- ACE AND I TRY OUT TWO SPANISH MREs SENT BY A LONG-TIME SUBSCRIBER, VLAD. WE EAT BOTH CANNED TUNA SALAD AND SQUID IN ITS OWN INK, AS WELL AS JAMS, SOUPS, CANNED PORK, AND STEW. 2 REALLY TASTY MREs.

The food in the Spanish MREs looks definitely more wholesome and “natural” than in the American MREs 😉
They have all been delicious, for sure. TFW!
@@MeAncient You should try and get the breakfast nº1 MRE, it comes with all those delicious cookies you mention in your videos, you will definitely like it. you put a lot of passion into each video and it shows. I know for a friend in the states that using amazon, he was able to found the tuna salad and even squid in ink (and lots of spanish products). It takes a lot of time to prepare, so even us buy it canned to eat at home. Try and Search this brands: Calvo (this one for the tuna salad), Albo, Ribeira for the squid. Hope it can help you. Thank you for your service, and a big hug and greetings from Spain.
If you like this spanish MRE you must come to Spain ( your next hollydays) and taste one of the best gastronomy in the world.
The gravy is usually made with carrot. And for anyome wonderimg those squids in Spain are calles chipirones, they just put them inside out so remove the hard part and the tentacles stay inside. Glad you like our MRE 😃
Sergio, those squid were OUTSTANDING!!! TFW
As a Spaniard, it makes me really happy to see foreigners appreciating our food. Yes, our soldiers eat like kings because the philosophy in this country is that a man with good rest, good food and lots of s*x is a happy man so that translates over to the military 😂
Edit: Over here we do not "season" our food like you're used to. We use natural ingredients, herbs and let them cook in their own juices. Things like garlic powder and other powders are very rarely used in Spanish kitchens.
Does that mean state paid prostitutes travel with the soldiers?
@@The_ZeroLine No, it means that the wives/girlfriends can travel with the soldiers to wherever the bases are and they have about 8 hours every week day to be with them and the entire weekend, except if they get deployed.
@@The_ZeroLine Even prisoners get a minimum of 1 hour, one day per week to have intimate relations with their spouse/girlfriend/prostitute. Even though prostitutes are not allowed, they always say "it's my girlfriend" and with no way to confirm that, they just go through. I am studying to be a prison officer so...I know 😂
Do y’all heat up your tuna?
@@russellcook4792 Depends. Tuna from a can? No. Natural tuna used in dishes as in cooking it? Yes.
Woah, this is like a whole culinary experience. What a way to start a week!
Yes indeed! A true Culinary experience. TFW
Fun fact: We (civilians) often times buy MREs when we want to go camping, hiking etc. They're lighter and cheaper than going to the grocery store and they're tastier than pre-packed, dehydrated meals you can find.
Love the father and son duo! Much love from cali guys. Keep up the great content.
Will do and I appreciate the kind words. TFW!
It's nice to know that you liked the Spanish MREs! Great video guys! 👍
Greetings from Spain 👋😄
As a Spaniard you don’t eat tuna hot it’s always eaten cold or at room temp
Spanish MRE’s are some of the best ones out there. Dutch and Danish MRE’s are great too! The sheer quantity in both is insane!
Giorgie, I'll have to try a Dutch one soon. I enjoyed the Danish one I had already. TFW
Got a cupboard full of these. Me and my boy love them on a winters hike. Everything you need in one pack, and the most refreshing of foods... Something for everyone. We find grabbing two random ones without looking, always gives us a cracking combo. Certainly the best of our collection. The US and English aren't quite as fulfilling.
I don’t see enough comments thanking you for your service. As an American, I take the simplicities of life for granted and I am humbled by you and your son’s experiences you share. Stay blessed sir, you’ve raised quite the bunch of wonderful and kind children!
Thanking veterans does nothing. Support veteran organizations. Call your reps to better fund the VA. Too many people thank Vets and not enough actually support them.
@@rijlqanturis625 I’ve donated thousands of dollars to homeless veterans, shame on you.
It’s a cringey kiss ass sentiment.
I'm a Spaniard, not in the military, but I did go to Marine (Infantería de Marina) military camp when I was younger, so I've had my fare share of these MREs. When I first tried them, I thought they were awesome (and we we were made to eat them cold as part of our training, so I can only imagine how good they are heated up), right up there with the food you'd get at many typical Spanish bars, and they are always typical Spanish dishes, so they're a really good introduction to Spanish cuisine which anyone in the world can get shipped to their doorstep.
