- In this video I check out the all-new Bobcat wooden roller coaster at the Six Flags Great Escape Resort! I was even fortunate enough to record a reverse POV with both Korey Kiepert and Mike Graham from the Gravity Group, the manufacturer who built the ride!

That’s ridiculous that the park has not gotten a new rollercoaster since 1997. I’m glad new management is investing new capital in this park. The ride looks great!!!
Great Escape held the US record for longest stint a major theme park went without a new coaster (not counting relocations). Now that honor belongs to Michigan’s Adventure.
@@ItsSiebaydon’t worry, SFA is putting new trains and doing some unspecified track work on their SLC, so it will ride better than new!
@@porcelainthunder2213 If I had a nickels for every coaster from the 90s that got new trains and a new name at this park for “improvements” I’d have two nickels.
Might as well give Roar new trains since they’re not converting it.

I love that they put effort in matching the new scenery and theming to the old, instead of the usual Six Flags MO of just chucking a metal awning in and calling it a day.
I’m glad they didn’t use any of the crappy DC IP on the ride.

I prefer RMC B&M Intamin and GCI
@@VelvetteSimp GCI is mediocre. B&M & Intamin only make steel coasters and i much prefer wooden. RMC makes fun rides but i hate that they are pushing steel retracking onto old woodies.
@@djsugarc1075 Intamin made a few conventional woodies a while back. I prefer steel coasters most times, but El Toro slaps (and is in my #3 on my list because of it). I agree though, especially now that GCI is abandoning woodies for Titan track, Gravity Group is by far the best for woodies.

Never thought GE would ever get a new coaster, but I’m so happy we did, and can’t wait til I can make it out there. It’s only 45 minutes away, but being adult is busy and expensive!

Last year I went with my son to ride Bobsled at it's final day ! Was fun but what will be more fun is trying this new ride ! 😁
This is a spicy lookin family coaster. Also lovin the tech demo of the wooden boards from the engineers. ALSO the flip flop track piece looks like such a smoother transition than any other piece of moving track to send cars to the service bay
People say “why is el Tori Ryan your favorite, there are so many other Coaster YT creators with better production and more experience” that’s when I say “have you heard of a block zone” works everytime
Looks like a great ride and a great fit for the park. Lots of the smaller parks around the US seem to be getting some love, hoping that sparks some ideas for CF with Michigan’s Adventure 😂
Aye, Dorney and WOF (though they are more mid-size) and now Great Escape. MA and Frontier City could both use something new.

The sight of a new wooden coaster always makes me glad.
I find the Gravity Group family coaster is their best model.
It's a perfect thrill level for a family coaster. It's not too tall to scare away kids, but has enough airtime pops to make it fun to ride for adults. It really takes advantage of the Timberliners wheel flexibility to create airtime elements I'm small footprints.
It's a great family coaster for large parks, but also perfectly sized for the big coaster of a small/FEC sized park.
I seriously wish there were more large scale Gravity Group coasters. Dont get me wrong, they do family coasters top notch, and the re tracks they’ve done on the beast and racer, also top notch. But I wish someone would give them a chance especially with the newer pre cut track. Imagine something like the voyage or even hades 360, just a large scale, inversions with this new strong track. It would be world class!

I got to ride it on Saturday during the "technical preview" and it was a great little coaster. The head chopper effect on the first bunny hill is great. I was able to be front seat with the theming on the front. The front train design is nice and as an adult I think the restraints are good, but my teen daughter HATED them. It made her hips hurt because of the pressure the pivot point put on her.
Yep, looking forward to this one! I have plans to make it over there in a couple weeks. I love these family Gravity Group coasters -- unassuming stats, disguising surprisingly potent rides!
I love how personable Mike Graham is! It seems he's always willing to share information about their coasters and is a good at breaking down engineering concepts so anyone can understand them -- a great educator!

It might not be a B&M Hyper or Intimin's latest experiment (or the RMC Raptor I would put right in Steamin' Demon's spot), but I'm just happy my home park is finally getting some love. I look forward to riding it in a few weeks when I can get out to the park.
Their last rollercoaster was actually "Canyon Blaster" which opened in 2003, but its a very mellow family rollercoaster.
That was actually a second hand ride. Bobcat and Flashback are the only large scale ground up coaster.
Canyon Blaster came from Opry Land.

