- The San Francisco 49ers dominated the Dallas Cowboys 42-10, thanks to Brock Purdy's four-touchdown performance. However, Dak Prescott was the opposite, finishing with 153 yards, a touchdown and three interceptions. Colin Cowherd demands fans stop the arguments of Dak being the better QB by citing why Purdy has shown the huge gap between both teams. The Denver Broncos came up short against former Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett with a 31-21 loss to the New York Jets. Russell Wilson finished with 196 yards, two touchdowns, a fumble and was sacked four times. This raises the question of what is the root problem in Denver. Colin explains why Russ is not the problem or the team's solution.

Cowboys fan here -- I agree the 49ers have a great system and team, but people have to stop acting like Purdy only looks good because of that. Just based on the eye-test, his poise, throws, and decision-making is super sharp.

To add to that, how many other QBs played within the same system and didn't have the same success? He is a beast. The kid has a moxie in the pocket I never seen, it's nuts. BTW, not a 49ers fan.
Agree 100. System helps but the dude has to be able to play. Trey had the same team with the same players and stank. Purdy comes in and lights it up.

Your comment is what used to make sports enjoyable. Thanks. As and Eagles fan I've sat next to Cowboy fans in bars. We could talk about Dak analytically. Strengths and weaknesses, unknowns. We more or less agreed. Pretty good, greatness yet to be determined. Since then, Dak seems to have regressed. Not sure why. Purdy seems to really good. In fact, he looks way less confused at this point in the season than Hurts. Not sure why. But again, yet to be determined. Same with Herbert and Lawrence.

I'm impressed with how badly Sean Payton read the Broncos situation, after sitting back and watching it for all of last year. He was wrong about Hackett. He was wrong about Russ. He was wrong about what he could do with this team. He's been a poor coach, as the team has regressed underneath him. Maybe he is just like Belichick. Maybe he's just an OC who had a Hall of Fame QB carrying him?
As a Saints fan myself, we tried telling y'all. Could easily have 2 Superbowls if Sean didn't constantly shoot us in the foot with his arrogance & ego. We love him for the 1 Superbowl win he got us, we'll never take that away and he'll always be celebrated in NOLA but that halftime onside kick really inflated his ego.

That relationship lasted only because of beees. Also that no call pass interference against the rams was his fault he should have ran the ball ate the clock kick the fg on to the SB. Payton is a special kind of fool. He got us a SB but truly should have gotten 2 or 3. Brees had probably the most disappointing end to his career imo. Purdy's problem (peoples perception of him) is that highlights don't really tell the story because everything he does looks easy. Then you actually watch the game and it is like "holy s***, this kid makes everything look easy." He is, thus far at least, one of the best QBs in all of football.

There’s no way to know if he’s a star given his current circumstances. It’s not a knock on the guy. You can only play in the position you’re in and do the things you’re asked to do to the best of your abilities and he’s doing that. As for whether he’s a star or not, there’s just no way to know.

Brock Purdy is looking like Joe Montana 2.0. The younger kids are saying he's a baby TB12. But I'm old enough to remember watching Joe Montana play. And Purdy really does remind me of him. So there it is. We now need to see Purdy do a few simple things.
1) Stay healthy.
2) Stay with Shanahan for 12+ years.
3) Win at least Two Superbowls.
I'm betting the kid can do all of that. And I wouldn't be surprised if he played for 15+ years and won more than two Superbowls, with Shanahan. Easy for me to say? Yes, it is. But every once in a while this kind of QB just rises to the occasion. And it feels the same when it happens. And this kid is already being compared to the Greats .... by the Greats. 🏈💪🏼🤷🏻♂️
As an ISU fan this tickles my heart. We love(d) him in Iowa. Went to the TCU game this past week and there was dozens of Purdy-niner shirts in the crowd. He was legit from day one at ISU and I believe broke every QB record we had. Keep slingin the rock son!
Niner's missed out on brady back in the day who was and still is a niners fan. Then they missed out on him again when he parted ways with the patriots. the 49ers - Eagles rematch in the NFC Champ game is going to be an absolute battle. Can't wait to watch it. I think 49ers have the edge this year, but that Eagles D-line may be a real problem by that time of the year. Chiefs - 49ers title game again will be awesome, as will a Bills/Dolphins - Eagles/49ers matchup.
The dline will be a non factor. Just like this game we used the cowboys pass rush against them

It seems when you ask someone who are the top qbs this year, people want to bring up careers instead of what people are doing this year.
I understand your point, but careers do factor in somewhat to the equation, theres a fine line. So far theres only been a couple of games, not nearly enough sample size to make statements that hold any weight yet

