  • The rise of death industries and our unwillingness to talk openly about death has made navigating the end-of-life increasingly complicated. Death Doulas, like Mangda Sengvanhpheng, are here to help by caring for and guiding people through the death and dying process. We asked Mangda your morbid questions and what we can do to prepare ourselves for death and loss.
VICE asks the 10 questions you've always wanted to ask, so you can avoid the awkwardness of doing it yourself. From a feminist sex worker, a football hooligan, and an ex-mute to a hitman, a freemason, and a functioning heroin user. And what happens behind closed doors at some of the most everyday jobs? We ask toilet attendants, bankers, bartenders, massage therapists, McDonald’s employees, and Uber drivers for their unique insights, bizarre urban legends and never-before-heard anecdotes.

I laid in the hospital bed with my grandmother when she died. My father, in his 70s, was understandably terrified to get even near her as she was in the active dying phase. It was hard for all of us (I was only in my 20, and I'm terrified of death), but I had to remind him that that moment was for her, not us. Care and comfort for the dying is absolutely necessary, and death doulas provide an important service.

I don’t know why this video got recommended to me, but it was … a comforting video. 2 weeks ago, I had a serious existential crisis and suffered anxiety attacks thinking about the inevitable. After my therapy session (and also going on Reddit in order to read about people who have died and been revived), I find myself feeling a little more comfortable with the end (especially since some say that once I’m dead, I won’t know it). I’ll still take care of myself, attempt to reverse my fatty liver and do what I love, but I wanted to add my two cents since this video did make me think. As for the doula herself, she’s an angel! I hope that she gets enjoys her life to the fullest and continues to guide families.

The DSM. Diagnostic & Statistical Manual. Personality Disorders:
There is no such thing as a personality disorder. Let Me prove it.
Play this out with a few people:. A couple of you be Law Enforcement, one be the psychiatrist & you, well, you are the person the has no idea what is going on (because they've got the wrong person).
I know a guy. Law Enforcement turned up ,with psychiatrist, to lock him up. He had a similar name to the Person they were actually looking for... 'Get your friggin' hands off me!'
"Quick, look how angry he is, he needs his medication' this is the psychiatrist saying this. Then law enforcement, do there thing and tackle him to the ground. He then lets out a few words; *bad language* probably because it hurt.
'Yep, he's out of control (Law Enforcement).
      People have personalities.
      Government people, are people.
Who is the one person who is Normal, with no flaws to be like? Who dictates this.
If we're all like this person there is no individualism.
If I inject myself with Diesel fuel & a new Disease is created... would Government study it or tell everyone to never inject themselves with Diesel fuel...if you didn't inject yourself are you in remission?
      Cancer Industry. . .
Pine Pollen straight off the tree, is the most Nutritive thing on the planet. Lauric Acid, found in in Breast Milk & Coconuts.

Why is the word 'cure not used?
Or is it wise to not inject yourself with the filth to begin with..?
You know, If a dead pig is on the Table, People will eat it if you call it Bacon...
Start calling it what it is: A dead Pig on the Table.

      If you ever consider befriending
&/or Hanging out with anyone who looks to have Chinese in them, interrogate them first.
Ask them what they've eaten in their life. Ask them the Nationality of their Parents (Background check).
They've consumed absolute filth and ,evidently, *understand* vey little about nutrition.
The Vietnamese are almost as bad.

When someone says: In Love, this can only be said to a Significant other, Spouse or Lover
A car is not sentient; said to a child; that is incorrect.
Do people earn only $40 per hour, or sell an hour of their life for only $40...

Hide 'N Seek: often when a kid plays this game; they'll count & run to the other side of the house looking for those hiding.

Vaccines; MSDS Materials Safety Data Sheets (stay away from these ingredients).
If 1 person has ever, in the history of vaccination, been damaged by a Vaccine; how do you know prior to injection that you'll will be %100 fine?
      In future; say government says:
'Vaccines are not what we thought'
Is it governments fault, or are you to blame? You as an adult want someone else to make your decision... Why did you enrol to vote?
(I'm Australian; late 30's, have never enrolled to vote. I know a woman in her 60's, has never enrolled to vote).
Why didn't you question why some "experts" are drawn to different conclusions?
My mother often says - Some people are educated beyond their own intelligence; they may be articulate, but they speak above people and don't get the message across. They sound like they know what they are talking about...
      They sound authoritative.
Cancer Industry: Remission - ask them why they don't use the word 'Cure?
Again: If I inject myself with Diesel fuel... & new disease is created....
If you didn't inject yourself with Diesel fuel are you in Remission?
A Clairvoyant: a clairvoyant will sell you garbage like, time doesn't exist - that is, until you're bitten by a snake... 'quick, call someone, they may only have 15 minutes...'
Why don't the media use the word 'truth?
The Clairvoyant-run media. If you ever see a Clairvoyant, ask them to provide a timeline. See another and ask why they a drawn to the same conclusion. Sit them both down together.
You have a car with a knock to the rear bar, bodykit plastic part - Dent. Hairdryer & pop it out! Don't waste your time with smash-repair industry.

