Alot of new commenters and viewers watching this episode, AWESOME! If you want the full back story and engine specs, etc. Please watch the previous video on this Civic: czcams.com/video/RoIXgVtARsU/video.html
Awesome video and more awesome project you guys do. I would like to one day see the budget version of this. K swap with the lowest amount of money posssible. From engine, to mounts, to ecu and transmissions. But anyways it’s looking awesome 👏
Hey if y’all wanna try autozone I work there and still see a large container of aircraft remover and sometimes restock them definitely worth the try
Hey guys I just emailed Pete
@@hectGamer66 z. Z. Z
Hello there i know this post is old and most likely you wont read my comment but i have a question bout installing a k swap onto a ek is it possible to be able to keep it automatic?
Don’t understand how y’all aren’t at 1 million subs yet. You guys are awesome!
You should send them a gift basket.
@@DavidH210 You are the worst
Canadian issues...they'd legit have an easy million if they were in Merica
Real gear heads are rare. A lot of technical youtube guys don’t get all the love and it’s a shame.
It's 1 of my favorite CZcams channels
Best automotive channel on CZcams. Edits might not be as flashy as some others, but the expertise and on-camera personalities are second to none!
I'm glad the edits aren't so flashy or quick. I love SA. I watched one CZcamsr, young guy can't remember his name but, I felt like I was on mdma watching it because everything was so effing fast.
Amen! The guys on this channel are grown men with experience and skill. A lot of these other CZcamsrs are kids with neither of those. They feel like they need the flashy stuff to be cool & relevant.
The price tracking 😍 That type of organization and information is a plusssssssssss
So the k swap started at 2800$?
@@Keyboardwarrior36932 with the cars price.
People keep sleeping on y’all’s channel. You guys deserve more subs and views 🔥🔥
awww man that EK is giving the teen inside me all kinds of feelz. I have a Zo6 and i still dream about an EK k swapped all motor beast. These days you can make 280 wheel reliably and reasonably priced. All in a 2100lbs honda. Epic...
I got k24 in my mr2 I can't wait to get it tuned
@@supers0nic77 mmmhmmm that will be proper. MR so it can take real power!
450WHP on a gt30 86ar ougggghhaa!!!
I may be the exception here, but I definitely care how they perform far more than how they look xD
Gotta get some FluidFilm Black on that underbody!
And I don't typically get too hung up on most parts, but every single K-Tuned piece looks to be of extremely high quality. Props to a company with a high attention to detail and polish.
"Looks to be of extremely high quality" Looks being the operative word, it seems allot of enthusiasts are having issues w/ multiple pieces from K-tuned not being reliable/failing prematurely. It's nice that there are options out there though.
You guys are my favorite build channel by far. You explain each interesting step, but also know how to edit to keep things moving. Love it!
I used SmartStrip advanced paint remover to do my valve cover, and while not as effective as aircraft paint remover, it is pretty decent. It's also odorless and biodegredable, so you can do it inside a garage. I found it at Rona for about 30$
Keep up the good work! Love the K swap, I personally have stuck to k series so I'm really looking forward to the B series build!
I love watching your content because I always think you do the builds "right" even when doing it on a budget!
I love this kind of content where you show each step, but quickly. Looks great on my end.
That scene with Pete putting on parts. Soo relaxing to watching with that badass smooth music. Lol
Great work!! It’s about all of it, the build, how they look and how they perform. We all strive for the show and go just maybe without all the chrome lol
just wanna say i love when you guys do honda stuff!! big fan keep it up gentleman
the build, the shop, and the production all get top marks! wow.
Great video! Putting the description and prices in is a game changer!
I always love to see a car that is well taken care of, both how well it is presented and maintained!
Extra thanks for the mention about the Puhn’s Brake Handbook, I’m always learning from you guys and it looks like this will be worth the read!
whenever i did my valve cover, i used Rustoleum Aircraft remover in the spray. we sell it at autozone and probably at oreily and advance too, in the paint section
Just remember to wear pants and long sleeves. I thought I got into some fire ants the first time I used that stuff lol
@@willyjameshuff yeah and non rubber gloves… found that out the hard way lmfao
Oreilly still sells aircraft paint remover. It’s a different part number but the old formula is still available in quarts
These guys are in canada
The new, current aircraft remover is useless, just a waste of money. One whole can and BARELY any paint came off my valve cover.
Enjoying the series, thanks for sharing guys!!
K is the way!
(I've got a k24 swapped ej1. Love it!)
Hey guys! FYI I did the valve cover on my own "ass2000" last year and I stripped it with "Dominion Sure Seal High Strength Paint Stripper." I'm Canadian too and grabbed it at the local crappy tire. In the body shop section. Worked perfectly. Probably took some days off my life but it was very fast! Keep up the great videos!
Performance > looks for me. So glad the CZcams algorithms threw me this series. Loving it so far and already subbed 🙌🏼
$2000? it instantly started out at $3k... what? is this not part 1 or something lol?
