It's kind of sad how many stories of iconic Disney props include the words "then it was left to rot on the tram tour for years".
Yup...Studio Tour Boneyards are both awesome, and incredibly depressing at the same time...a way to view iconic screen-used vehicles, but so sad to see them literally left to rot away under harsh weather conditions with no protection.
I kept expecting the Limo story to end with "and then it snapped in two." That thing did not look structurally sound.
@@YesterworldEntertainment Truly a double-edged sword
They could make like Universal Studios and make their own backlot tour out of them.
Is it really? Or is it more so that people want to call everything iconic and have no real grasp of how much somethings might cost to actually store, maintain and keep around.....Maybe its more that fans need to stop trying to call every little thing something iconic that needs to be preserved forever, they do actually store and maintain the items that they themselves deem iconic.
It's honestly really sad that Disney doesn't seem to care about their history very much. I know we technically have the Disney Archives but if they opened up a warehouse museum somewhere with old ride vehicles and animatronics instead of scrapping them they would make a lot of money.
@@yoda908 Thats profits and capitalism for you, and the further we go in time, the more dystopian we become.
@@yoda908 What are you talking about they do have a family museum where they preserve history
@@wingsken ahhh. OK.
@@CJ-xx5ms to be fair, it's nothing compared to universal. They do such a great job at remembering the past.
Because it's just so easy causally opening an entire museum for a bunch of junk you don't need
Whoa! Is that "The Lottery" 's own Bette Midler?!
Indeed it is
@@YesterworldEntertainment Does Bette Midler ever get royalties every time you mentioned "The Lottery"? XD
The Backlot may be gone, but through this channel the legend of the Lottery will live on
Now they just gotta release the darn movie!
The Lottery, starring Bette Middler**
@@YesterworldEntertainment On UHD as a DisneyRewards exclusive.
I know right! I feel like I need to a least watch the movie after all of the mentions... it must be so bad that its good!
Why dont they have a Disney Museum in the parks? So much history is being tossed out like nothin jesus
This. Why Disney hasn't capitalized on some sort of massive museum archive is beyond me.
Same for Universal.
@@YesterworldEntertainment VR Recreations of past rides would make a ton of money.
@@YesterworldEntertainment because of money.
I ask myself this question every day
I booed out loud when I found out Disneyland cancelled a ride vehicle themed restaurant
It would've been AMAZING
If you like vehicle themed seating, the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater is a good option. If you want to talk about an amazing experience, I first ate there in 1989, and most recently in 2019 - and we had the SAME SERVER those two times.
@@sireuchre I was thinking, they should have built "Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater" with the ride vehicles, instead of fake cars.
@@sireuchre Probably not employed anymore because of the layoffs :(
@@sireuchre I’m curious, how did you know it was the same server? Did you have an old picture or something? I can’t imagine you just remembered a server you had 30 years prior. How’d you manage that?!
With all the stories you hear about attractions being scaled back due to cost you would think Disney would auction off more of its old props and stuff instead of letting it rot away. Then they would free up storage space and get some cash.
The problem with that is that it makes a lot of sense, and Disney hates making good decisions
Late reply, but Disney sold its unused props for awhile at their Disneyana shop. The do sell old stuff through 3rd party resellers. But I agree they should do more selling of unwanted items!
I absolutely love a Bette Midler’s “The Lottery” Easter egg/mention/joke in this channel 😂
She's a national treasure...and The Lottery deserves a Disney+ release, and possibly a release within the Criterion Collection, and maybe a place in the National Film Registry
Yessss, we need that!
I kept expecting the Limo story to end with "and then it snapped in two." That thing did not look structurally sound.
Yeah it looks like it's curved down.
Actually the limousine snaps in two. Just kidding!
Barbie is canonically stronger than Mickey Mouse, that's one for future historians to reckon with.
What does that make Goofy?
Or maybe she just bought a used car from him?
I worked on many of those double decker buses at EPCOT. They were used for “Around the World with Mickey Mouse” and the holiday version of the show “From All of Us to All of You” which were character shows / meet and greets. I also did the Junkanoo show!
Oh. And I shared a break room with the Barbie gang :)
Disney: Let's do the cheaper thing that will cost us more money in the long run while making us look cheap and lacking in creativity 😃
Eisner be like
@@1heKing LMFAO Eisner.....You mean the guy that literally brought Disney back from the dead, filled the parks with new ORIGINAL attractions and was the driving force behind the Disney animated film renaissance.....You spelled Eiger wrong, IF anyone looked cheap it would have been Bob Eiger who not only left closed attractions to rot for years IF anything was ever opened in that attraction after sitting for years it was an IP that they had bought, not something new and original that Imagineers had come up with. Don't recall Mr.Toad etc. getting closed under Eisner's watch LMFAO Eisner cheap.
