Another definitive sore loser fighter. It's unfortunate that apparently it's a becoming a trend for some fighters (especially title contender/holder) to be making excuses upon losing a fight.
Unified rules of MMA, Section 15, Subsection G, Par. ii: if the fighter states that they can continue on before the 5 minutes of time has expired, the referee shall, as soon as practical, restart the fight.
Alex waived Herb off after Hill’s foot connected with AP’s cup (wherever it landed last, the hollow sound of a steel/ plastic cup is incontravertibly audible).
Herb called “time out”. Alex hopped **once** simultaneously *as* Herb was calling “time out”.
Herb then called “time in” and Hill and Alex formally reengaged by *tapping gloves* then hand fought twice before Hill threw his first left straight which Alex slipped before countering with left shovel cut.
There was appox 3-4 seconds of hand-fighting after tapping gloves for Hill to have refocused.
Alex won the handle-battle and foot position before the time out was called. Hill was check-mated fair and square.
In a championship title fight one should never lose focus even for a millisecond. There are *no* excuses, ever (least of all headlining a historic UFC 300 PPV titlefight).

They dapped gloves like fighters often do after a mild low blow, to acknowledge it, and they then touched/parried gloves THREE MORE TIMES, before Pereira's pinky knuckle glanced off of Hill's cheek, and sent his eyes rolling into the back of his head.

Perfect analysis. Nothing forces the referee to stop the fight if the fighter who suffered the fault don't want it.
It would be very easy if you are cornered and just use a low blow to get advantage of a fresh start.

Very bias even to bring that as a problem, because there is none. Sounds like a excuse.
In soccer there is a similar situation, if a player suffers a fault but didn't lose balance in is direction to the goal, the law of advantage rules that you should not call the fault and take the advantage of the player. If the refereee calls it, then he will be criticized and probably wont be invited so soon to another match.
Rules are made not to the benefit of the infractor. Otherwise you just could get away from dire situations with a low blow or a finger to the eye of the opponent, and have a fresh start.

I had poaton winning but as soon as it happened I knew the non stoppage threw hill off. If you’ve never competed it would be hard to understand. After so many fights they are accustomed to low blows resulting in a break in action. I don’t think he would have won otherwise, and he should be protecting himself at all times. It’s on him but the weird non break brought the KO sooner. My opinion