In regards to the squid, I love it, but I understand a non-Spaniard being skeptical about it. It's very much an acquired taste and very different to anything else when it comes to its flavor. My favorite Spanish MRE is the one with Cocido Madrileño as the main course, I don't remember what number it was, but that one's great.
My dad sent me to college with big box of MRE’s this year. But I have a lot a family that is military so I love videos and also just in general people like you. You seem very kind hearted and seem like you could tell some good stories or advise for someone my age. And I love love that you say grace before any bite!!
I loved seeing both of you eating in this video
I always feel that Ace must get hungry filming these.
Those Spanish mres are a seriously good meal.
Still haven't tried squid, but seeing you enjoy those mres makes me want to try and snag a Spanish mre with squid.
Brilliant video again! :)
They are! I really recommend those squid in their own ink. If you don't have access to the MREs, perhaps a specialty food store or the canned fish part of a large supermarket might have a can or two. As always, TFW, Christine!
Its been a while since ive watched one of these videos and im glad to be back.
Welcome back. TFW!
Thank you team. That Spanish food looks really good. I am to old and fat to join the Spanish military. HA HA HA.
Me and you both, David. I'm afraid I couldn't qualify any longer.
Tables make an excellent heat source! Really enjoy watching you discover and enjoy these meals.
UN placer conoceros y me alegro que haya sido una buena experiencia para vosotros nuestras raciones de combate, saludos
ASA is actually going to eat one. You go boys! I've never had one but every time I watch your vids it compels me eat something out of a
can.😉😂
You should at least try some SQUID IN ITS OWN INK. Even if you buy just a tin of squid because you cannot find the MRE. TFW
Spanish here,...that tuna is a salad and any salad in Spain we eat unheated. I am stunned to see those dishes are served in MRE 👍
I got hungry watching you guys 😂. The bean dish is a "fabada asturiana" or "cocido madrileño" love them.
The quince fruit jelly is called "membrillo" that is often served with cheese, great combo. You dont usually eat it alone, too sweet 😂
I'm sorry but the Asturian fabada does not have vegetables and the Madrid stew is made with chickpeas, not beans. It could rather be a "highlander´s" stew (Cantabria) consisting of beans, a special kind of cabbage (the vegetable) and "compang"o (chorizo, bacon, black pudding, ...).
Love that y’all pray on your channels. Y’all are very blessed to spend so much time together.
Yes we are. TFW!
Great channel man, nice to see another person doing Mre's
I came across this channel tonight. First of all let me thank you for your service I'm very appreciative of the sacrifices you made to protect this country. I watched a lot of your videos (of course I subscribed) and I really enjoy them! They are calm, relaxing, enjoyable, and quality videos. You remind me so much of my recently passed away grandfather. Much like him you tell wonderful and great stories. I hope you and your son continue to make wholesome, quality content for us to enjoy. Thank you for all the great content!
Ethan, sorry for the late reply, but you are very welcome. I am happy that I remind you of your grandfather. I consider that a responsibility that I will take seriously. Hopefully you have seen two of my son's channels....Ace Videos and High Adventure Videos. More fun from our family to yours......TFW!
So cool! I love seeing the two of you together!
It was fun recording the both of us eating these two together. TFW!
First time watching your channel. Almost like watching the food network. The expressions and comments are making me hungry, lol!
Keep up the good content!
You guys are an awesome team and should be proud of your content! I wanted to by some MREs a while before COVID but they actually costed more than I assumed. Been watching as they pop in my feed, I love your work guys and I know I'm not alone there.
MREs are VERY expensive to produce. They typically cost in the range of 500%+ more to produce than your average store canned food version.
@@The_ZeroLine Dang, sounds about right but crazy...
Some really good looking food here guys, love the double MRE content like this.
i found this channel by accident and really love it!
Really enjoyed to see u guys enjoying our food! I have to say that we Spanish people tend tend to underestimate ourselves and think that anything that comes from outside Spain is better. Anything except our food which is the only thing that any Spanish will say convinced that is the best of the world.
I have a lot of respect for CZcamsr’s like you, ace, and adventure, for praying and not being afraid to put your faith out there! God is good! Fantastic video!!!
I appreciate that. We, all three, enjoy putting them together for y'all! TFW
Thank you for your service and the video. Love to see the collabs and you spending time with your sons. Hope to have a family like this one day
I hope so for you , too, Matt. TFW!
Another awesome mre, looks like Aceh got hooked to your mres Me Ancient. Thanks for the video 🙂
He did enjoy these, for sure. TFW!