@@lutherheggs451 Those accomplishment were more the partnership of Wells and Eisner than anything else. After Wells death, Eisner pretty much lost focus and direction. Proof of that was the hiring of Paul Pressler. We all know what happened during his tenure. I do agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of Iger.
@@lutherheggs451 eisner may have had a lot of positive impact on disney but there were quite a bit of flawed plans and ideas that had a negative impact on guests
Mickeys Limousine was stored north of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World before being scrapped. When it was ordered the customizing company asked what it was to be used for and they were told primarily for display. After putting a lot of mileage on it Disney noticed that it had begun to sag in the middle. They contacted the customizer claiming that it was defective only to be told that they build primarily for display and not to be driven as much as Disney had. From then it was transported on the back of a lowboy trailer to keep its mileage down. You could also do a video on all of the ships that Disney has scraped at Walt Disney World and what happened to the original WDW Monorails.
Didn't they let the WDW Monorail trains get crushed by a monster truck at a rally?
@@pinball541 They refurbished one of Monorail Reds cars and sold it. The rest where stripped of all useable parts and then buried what was left at the dump. The same place they put the submarines from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea.
@@pinball541 Yeah they did, but it's kinda a long story to sum it up in the 90s Disney opened an MGM hotel in Vegas and they wanted a Monorail for the location, so they used 3 of the old Mark 4's from Florida and for 9 years they were used into 2004 they expanded the MGM Hotel Monorail and got new cars so they sat in storage into 2014 when someone bought one of the cars, that someone was Monster Jam looking for something cheap and interesting to crush and in a 2014 Monster Jam show they crushed a yellow car while the other 2 are still in storage
The monorail story was the hardest one to hear. Not that is was bad or anything but because of what they did to such an iconic piece of history.
Yeah, I feel you there...
@@YesterworldEntertainment And it just keeps getting better(WORSE)... COUGH COUGH Splash Mountain Re theme COUGH COUGH
I'm continuously impressed with how you manage to come up with so much content.
Also, I will never get tired of you name-dropping Bette Middler in The Lottery. It's like an anti-joke and a running joke met in a head-on collision, but it ALWAYS makes me laugh!
Good, because I plan on never giving up on The Lottery...at least not until Disney releases it on DIsney+ :) Thank you for the kind words!
@@YesterworldEntertainment I would love to watch it
Interesting thing about the Viewliner is it wasn’t only a inspiration from the GM Aero Train, it actually used GM components such as doors and windshield from a mid 50’s Oldsmobile, and used a Chevy small block V8 to power it.
That’s the saddest one of all, that thing was bad to the bone!! I was hoping it had a v8 or something like that. I bet it even sounded cool!!
@@chriss8970 it indeed had a V8, 1955 Chevrolet 265 Turbofire small block V8.
Mickey's Li-MOUSE-ine blew my 9 year old mind when I saw it in Guinness Book of Worlds Records and maybe another publication. It was one of the first things I can remember nerding out on.
Imagine having a Driveable Monorail car in your garage
Disney got *Genius 100*
@@arthurluna6189 fax
Honestly can’t get enough of this channel. Well done (yet again) Yesterworld!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Something worth noting about the Limo, they would've lost money on it no matter what, Limos don't really get sold all that often given they are pretty much Taxis, and it is based on a Lincoln Town Car from the 80s which were cheap to get before the 80s even ended, while yes it was customized heavily, adding the extra axle would've done little to increase its resale cost. so by the time they scraped it at most with Disney's history added to it, $20,000 to $40,000, and that's if it's in Christine condition, but given it was rotting in the Florida swamp, maybe $15,000 if they're lucky
"star of The Lottery, Bette Middler" - never gets old
The irony is the retro futuristic appearence of stuff like the monorail and viewliner acctually fit the athestetic of Tomorrowland and some of the Pixar stuff (aka The incredibles and Toy story) really well today.
Bette Midler owes you for giving her the most exposure she's had since that one episode of Seinfeld.
Mono means “one” and rail means “rail”.
Mind blown 🤯
*Is there a chance the track could bend*
Not on your life my Hindu friend
We need “The Lottery” starring Bette Midler on Disney+
I remember waiting for 2-2.5 hours for the Rocket Rods with my dad back in the late 90s/early 00s. We were almost there when it suddenly broke down. After ~30 minutes of repair, we finally got to ride them. Wasn't worth it, TBH.
We 👏 on 👏 the 👏 west 👏 coast 👏 can't 👏 wait 👏 for 👏 Disneyland 👏 to 👏 open 👏 back 👏 up 👏
Gotta throw that dig at "The Lottery" in there don't you......