@@deangeloj4349 Career does not factor in when we speak of this years best. People have been dismissing Baker since he joined the league, but he is playing well in Tampa Bay. People been praising Mahomes and Allen for a couple years now and they both look inconsistent this year. Dak is still being called a top 5 QB and we see what he is. Purdy had to go up against that Dallas D and since he destroyed it, instead of giving him credit this year, people are questioning Dallas D now. As great as they are. Thee MVP is not a lifetime achievement award. It is who is playing the best this year. So far, I am seeing Purdy run this offense like no other QB before him has and it is not just hand the ball off and move away. Tops in most categories a QB can have. Can't bring up 2 years ago because he was not in the league. Can't bring up last year because he didn't qualify for any awards since he started playing late. This year, tops.
@@SteliosKantos it actually does factor in because of what I said: insufficient sample size. You cant take 5 games and say baker mayfield is suddenly a top 5 qb, which is literal insanity. Rankings for the season utilizing data from JUST this season has to be done after like 14 games, or preferrably at the END of the season, when the sample size is complete. When you take data from only a couple of weeks of play it NEEDS to be complemented with the data from the PREVIOUS season so the sample size is big enough and the data actually has context and makes sense. Data without a sufficient sample size is as good as nothing
It feels as if some people are still waiting for Brock Purdy to have a “Nathan Peterman” moment where he throw four interceptions in the first half, but it’s safe to say that’s not coming. They want to say “look! This is why he was the last pick in the draft, he’s overhyped!” I swear if he was 6’4, 225pounds, will be calling him the next, Joe Burrow, or Tom Brady through, but people think he’s small, undersized, with an arm that is below average. It’s time to confess that he’s an extremely good quarterback.

Here's all we need to know why Brock Purdy is a Star. Kyle Shanahan couldn't make CJ Bearther, Jimmy Garapolo or Trey Lance into winning QB 's no matter what the scheme is or was but Brock has that poise, vision, accuracy, maturity and confidence that can't be taught .

Trey Lance deserves a full season before we can fully evaluate him. It's unfair to write him off so early. Look at what the NFL did to Geno Smith, they wrote him off years ago, even though he was silently becoming a top QB. Now he finally gets to shine. I expect the same story from Lance.

Purdy reminds me of Joe Montana. He’s not one of these crazy running quarterbacks, but he can move a bit for the extra second, and he reads defenses really well and makes the passes accurately.

Deserved it last night. He looked awful. I mostly only watch Niners games tbf but he looked way worse than any qb we’ve played this year.
Idk why people keep blaming russ, the broncos defense has demonstrated one of biggest 1 year drops offs ive ever seen from a top tier unit to bottom of the league. Just a couple weeks ago they let achane run for more than 10 yards per carry, they followed that up with letting justin fields throw for 350 and 4 tds with nearly a percect passer rating, and then yesterday they let breece hall run for nearly 9 yards per carry. The defense is the problem, not russ.
I think Brock Purdy is awesome I think he's just getting started to feel comfortable letting the ball rip and I think he will go to the super bowl this year and win

its pretty interesting that the 49ers have the best pass protection in the NFL mainly because of Juszczyk at full back as a last line of defense for Brock Purdy but in the NFL barely anyone else uses a full back to protect their QB other teams rather have an extra receiver on the field. You would think more teams would copy the 49ers sucess Lol and use a full back especially the teams that cant protect their QB

Been watching the Niners since 79'. Purdy is easily the second coming of Montana. Heck they use the same adjectives - surgical, precision, cool as can be, can throw on the run, catchable balls, intangibles... maybe some verbs or whatever, but you know what i mean. Then all the bad things they used to say about Montana - undersized, cant throw deep, not NFL prototype or franchise QB. This is why Purdy will win Superbowls. Dont matter the WR or TEs he's got it. He will have bad games etc.. but hes got "it". Montana, Young, Starbuch, Brady, Mahomes they have "it". Niners going to be fun for a long time.

Another Cowboys fan here...grew up in the Bay Area during the 70's and 80's.......Purdy has a lot of Joe Montana traits. I'm not saying he's equal to Montana, but the eye test shows me a few similarities: same type of arm strength, both good at rolling out and throwing on the run, tough, moxie, leadership, slight of build.........it's still early in his career, but Purdy is proving to be a franchise QB. I have always liked Dak, but he's not on Purdy's level.

Wilson is decent still. He's been the one bright spot for that offense. We need to actually develop someone for once and wilson will be a decent place holder next year while they get ready. There's a deep QB draft coming. What worries me is Payton and the rest of the team. We need work everywhere on that team and Payton hasn't improved the squad at all
Payton has actually made the defense worse. And it took him forever to realize that Mims and McLaughlin should be starters. Now if only he would give them more touches...

They both came into great situations , which frequently trumps talent in the NFL at the QB position. I never thought Dak was that good, and i think Purdy may be better but idk how much better.
The fact Purdy was drafted so low and is performing so well shows the criteria "all" NFL teams use to draft players should be scrapped.

Sorry, I would have Tom Brady run my scouting team. Him throwing balls to college players. I bet Tom could figure out in a 3 day mini training camp if the QB's and the wide outs had the it factor fast. Many times as Bill Belichick had his own mini camp with the best receivers and Tom throwing them the ball.

Put Purdy on any other team. How do you think he does on those teams? If he would suck on 15 of those teams and be good on 15 other teams, he’s a mid tier QB. Another way to think about it is, if the 49ers traded him right now, what is the highest pick that would go for him? 4th round? Maybe 3rd? People would not be clamoring to pick this dude up. He’s Jimmy 2.0. He just works the system to perfection. He’s a system QB. I’m a 49ers fan.
