He can make decisions very quickly, move well, and isn't afraid to throw the ball away when something's not there. Yep. When you saw him in last year's pre-season games everyone saw the poise in the pocket, the calm, the great play. It was clearly noticeable and obvious. And when they cut Nate Sudfeld, who was a very decent QB2 behind Jimmy for years before getting Trey Lance, and who knew the playbook well, to make room for this Brock Purdy kid - that was no small move. Nate was part of the 49er family and I'm sure not an easy decision. But the coaches saw what we all saw. We had to make room for this kid on the team. But even then we didn't expect this high of a performance. We still haven't really seen this guy's ceiling yet.

    The reason everyone missed, including fans, is that we all forgot what made the greats great. Brady wasn't the most athletic, or Montana, or Manning but everyone started thinking that the QB with the most atheltic ability ("upside") was a guaranteed hit. The reality is that the QB with tjhe most cerebral talent is nearly always a hit. Brady, Montana, Manning are examples of that and so is Brock Purdy. What makes him great is that he can read and diagnose a defense better than anyone. Thius should be a lesson for every scout in the league. Look for the smart guy not the guy with a big arm, 6'4, fast, and strong because the guys that rely on their physical abilities to overcome never tend to work out (Trey Lance)

    AND (this will blow your mind further) not only is he even better this year than his phenomenal performance last year, but he hardly had any practice time in the off season/training camp/pre-season due to his elbow surgery and recovery!! So he got his enormous improvement just from watching film and studying plays - gaining mostly from MENTAL practice and discipline. He's not only throwing more consistently accurately this year, but his hold-your-breath near INT's are much less frequent, he's making reads and decisions significantly faster, and he's feeling the pocket and moving around in the pocket more smoothly - not as frantically. The team and all those big weapons are gelling more, and Brock is keeping up not just managing it, but really unleashing and unlocking its potential - helping his top performers perform.
    As far as MVP goes, well, the very definition of the term should guarantee he wins: Most VALUABLE Player. Look at the VALUE!! At $840,000 a year, compare that to Dak's $40M or Pat's $55M or AR12 or Daniel Jones or any of all the other obscenely overpaid and underperforming QB's in the league. Brock is BY FAR, and clearly on an island by himself, as the best VALUE in the NFL, especially as he leverages the performance and value of all his star skill position players on his team. He's CLEARLY the Most VALUABLE Player in the league - by performance, by dollar value, by ANY metric.

    Brock reminds me of an early Tom Brady. He is poised, smart, makes very accurate throws and can make decisions quickly. He may grow into the image of Tom. Brock is so much fun to watch and is the only team I enjoy watching in the NFL. There are too many really bad teams in the league that are boring to watch.

    If you watched the niners every year like us niner fans, then it's painfully obvious how much better purdy is than any other QB we have ever had with Kyle Shannahan. It's not even close. and it was pretty evident in his first start when he was able to blow out the miami dolphins last year, the hottest team at the time, coming off the bench. As a niner's fan, I'm so happy we found our quarterback. The missing piece kyle has been looking for to finally elevate the offense. Every other QB just executed the offense with mediocre success. Jimmy G is proof that you can be good in shanny offense but he was barely averaging 20 points a game. Purdy is over 30 points per game. It's a big difference.

    • @eric7441
      @eric7441 Před 7 měsíci

      Technically that game against Miami wasn’t his first start. Jimmy got injured in the first quarter when Purdy came in. That game doesn’t count officially on Purdy’s record but it should.

    Team sport: coach designs the plays/pick the right time to select, a defense mistake, Kittle has to run across field, Brock avoids defense to buy time, and delivers at the good perfect moment. That is why a great QB is so hard to find. Very tough sport to score, have to have all right elements from both teams to score a touch down.

    • @evilducks3710
      @evilducks3710 Před 7 měsíci

      @@Humanbodymentorshipacademy Jimmy had at least 1 bonehead throw a game that goes right to the other team. After his knee injury couldn't scramble and when he did try to scramble he inevitably made even worse decisions. Jimmy is what every Brock doubter thinks Brock is. Dink and dunk, rely on the run game. Brock slings that thing, I'd bet Brock averages 10 yards more than Jimmy per throw, and it's not just YAC, he throws it downfield regularly.
      Brock is a top 10 QB in this league, and he'd be good even on bad teams. He wouldn't be this, but he'd be better than people think. It's not like Iowa State was a power house, but he made them good when he was there, and the second he left, they suck again.

    The comparisons to the 80's Montana teams are legitimate.. Both had incredible coaching and schemes... both have/had standout defensive and offensive players and both have/had QB's who are cool, calm, poised under pressure ...who know the system and don't make mistakes... If Purdy can win SB's too... then this team is a reincarnation of the greats 80's teams.. Let's remember where Rice was picked in that draft ... or Brady for that matter ... The sky's the limit for this dude ... I want him to succeed

      Bill Walsh said Rodgers wasn't coachable and was full of himself. He needed work. Gruden passed on him for the same reason. People forget the Packers tried to move him going into the 07 season and no one wanted him. The 3 years he sat were the best things to happen to him. Look what we did to Smith. Whit all those injuries I'm suprised he lasted a long as he did.
      I wonder how many later round qbs have been drafted since Brandy that just never got a chance who were just good. If Purdy got picked up by the viking do you think we would all be talking about how great he is? Nobody knew how great Brady was gonna be. The way I see it is the 9ers have their guy and for now that's all that matters.