I'm pretty sure the civic is 2000$
Quality content as always
That is definitely a clean engine I’ve bought some junkyard swaps and when I pulled the valve cover was very dark and dirty. Lucked out on that one. Great build love the content brother.
Stoked on the Honda content! Im in Nova Scotia and bought a 97 kswapped ITR from a guy in Richmond Hill Ont 6 years ago, still has the original kswap that was done in 2008-9. It has hasport mounts with no serial numbers ( I confirmed with them so you know it was done long ago) and the wiring is a mess BUT it still works perfectly. If it aint broke dont fix it.. I guess 🤣. Anyway this build series may finally give me the ambition to clean my car up a bit. 🙏🏻
GLAD TO SEE YOU GUYS DOIN HONDA THANGS
i recently used brake-fluid DOT3- to strip metal parts from paint.. works like a charm.
use a brush to get in on, wait for an hour, scrape it off, done!
You guys are so lucky to be able to do what u do.
I can’t even afford a car rn with everything going
Used Cars is out there that is still budget friendly. I just got a civic for 2k that needs just an oil change. Good daily
Not luck it’s hard work,You’ll get there just keep at it don’t give up boss
I need a project garage so bad! Love watching you guys.
Same here
I have the Honed Booster delete in my FD and love it!! You won't be disappointed
I needed this. thanks guys keep up the great work 😎
Great work! Found y’all through my suggested videos, instant subscribe. One bit of advice, when your using a drill press wouldn’t advise wearing gloves while it’s running. See many people get their hands/fingers tore up when the bit catches the gloves and pulls it in.
Good job. Its coming out really nice
Love these videos, can’t wait to do my k swap !
If your guys are planning to keep the stock injectors, have you thought about sending them out to get cleaned/balanced? I’ve used rc engineering but there’s probably something more local-ish for you guys. Any used car/engine I do it and it always makes the engine run way better and it’s only about $100 for 4 inj, full printout of cc’s and spray pattern before and after.
I'm here for the technical bits, good looking work is a nice byproduct though.
I've got love for old Hondas and what they did in their time, but we all know that K is indeed the way. Looking forward to hearing about the de-boosted brakes, and hoping that we get an update episode on Connie's brakes as well😉A booster delete would free up valuable space for a BEAMS swapped RA24...here's hoping that's a possibility.
Bookmarked for future PT inspired K-Swap project.
Miss these honda kswap build .
Painted my valve cover last week and picked up some of that aircraft stripper at my local store so its still available
I just bought my ek hatch back from a friend that I used to own in 2007. It’s been sitting in a barn for 9 years can’t wait to get into restoring it. He’s also got a del sol si sitting for 10 years in a garage totally stock and great condition for a 1995. Would be cool to see you guys do a del sol.
Dupli-Color makes a really good paint stripper. At first I tried using aircraft stripper but it didn't do anything on my valve cover. Once I used Dupli-Colors paint stripper it started working immediately. That's what I would recommend!
I don't usually chemically strip stuff if I dont have to. Instead I use a combo of bead blasting and walnut shell, and I have a lot of different scotch brite looking wheels I use to finish. For valve covers it's super easy. I just cut out some plyboard and use threaded rods thru to plug/fasten to the board. Makes it easy to see/move without blasting inside it.
I’ve used brake cleaner to strip valve cover paint before. Worked ok in a pinch
Dope build as always.
this video is sooo good. thank you!
God, the paint is absolutely beautiful
I love your channel guys amazing work !!!
Excited for this!
On my eg8 I used Klean Strip Premium Stripper stuff works great cleaned my whole engine bay in 2 coats and extra tip at the end you could use a wheel brush might make a mess but I had plastic up!! 👍
Locked in for this series
Oh man, that parts bolting-on segment was so satisfying. It's crazy how dialed K swaps are now. What an awesome home mechanic swap...still rooting for the ITR though! 😂
I think I may take the dive pretty soon. What’s the easiest civic to do the swap in?
@@kw2519haven't done it but when looking into it, EG seems easier otherwise you need to use a DC Integra (or EG?) front subframe in an EK. Someone might correct me but that's where my research led and I think this EK already had the subframe swapped since it used to be K swapped.
@@BRICKHOUSESPL ok so basically you need to make sure you have the right subframe for the mounts and stuff. Arent EG’s getting hard to find? I think EK is everywhere and cheap, so then I wouldn’t need a subframe swap.
I’m honestly just looking at this as a fun way to fuck with Honda after decades with VW and Subaru
Also, thank you for the info
@@kw2519 depending where you are in the world finding a clean EG might be pretty hard these days. EK too if you're in the Midwest (America). Haha. But yeah, EK chassis + EG/DC subframe and you'll be off to the races with a fun project.
I'm in the same boat of just getting into Hondas this past year after decades of Nissans. My DC2 "restoration" is on my channel - super easy to work on chassis and the community has been great. I'd recommend it for sure.
