At first I didn't realize he put the ball in front of him. Had me scared for a sec, then I was super impressed when I saw that.
Deadass... He not only slides to avoid contact, he extends the ball to secure the first down AND he slides in bounds to keep the clock running.
That's for next camp to determine. But if he wins A playoff game it may be hard for Lance to beat him out....
a performance in the playoffs at least, if he's carried to a playoff win by the run and a defense it won't earn him the job but 300yds and a td or 2 would be hard to bench him

In the event that he does win the job (as a 9er fan, just want to see the best man win) there's going to be plenty of QB openings/opportunities for Trey.
Detroit or Minnesota in 2024, Washington, New Orleans, potentially even Las Vegas. Could be a win-win for all parties.

The Niners would be the biggest dummies to replace Purdy with Lance or Jimmy G at this point. Purdy is looking amazing. You DO NOT swap him out until he stumbles and so far he looks like a possible franchise QB. He is so young... he is only going to get better.

They way Kyle gushes about him and seems to let him operate in the offense, it’s very possible Trey ends up as the backup
How many games has he played to justify that? Some good backup play vs teams that haven't seen him before on a stacked roster?

He has played 3 games, is averaging 2 passing tds and one turnover that was essentially a punt, and has shown situational awareness. First time I’ve seen a rookie hurry onto the field and draw the def off for s free play that the refs blew dead.

If Purdy can lead the Niners deep into the playoffs I believe he could take Lance’s spot next season. Either way the Niners are in a good QB position for the future and this is coming from a Hawks fan.

As a 49ers fan I can confidently say that the fan base is all in with Brock Purdy. The kid just looks special! Even after mistakes, he just comes back and makes plays. That's what you need to succeed in the league!

As a bears fan, watching SF's offense with Lance felt like watching a bears game: you feel like they have a chance but you know well they're not going places. SF's offense with Brock feels like they always have momentum and even when a mistake gets made it feels like they'll just pick up where they left off, huge difference

Is this an actual question? Sometimes you can just tell from a few NFL games if a QB is good or not. Purdy is good. Kid is 100% for real
Case Keenum looked like a star in 2017 and got the Vikings to the NFC Championship but luckily the Vikes cut him because the team was propping him up. He was exposed for what he was by the next season. Purdy is a fraud and will be exposed sooner or later.
Titans fan here, during the draft I actually wanted us to get Brock especially with him falling in the draft at least nabbing him in the 5th. I believe that Malik could be great if he sits for 2 years and Vrabal gets him the coaching he needs but Brock looked more ready for the pros plus he played tougher opponents with more pro level players while at Iowa state plus he was a four year starter so it allowed him to soak in more. Mostly everyone knew his RB Hall was going to be a great pick up yet nobody thought Brock would even get a shot, and that just shows how useless the combine is and most of the analytics.

Purdy is the guy. You can tell by how the team reacted to him. In terms of teammates reaction, Purdy = Jimmy G > Lance
In terms of Shanahan reaction, Purdy > Jimmy G > Lance
Seems like its true that Shanahan was forced to pick Lance, it never felt like he like the kid.
Fool, Kyle is the person who actually picked Trey Lance. John Lynch has said that countless times.

As a Brady fan, all these young qbs showing up, and going off this year has been fun to watch. Current favorite to watch is Allen, but Mike White, Purdy, the backup for New England, the backup for Dallas. A lot of talen not being shown.
Haven’t watched the video yet, but….look at how the offense was with Lance, then with Jimmy G, and now with Purdy……It got significantly better when Jimmy G came back and is still rolling with Purdy. Purdy > Lance(as of right now)

@@mangomadness2158 also no Kittle yet all season and no CMC. People really do not take into account the massive safety net CMC has provided to our offense regardless of the QB. CMC is what has made our offense take off. Before that we were losing to Denver..

I think Purdy has been incredible thus far. The best QB the Niners have had in many years. They will take a huge loss trading Lance, but when you look at it they made a huge gain getting Purdy with the Mr. Irrelevant pick. Purdy is better than most QB's in the league is what my eyes tell me.

He makes some pretty nice and fast decisions . His game plays make the HC job easier. You can feel the dynamic he adds to the team by not trying to do stupid "I can do that" rookie decisions. Pretty grounded and a pure win. If the dynamic between him and Kyle continuous I'm purdy sure he will keep the job. The big question with new guys is always how they handle comebacks after injuries ..

I still think it’s lances job to lose but he really has to step up now in the off-season which isn’t a bad thing. And if purdy beats him out so be it. But it’s a win win for the niners having two decent qbs on rookie contracts

It’s a little early to make that kind of statement. If he continues to play like this and wins a playoff game or two and then has a strong camp next year. The challenge will be for the front office to get away from Lance. GMs usually hold on too long because it’s a 1st rnd pick.

If he plays like this for the rest of the season then he for sure has. Lance has never done anything.
The reason Brock Purdy appears so intelligent and confident is he has thought about being in this situation his whole career. I bet he has gone over and over in his mind what he would do during every play, in any given situation and by doing so has eliminated all the bad choices before actually having to try them on the field. You can even call it daydreaming his future career from humble preseason to winning the big game and that's why he seems so composed, he has actually already played it out in his mind.
I heard Jack Nicklaus say the same thing before Major tournaments. He would play the entire course in his head.

I know it's only 2 and a half games but the 49ers have found their QB he is a lot like Tyler Heineke and his QB mate Jimmy G. A leader and a winner. He should be the guy for years to come. What I've seen from Trey Lance has a lot of raw skills but he can't read defenses. Either you have it or you don't. Purdy has it!

Lance has never earned a damn thing! He would have lost a QB competion last spring to Jimmy G, that's why the niners did not give jimmy a playbook and waited to resign him. Lance is inaccurate and more worried about being the next Kapernick then a football player. Purdy has earned it!