That is a full meal you guys ate! And it looks super yummy! 😋❤
Great video. I do a lot of fishing down in the keys. I really want to locate some of those to bring out for weekend. And great for hurricane stock. Glad to see you back in our state.
Thank you, Fred!
I love your content I'm definitely a new subscriber
That looked delicious. The pork, the tuna salad, the stew... Spanish MRE never disappoints. I bet those jams would have tasted good with crackers. I wish I could find some of that tuna salad around here, that'd be nice.
Thanks for the video.
That tuna salad would be great if found around here. TFW!
Man this channel is a gem
Looks 10x better than anything I had when I was in. Another great video brother keep up the great work!
Thanks! Will do. Ain't that the truth about 10x better. TFW!
This one is funny. I love how you guys brew up your meal. Good job boys.
I like the fact that you both got your own channels he do his fishing thing I love it with the Crawfish and you do your MREs that is so dope I like that
Both of those looked great! Looking forward to the next one!
Stay tuned and TFW!
Congratulations from Spain, thanks a lot for your appreciation of Spanish MRE. I'd suggest getting a wooden table top for your boat.
Wow that’s a high quality MRE. Them soldiers eatin good! Love the vids with you and Asa
That's because we believe that a well-fed soldier is better prepared for battle than the one who isn't. It boosts morale, soldiers get their calories naturally etc. If a soldier gets hungry and hates the food, he is gonna postpone it as much as he can, thus being more exhausted and weaker. If they like it, they'll eat, get their energy back and keep moving.
That's the logic behind it. Also...our food is just *that* good but hey 😂
Thank you for your service.
Love when we get to see Ace
as always great watching you and ace collab i love the family bonding you two have. and the squid inked you soon as you opened the can lol have a great day and keep them coming boys.
😊 thank you, glad you enjoyed it. TFW!
The dynamic duo right there. Thanks for the video chief.
I like that tag line, Ryan. TFW!
I would love to try foreign MRE, but they are so expensive. Enjoy seeing your perspective.
My dad was a marine, well decorated, he passed in october and I still cant believe it. Your body language and your ways of life remind me of my dad. Keep posting good videos, and keep fishing. SEMPHER FI
I’m sorry to hear about your dad passing., Terry. When was he in the Corps?
@@MeAncient 1970 to 87

Wow you are gorgeous asf
Do you watch Micah's and Ace's videos too?
As soon as the table melted I thought this was going to turn into the campfire scene from Blazing Saddles...bahaha.. great Vid I admire how much fun you guys have..
That's an association that I'll take any day. We are happy to have you along on our adventures. I'm sure you have seen the video channels of my sons.....Ace Videos and High Adventure Videos. They include me in some of their video. TFW!
@@MeAncient fun watching your videos I have been watching both your sons videos for years now ,you all have a lot of fun Happy Tuesday:)
That Tuna looks gourmet! Almost like something you're to eat as a warm meal rather than just as a cold salad kinda deal. Man both of these menus look like they rock.
It was! And yes, they did rock! TFW
Thank you for the great birthday present…I hope you make some more great videos
I just want to say I appreciate that you pray every time you are about to eat. I appreciate that.
Thank you for your service Me Ancient!!
I'm a new subscriber and I'm so glad I'm here.
Me ancient eating squid is like a little kid at a candy store eating candy. Haha love the content as always!
I never thought of it like that, but you are right. TFW, as always.
Once again, when heating up smth in a can, don't open it all the way before putting it on flames. Just pop the can (in this case) but don't open it all the way. Then it warms faster and more evenly.
Love thiss food looksss like top notch fooddd!!
Just started watching your channel. Looked delicious
Other than almost burning your boat down lol you made me very hungry again with this delicious SPANISH
MRE must try inked squid 👍❤️
I'm really happy we weren't on the deck, over the gas tank. The gas tank holds 60 gallons. KABOOM!!!
TFW!
I mean the eating noises drive me insane but always fun to watch.
Love this one so much !! More please
Stay tuned......
Navy Vet here! I’m from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, I grew up eating “Caldo Gallego” the soup with beans, ham, bacon, beef and veggies and all the stuff in that mre. It’s soo good. In my opinion, of course I’m bias but the US MRE’s have gone down in quality. It’s more about brands, and almost everything is heavily processed. Times have changed I guess…
Quince and apple are very very similar.
Quince usually has a lot of pectin. My grandmother would cook it down to juice it. Draining it in a jelly bag to clear the juice.
It was always a nice jelly
I can eat this for lunch all day. Another great video
Lunch, supper......shoot, I could even eat this for breakfast! TFW, Ronald
So glad I found this channel 😂
The fruit jam would have gone well with the pork, but I'm a big fan of sweet and savory. I often put apples or cherries with my pork chops. That was a good one! That tuna looked good, so did all the pork.