@@laughingatgoofymfrs I didn't take it personally, just put the ball back in his court. I don't mind responding to the people who are confused. Education is key, even if they won't admit you taught them. My parents didn't directly teach us necessarily, but you start seeing the patterns. Many people are alone in the end. Even if they have a loving family. Westerners cannot bear seeing their family on death's doorstep. They start thinking about their own mortality and for many faux-religious become terrified. Many stories about blood fighting blood just to see who gets all the inheritance. Also it's going to become more common. People are having much smaller families. The birthrate continues to drop in America. Question everything! Who and what are you living for? What excuses are stopping you from following your dreams?

This was actually quite beautifully done. I wish death doulas were more common in American society. They provide a very human level of support and comfort that you can't get from anyone medically tending to your loved one or to you in the final moments. I don't have any beliefs about an afterlife or the existence of a deity but having someone like her with such a calming and supportive nature who is comfortable with death in these settings would make such a positive impact. I would also feel better knowing someone like her could be there to help guide my loved ones through the process.

She is wise beyond her years. Death is part of life. Most ppl are afraid of the unknown bcz death is permanent. The ppl who are left grieving will never receive a phone call or letter from the other side and so they start making their own hypothesis or theories about where their loved one went to. Did they go to the "pearly gates" of heaven or the fire and brimstone of hell? Or is the "other side " just a different dimension with a collection of soul energies? We won't know until it's our turn to pass away.

    Hi Miss Mia...
Sending you love and good vibes..I have been having the same kind of existential dilemma.. I'm more spiritual than religious...not quite sure what will happen lol? I'm not scared of death... I consider myself pretty death positive person... these past few months when laying in bed before I fall asleep...what pops into my mind is what happens if I pass away while sleeping? Started giving me a little bit of anxiety not gonna lie.. I couldn't stop thinking like when I fall asleep, what if this is my last moment of consciousness? I'm sure you know how weird and surreal the sensation is...
Makes me happy to hear how proactive you are when it comes to your mental health... I see my therapist once or twice a month...
Thanks for sharing a bit of your journey with me and everyone else..

When I die I will be full of regrets and resentment of cosmic proportions. This world is antithetical to life, so I will imagine me withdrawing all the life that has been actively frustrated, denied, and suppressed here. I will take the perfect beauty of nature, the silky silence in which, if you just listen, you hear everything but not noise, the flower scented air breeze, the feeling of sunshine on skin, the stars and the clouds, the taste of honey and the tickling of pollen on bees’ feet, the desert rocks on which moonlight glistens, the hopes, the dreams- all of it.
I will condense and carry away Life in the backpack of my soul, like a seed that has been neglected and denied, and plant it in another world (no humans there to piss on it). This is what I will do when I die.

the reality is, you have 2 options that you cannot choose. heart attack, which can be immediate and quick, or a living hellish life like cancer that drags on for months and years, like it was for my mom. and that hellish life is shared. i've watched her go psychotic, unable to work. we ended up being homeless though much of my youth, living in shelters, until i was old enough to find employment, mostly abusive and toxic employment. i look back and see only misery. the poverty took it's toll on me. i developed chronic illnesses in community college and am still on a decline. there is no happy life for me. there is no relationships. there is nothingness, even more so after my mom died from stage 4 a few years ago. i was her only family and her caregiver. there is no recovering. you just have to learn to move forward with what little you have left.

Respectfully, recognize and sit with the fact-the fact-that THOUGHT created (all) religion and then THOUGHT worshiped the THOUGHT it created. It is your conditioning that maintains that thought (as truth) and it is your conditioning that allows your thought to eschew all other antithetical thought. Illusion reigns supreme and there is no escape-just the creation and propagation of more thought.

Actually death is kinda evil one could argue. Adam and Eve didnt even know they were naked until the arrival of sin. Then, it was appointed to every man to die at least once. Death wasnt introduced until the arrival of sin into our lives. Regardless of whatever you choose to believe, death has been appointed to every man once.

I have attended many deathbeds and I can tell you that many, many Christians have difficult passings. I think it would be great if someone could help these people to relieve the fears of hellfire and damnation that gets drilled into them their whole lives. It’s awful what it does to them. As someone who no longer holds that faith, I would tell them to focus on grace and mercy and remind them of the care with which Jesus treated people, but it was never enough. People who were assaulted as children thought that they had sinned and were condemned. People who were abused believed that they should have stayed loyal to those who hurt them. So many deeply entrenched upsetting beliefs.

    • @hallowedclaret
      @hallowedclaret Před 3 měsíci

@@FlatTireForHire Thank you for your thoughtful response and vulnerability. I acknowledge that Christian faith taken at a surface level without being allowed to do a ‘deep work’ (internal healing including forgiveness of others, forgiveness of self, and trauma resolution) is a disservice to people… This is coming from a trauma survivor who has decided to press deeper to discover the true Jesus. I am currently a therapist, and have extensively sought therapy and healing. ❤️‍🩹 I am sorry for the poor portrayals of what a hollow faith can do to people. Reality is that Jesus wants a deeper part of us than many people readily realize, and that inherently involves helping us let go of the weights we carry. I shall definitely consider this additional career pivot because I want to help troubled individuals who are reaching their end of life with misconceptions like the ones you’ve mentioned. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏼
