    When I first went to Disney as a child the early 2000's, I rode Snow White's Scary Adventures and cried because it was, you know, 'scary'. Immediately after the ride ended and I got off with me family we saw Snow White doing a meet and greet outside, when I met her I told her that the ride was to scary and she should close it. Next year when we came back it was closed. I'm sorry for closing it!

    COPYRIGHT CLAIM EDIT: So UMG, surprise surprise, decided to claim a 8-9 second portion of Gilbert Gottfried's awful rendition of "Friend Like Me" about an hour or so after it was uploaded. Thankfully I included the Lyrics on-screen, but I apologize for the muted audio...it's incredibly frustrating, but believe me, you're probably better off not hearing his "angelic voice" for yourself.
    So I've always wanted to make an "April Fools" video, but could never justify the time and effort into a throwaway "joke-episode" since I know most of you watch the channel for the thorough History, Nostalgia, Deep Dives and of course quality Entertainment. So I think I found a middle ground with an April Fools 'inspired'-ish episode with rarely covered Disney Mistakes, Blunders and Overlays that are so obviously bad...they might as well have been a joke. I wanted to avoid topics like Superstar Limo, Fantasmic which have been covered countless times, or the removal of iconic attractions that you probably already know plenty about. Instead, I wanted to focus on the less familiar ones, and the kind that don't typically get covered. So I hope you enjoy an exploration of some of the more Niche side of Disney's Theme Park Mistakes, and I also hope you are all staying safe and healthy during this challenging time.
    EPISODE CORRECTION: For some reason I said Star Tours opened in 1984 at Disneyland...of course it was 1987. I was in the process of researching The Last Jedi which came out in 1984, so I think I somehow got my dates mixed up during narration.
    CORRECTION OF THE CORRECTION: Return of the Jedi came out in 1983...I'm convinced Under New Management fried my brain.

      @sireuchre Před 4 lety +26

      The hard part about the Imagination Pavilion is that the 'playground' was getting way too dated and not so 'magical'. Arcade cabinet games advanced to the point that made it look lame, then we had PC and console gaming. Playing with simple light sensor effects, pressure pad activated effects, and pin screens just wasn't going to hold up in the long run. DisneyQuest became what the Imagination Pavilion should've become, and when DisneyQuest was shut down, it would've been wise to update the VR and other physical attractions from there, and install them in Imagination.

    Despite the fact that it was the 3rd most popular ride at Magic Kingdom, one of the main reasons management closed 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea was due to serious cost & maintenance problems. Apparently the water in the semi-tropical climate of Florida had a tenancy to grow lots of algae, consequently, the maintenance staff had to dump massive amounts of chlorine in to the water to prevent growth. This in turn corroded the paint off the surfaces of anything submerged in the water and was hard on the mechanical parts of the anamatronics. Furthermore it forced the maintenance crews to drain the entire lagoon of water and clean, repair and repaint the various parts of the ride twice a year. It's rumored that 20,000 Leagues was so hated by the maintenance crews that the they dragged out a slowly sinking decommissioned Nautilus submarine to show Micheal Eisener (on tour of the park) telling him that all the boats in the ride were in such a poor condition just to convince him to shut the ride down.

    Man, Endor Vendors was amazing in the early/mid-90s when Star Wars wasn't so popular. It was basically a mecca for fans looking for merch. Outside of conventions, you'd never find that many SW products in one place, and they had a nicely varied stock - not just toys and T-shirts. Plus having those great costumes on display. I was so disappointed when I went back after the Tatooine redesign; they really took a lot of magic out of it.

    The moment I hear about an attraction where guests are allowed to pilot themselves I get a rush of fear. I worked at a park for about a year and one thing I learned is that you NEVER trust the guests with driving or piloting anything.

    I’m so sad that Atlantis is that forgotten, is easily one of the best movies, better than any new live action, such a piece with a very beautiful art work and shocking story for what it was Disney back then. Atlantis deserve more love. Thanks love the video didn’t talk about Treasure planet or my salt would be a sea.

    Just a quick comment to thank you again for the great production values, research and voice over - I'm loving the sly sarcasm you weave into your narrative.

    Even as a 10 year old, riding the DLand Gummi Bear motor boat cruise was a "once is more than enough" ride experience. Seeing the ride through footage of it only confirms what I remembered 😅

    Hearing about the hate "Under New Management" gets always makes me laugh as after the original show came back and my family went to the Magic Kingdom, my mother said after watching the classic version: "I liked the old one better".

    I first visited the Enchanted Tiki Room when it was Under New Management in the summer of 1998. I loved it! When I came back as an adult 20+ years later, I was very disappointed to find that they changed it. We could all use a little Gilbert Godfrey in our life.

    Looks like a lot of that Atlantis expansion ended up at Tokyo DisneySea (along with the Long Beach Disneyland extension version that was never built). Maybe an idea for a future episode would be how those failures to be built in the USA turned into what is arguably the best Disney park in the world - DisneySea.