Subbed as soon as I seen the k series on the trolley 😆
Love watching your vids!
You won a lifetime subscriber for this video 👍🏽
Sub’d…you guys are great! You make this look easy and fun. I’m ready for the next one.

You guys deserve wayyyy more subs, the work you guys put in is just unreal.
My experience with paint stripper, heat has a lot to do with it. Pre-heating the part and keeping it warm helps the chemical reaction. But yeah, the old Aircraft Paint Remover stuff was pretty gnarly, worked really well, RIP.
You can actually still get aircraft remover in a brush-on form from Walmart, just got some a couple of weeks ago. Its in the paint/automotive section of the store
I love how you went over almost the whole car. Then get to the rack and go yeah nah 😂😂
I think I've watched this series 4 times. Here I go again
If you sand the surface of whatever you want to strip with 400-600 grit, it helps give even the cheapo stuff a bit more of a chance to work.
love this, step to my K swap on my honda fit
💯 Your comment about appearance vs performance lol. Side note, I inherited a 2008 Honda Accord w/auto trans and I'm wanting to put that motor in an early 90's hatchback. Like an EG or something. I've never messed with these things so I'm following for sure 🤙
11:05 Just a heads up, please don't wear any gloves when you are using power tools like a drill press, wearing gloves is very dangerous & your hand can easily get caught inside the spinning drill press. (this happened to the guy on American chopper)
First thing we got taught in the workshop was to wear cotton drill overalls, and not to wear gloves or jewellery when on rotating machinery
No hoodies with strings or anything
Nice build 👏
All these super/ high end cars and I came to the channel for the Honda build off.
I used CRC gasket remover from my local napa to strip my 2JZ valve covers, they worked very well after two passes
I've tried it, it won't dissolve Hondas powder coat, you need B17, which needs a license to order
This was that garage 16 giveaway drag hatch from a year or so ago. Crazy
Aircraft ultra paint stripper is still available. Even some parts stores carry it
I've used brake cleaner in a pinch as well
I like a nice clean look but more into the before and after the performance upgrades
Performance, with a clean look
DOT 3 brake fluid does a great job stripping motorcycle tank paint when you spill it during a fluid flush...
That sticker placement 🤪🤘
Love it guys!
honda EK Kswap great content
loved this one
This inspires me to want to do this myself with near zero car experience, but all aircraft engines.
That old air craft stripper was insane lol spray it and before you were even done it would be all bubbling up. Miss that stuff
Gets super spicy if you cover it with plastic sheeting 😂
I can finally start watching this channel again
We still have aircraft stripper here in WA. I just used it to strip some valve covers.
Nice build
I’m enjoying this! I just started my ek build as well… b series tho 🤣
Love the prices n cost update on the corner
Aircraft remover is still sold
In the US all over the place. I got some from O’Reilly’s the other day, but MAN is it expensive! It’s nearly $80/gal now. Sucks when you need lots of it for things like wheels.
Aircraft remover also makes a spray can that works really well too for smaller projects. My advice is to make a little vat and ‘dip’ the valve cover in it for about 30-45min and the paint falls right off.
Can't wait to see this monster on the road! Just from personal experience, I'd swap the Hondata plastic IM gasket for an OEM metal one. Those plastic ones tend to crack.
Very great content 🔥🔥🔥
They have a paint stripper at Walmart that comes in those tall square aluminum containers like Acetone that you could try. Worked well for me.
I like to use the jasco gel paint remover personally. Still not as good as the aircraft remover but better than spray for sure 👌
A stock master cylinder on all 96-00 hatchbacks and all dx, lx non abs coupes and sedans is a 13/16. 7/8 is off a Canadian si usdm ex model. 15/16 is off Canadian SiR and usdm Si. Integra had up to 1" options but integra boosters are also needed.
Im always surprised how much room you have when you kswap a large displacement in these, just blows my mind. In the future I will turbo kswap my em2, maybe awd :)
I just k swapped my em2 and it’s a lot tighter in the em2 chassis I’ll tell you that much lol
I used aircraft stripper and it didn’t do anything. The jasco worked flawlessly for me. It was on a set of TRD factory powder coated wheels too, which is tough as nails.
Wish ek hatches weren’t so darn expensive in this marketplace. Would love to do this!
This channel and donut media are by far my favorite channels right now
Brake Fluid eats paint like nobody’s buisness. For cleaning the aluminum Easyoff Oven cleaner works amazing.
Hey guys I’m still watching the episode but I figure I’d let you know about safe n’ easy paint stripper gel. I’ve been using it and it pulls paint off really well and I got a bottle for 12 bucks. You’ll have to use a brush but seems to work extremely well! Hope that helps. Keep up the awesome videos!
Name?
sup justin
You didn’t even say the name 😭
Nice build ,
I want that shirt DP!
Brake fluid works well