The Lottery was cheated out of the Oscars that year
@@YesterworldEntertainment he's right though
@@thewholecircus Yes and No.....There is far too much emphasis put on it.....Its not something that was really ever widely used at the park and I know this as someone who had been going atleast twice a year starting in the mid/late 80s. I was there when MGM Studios opened and there was never any massive push of The Lottery.....Im sure IF you dug Universal probably filmed countless pointless crap that they rarely used also, its just something that happens.
Mickey says Aloha to boy from Down Under just made me smile. That is just so wholesome.
I can tell you for sure Disney also had the LiMOUSEine on display at their yearly "Disney in the Park" event at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando for at least one of the years, most likely in the 1991 to 1993 range. I was pretty young at the time, maybe 10 or 11 years old, but I distinctly remember the maroon limousine. I know I was inside it briefly, but I can't recall if this was just, like, "hey yeah you can look inside!" or if we won a ride in it or something.
Before its Lim-Barbie transformation, it seems like it was quite literally all over the place. I'm certain someone out there has footage of it on the inside, but it's such an obscure subject not much is readily available.
Honestly, any story about abandoned stuff gets me interested. I don’t know why, but abandoned stuff just peaks my interest. Especially if it’s from Disney
Same. I can't get enough. -- K
"it belongs in a museum!" LOL im dead
Disney really is a soulless corporation. All of those unique pieces of Americana could be in a museum, but instead they are either gutted and repurposed, left to decay or scrapped. I am not okay with them turning the last monorail car into a Wienermobile.
Put a darn Disney Museum somewhere in middle America.
I agree. I think one in Chicago are Marceline Missouri would be amazing!
@@yotsubafanfan Or they could have it on tour! Like a circus/rolling as campaign.
Something.
11:25 That one on the right is just the Banjo-Kazooie logo.
Any day Yesterworld uploads is an automatic amazing day!
I didn't know any of these existed but now I'm really sad these pieces of history were abandoned like this. Anyways, Yesterworld is unbelievably good. It's like I'm watching a documentary from History channel or something.
Welp, you just made my day with that...beyond flattered :)
@@YesterworldEntertainment By the way have you seen Matt Sonwa's video of Walt Disney's Airplane? He actually goes inside it.
Knew there was going to be at least one mention of Bob Gurr in a vehicle related video. Crazy to think how many parks his designs from Disneyland have carried into!
Two of the Aerotrains, the basis for the Viewliner, are both still in existance. Number 2, at the National Railway Museum, and Number 3, at the St Louis transportation museum. Both are from the Rock Island Line.
You should do a video talking about forgotten opening day attractions at both Disney world and Disneyland! I feel like I know a lot about the parks, but every time I see old pictures there’s some ride or attraction I had no idea existed. An example would be Disneyland’s live mermaids that used to swim next to the submarines!
Weirdly, I have fond memories of seeing Barbie's limo as a 5 year old girl, so thank you.
Great timing, my night shift needed a pick me up : D
Same here
Dude same
Lol!
I hope those nights are over for me.
Here for it.
Hello fellow third shifter.
What a great way to commemorate Bette Midler’s 75th Birthday than with a mention of her Disney Classic ‘The Lottery’ Starring Bette Midler!
This show really makes me feel my age. God I can’t believe I’m 25 . And this makes me feel so old
I'm 26and I didn't even know half this stuff lol😅
That Image of Micky Mouse in a Limousine in the thumbnail is creepy something about those Micky Mouse costumes creeps me out.
I live in Portland, and have been on the zoo’s train many times. It goes through the Oregon Zoo, surrounding woodlands, and near to both the rose and Japanese gardens. I had no idea about its close relations to Disney history (cousins once removed, maybe?) It will be fun to ride it again with this in mind. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
The best thing ever is that we’re FINALLY getting the Epcot country expansion
I swear I remember this limo was on the Disney channel some kid who won a contest got to hang out in it. Disney channel used to have channel bumpers they’d replay since as a premium network at the time they didn’t have commercials. Commercial would’ve been recorded around 91
I wouldn't be surprised, that LiMOUSEine was pretty heavily promoted in the early 90s
I rode the double decker bus in EPCOT a few times, and I can tell you it was just marginally faster than walking. Main thing was that you could get to the other side of the World Showcase slightly faster, but with no physical effort, which was great later in the day as you grew tired. I also took one trip where we traveled between the countries in appropriate modes of transportation vs their geographical juxtapositions, as much as was possible to recreate. You could ride the boats to 4 destinations originally, and use the buses to take care of the rest. The double deckers did not really serve much purpose beyond that.
I would love to see you do a video discussing the night time electric parades! One of the few memories I have from the trip i took in my childhood.