Hell yeah, El Toro first on the scene! Great Escape is my home my park I remember 2003 when I was 15 and we got the Canyon Blaster and it was such a disappointment. I'm so happy we got a new ride and to see all the love pouring in.
I just rode this for the first time today. It's a perfect fit for the park's lineup, and it looks really good. Definitely a back row ride for the best airtime. It's a huge upgrade over the bobsled. One, it should be open a lot more often, and two, the capacity it way better. On the first Saturday it was open, the longest I waited was 25 minutes. The layout is so good. There are no dead spots, and the off-axis airtime hills, and high bank turns are things you don't get on The Comet. The Comet still has it beat on height and speed. Since it was closed, I couldn't compare the two on airtime. I thought the airtime on Bobcat maybe could've been a bit stronger, but it is a family coaster after all.
I had no idea this was a prefab. I had assumed it was a traditional wooden coaster, built using traditional construction methods. I'm surprised it took so long for someone to take prefabricated construction, like Intamin did, and scale it to something that was more affordable and could be used on smaller rides. Every wooden coaster can benefit from prefabrication, but not every wooden coaster needs to be nearly a hypercoaster like El Toro is. I hope more coasters like this are built, and that precut track is used more often to refurbish existing wooden coasters. RMC and GCI's steel track remedies work to fix rough spots, but if the same fix can be made while still using wooden track, then I think that's a lot better.
I used to marathon The Comet when I lived near there. It’s an epic woodie, especially during octoberfest when it’s in the 40s there. What a great ride for that park.

My grandparents have a lakehouse nearby, so ive always considered both great escape and great adventure as my "home parks". Will miss the bobleds a bit, though they really had trouble opening them reliably. This seems like a great replacement for them, family friendly, but still whipy, cant wait to try it. Just hope an additional wooden rollercoaster doesn't convince them to close The Comet, which i think is the best ride there. If they ever do, they better build one of those RMC single tracks. If anyone is thinking of visiting it is a neat park, lots of hotels around there and the waterpark is decent and included in normal admission.
The Gravity Group out here single handedly keeping fully wooden coasters alive - we love to see it! Great vid! Can't wait to ride - the reverse POV footage really shows how smooth it is.

I've ridden the near clone of this ride, Timber at Walibi Rhône Alpes in France, and I absolutely loved it ! Great airtime and great pacing, it combines the thrills of a full scale coaster with the stats and accessibility of a family ride. Thus, I believe junior woodies from Gravity Group are the best coasters, fitting every park budget and every rider's expectations

I really think gravity group has found the affordable solution to a reliable wooden coaster, just back from Holiwood nights and the first drop and camel backs on voyage still feel as smooth as when the track went it so I can only imagine a ride as small as bobcat will be enjoyable for many years to come.

I was at Great Escape a couple years ago, the park is surprisingly nice. I didn’t have the guts to ride Adirondack Outlaw.

I loved this coaster today, and I'm really glad the park can boast a one-two punch now. Not an elite one, but better than most New York parks. Plus, the thoosies should have a lot of fun with the "Comet vs Bobcat" debate, which is a pretty close call

At least their last ground up coaster. Canyon Blaster came in 2003.
@ItsSiebay technically canyon Blaster wasn't ground up as it was a relocation from Opryland in New Orleans. However their zamperla gravity coaster is ground up from 2005

Also, Opryland was in Tennessee.

Great video! They actually had another coaster called Nightmare that was indoor! Great queue theming but the capacity was abysmal! This was my home park as a kid and comet used to haul!

Those are the same type trains that are on Oscar's Wacky Taxi at Sesame Place right? We just rode that coaster yesterday and I had never been on trains like that before. We enjoyed them and found them pretty comfortable overall.

I went on the public opening day, 45min wait in line lol. Also, I noticed that the top of the main lift hill on the comet was re tracked. Any idea if gravity group did it while they were there?
This is my "local" park too, being 3 hours north. Looking forward to riding this with my son this season. The park needs new rides, its a beautiful park but boring rides.

I got a chance to meet Korey Keipert a couple years ago during a zoom meeting, he’s really quite the gentleman and engineer!
Something I always wanted to ask Gravity Group is what's the distinction between their design work on rides like Leviathan in Australia and the full-on construction operation of Gravitykraft on rides like this one and Cú Chulainn (at least according to RCDB). How do they export their work overseas? (I know they've worked with M&V in the past.) Really excited to see this precut track debut on a full layout and I hope a lot more parks reach out to them about it. Do we know what other rides have received it this year? Mighty Canadian Minebuster was certainly running smoother with its new track...

Is that a working fireplace? I'm unsure of how much of a hazard it would be, but it would be cool to have some heat on a cold night. Or at least some pretty lights in the shape of a flame.
This is my local park meaning I live within an hour and have had season passes before but the place is just too small. Might be worth it to go to check this out though!