I used to love those and I miss them so much!
I love hearing about this kinda stuff, it’s so interesting and it looks so cool. Nice job Yesterworld!
The World Showcase buses were awesome! I miss riding them! Great way to see the world!
Oh my gosh thank you so much! I get so excited whenever I see you have uploaded a video! This is just the best thing to take me out of any mood any situation I love your videos!
Yesterworld video on my birthday that’s dope 🙌🏼 thank you
I'm so glad you got to give a shoutout to the Santa Fe & Disneyland Railroad's Viewlander trains, they're pretty unique, underrated trains in Disney's legacy and history, you know as homages to GM/EMD's Aerotrain sets.
Great Video! ! It's fantastic you were able to get these images and make a homage for us to take a glimpse into original Disney Past. All of those vehicles were so and are iconic to this day. Thank you for sharing.
Had an argument about the Epcot buses and if they existed. Was not until I found an old Epcot promo video was I able to prove I was not crazy and miss remembering things.
Disney's history is much more interesting than it's future now...
Your right tbh
@scottbaino True, but one gets the feeling that it'll be singularly responsible for producing more content for Yesterworld to cover.
I know! Universal is the same - My god NOTHING is there anymore. No T2, Jaws...even the tride and true Jurassic Park is getting a new coat of paint. I LOVE rewatching some of these like it was yesterday when I was there the week the xbox-360 launched - last great family vacation. Anyway from Cape Cod, MA - Happy Holidays!
not
I was gonna say it’s actually the opposite! While the future of Disney may seem grim and/or rocky, I think we’re going to see Disney Decade levels of insanity as they try to handle coming back from all this mess.
So is the future going to be positive and sunny? Maybe not. But interesting? I’d be willing to bet yes.
That opening reference to Planes, Trains and Automobiles was so sly I almost missed it. What a wonderfully funny movie.
Keep up the great content. This stuff is better, if not just as good than some full length documentaries that I have seen. Good job!
Another amazing, well put together video Mark!
Great video! Thanks for mentioning the ZooLiner, many of my favorite memories growing up in Portland revolve around riding it, especially in the winter when they do Zoo Lights!
Hey Mark, me and my family are huge disney buffs, and were bummed about not being able to go this year but your videos have really brightend our qurentine thanks and keep going
Gnarly! Appreciate the uploads. Thank you
Harrison Ford screaming "IT BELONGS IN A MUSEUM" is perfect for everything important that Disney just leaves to rot or just destroys outright

Once again another great video that has me hocked till the end, keep it up!
Terrific video! Totally enjoyed! 👍🏼
I love learning about this!! never knew about most of these so it was definitely fascinating especially the limousine and the plane transportations
That one double decker bus has always been in Kissimmee when they retired them but as we continue to overpopulate they just hide it away.
I wasn’t expecting this. But I’m not complaining
Lim-Mouse-ine...... Brilliant!! 👏🏻
I’d say R I P to everything on the list.
One of the Epcot busses is at the Volvo Automobile Museum in Volvo, Illinois! I got to ride it around the small museum center with my parents back in 2018. Very cool piece of history!
You don’t even know how exited I was about this notification this made my day

IT LITERALLY MADE MY DAY BETTER
This is such a great video, and channel! I'm so glad I found you, (or perhaps, you found me, thanks reddit!) - This is awesome. I love Disney history, specifically learning about Walt himself and what he did. I loved this, and can't wait to see more. If I'm ever in Florida, I'm gonna make it a point to visit Kissime and look for that double decker, perhaps even ask the three sisters if I get a chance! What an awesome piece of history. Love that they left the worlds fair / epcot symbol on the front.
I was at Epcot in July '96, and they were definitely using those busses to shuttle characters around. We really wanted to get pictures with them and a guy told us if we wait five minutes, they would show up. They did, but there were so many my mother got impatient and started taking pictures of them with random families!
Love this channel id love to visit some of these places
Thanks. BTW, Grumman Gulfstream N234MM has been repainted in her original colours ans the covering is cocooning, as done at Davis-Monthan AFB, to protect her from the elements for preservation.
I remember the double decker buses at Epcot, both for Guest Transportation, and Character Carnival
Might be a farfetch'd idea, but what about covering abandoned european rides/parks?

Another Yesterworld video? Talk about #GivingTuesday!
Yessss I love a new Yesterworld video!!
Reminds me of the Mirth Mobile Limo from the Waynes World 2 film, a custom built AMC Pacer Limo. It was sent to Kings Dominion for their Wayne's World section of the park to promote the film in the 90s. Kings Dominion still has it to this day, though it was repainted black and is currently used for their Halloween Haunt event
Sweet another video!