The Apple i qould for sure used with the Pork we also eat liver with apples
What a great idea! Next time........
TFW!
I know Ace always films and throughout adds comments but that was cool to have the two of you together, the only thing that could beat it would be add Micha (I am sure I murdered that) in the mix. I love you see the three of y'all together! Much respect to your ancient, he definitely seems to be quite the man. Thank you for sharing with us!
Appreciate those kind words, Patrick. We try to get with Micah but either he is sick, his family is ill, or one of us isn't feeling well. Plus we live over 4 hours apart. Stay tuned....we'll put something together ASAP. TFW!
You both doing a review is nice! Liked the video:)
Thanks so much! It was fun working together on this one, for sure. TFW!
Love this channel keep going guys !!!!!!!!!
Will do, Grace. TFW!
I have quince tree on my property in California. But, yeah, they’re not super common in the US. I loved watching you devour that food.
Always love watching yours and your sons’ videos :)
Thank you!
Love the content mate keep it up! Try Aussie MREs when you have a chance. They're fantastic.
Cheers from Aus
Cheers to you, too. I wish I could get my hands on an Aussie MRE, mate. Any ideas where to purchase one online? TFW
Hay varias raciones, las de Desayuno están muy buenas,cuántas habré comido yaaaaaa😍,un saludo desde ESPAÑA 😀

I have a few old MRE that have the heating pouch !! The ones you show with the heat blocks look interesting where could I find some of those ??? Great showing of them !!!
The foreign ones (to us) are the heat block ones. TFW, David.
That's the gret thing about MREs. You eat them your way. If you think the meat would be good in the soup. There is no rule that says you can't. Great review guys.
TFW, guys! Someone else suggested eating the apple jelly with the pork tin. That's a good idea, for sure.
Spain.
They just know how to can food.
I have eaten canned Barnacles!!
That jelly,it is best on bread with cheese, slices of pectin and cheese.
Nobody cans tuna or squid or sardines like the Spanish people.
Years ago,in the discount cart at my local grocery, for 50cents each, were Spanish canned goods.
Nobody had any idea what was being given away.
I purchased all of it,the tuna, anchovies, squid, octopus, clams, for Pennie’s on the dollar.
Finally a double mre opening, mouth is watering yum, tuna cold soup mm best mre to me.
Great review as always have a great day yall
Vlad, Thank you SO MUCH for the MREs! We had a great time unboxing them together. More to come, sir. TFW, as always!
That first bite of that stew you took was smoked ham hock. They eat those a lot there. They def eat soul food in Spain.
We need more of these dynamic duo videos!
We'll have to see. It was a special request from Vlad, the sub who sent the meals. TFW!
The way you pronounce pollo is poy-yoh lol the way your dad said it had me dying😂😂😂

Been waiting for one of these!!!
You never know what else might be coming.......TFW!
Nice mres you can put one togheter with the Goya products sold in the usa.
In italy we use squid with black ink for pasta ,risotto or main dish..dome people add a spoon of tomato sauce. My us born wife loves them:)
Spain and Portugal tunes are the best I've relatives in the south of Spain and I use to buy some from the store outlet
Oh my! MREs from Portugal. I'd love to get my hands on a few of those. TFW!

Quince are delicious ... used to have the tree in my yard so I got to eat directly from the tree ... tastes like a mix of a pear and a apple.
Did you eat the fruit raw? I had read that it was almost inedible unless cooked first. Much like an acorn squash. TFW!
An Asian Mre would be totally sick!!! I would love to see it
Like always great content Me Ancient and Ace 💪🏽
Let me know if you know where to find one....TFW!
If you think this is good, I recommend trying out imported canned spanish seafood. I had some recently and it completely changed my ideas on what canned foods are. the Spanish have turned canning into an artform.
EDIT: On the subject of the Squid, the Vietnamese also have a variant of stuffed squid where they add minced pork to the tentacles and serve it with a light tomato dressing. It is obviously not canned as the squid is just lightly poached in broth, but it looks really good. There's a few recipes floating on the internet, or maybe check out a vietnamese restaurant that specializes in seafood.
Man, would I like to get my hands on some of that Vietnamese squid, if I could get it in a can. What a fun review that would be. TFW
Hey guys. All of these Spanish MRE's look so hearty and filling. I wonder if you could look on the cans or outer package, to see if there's a website. Perhaps they have a video online of how they stuff the tentacles back inside the squid body. I'm curious too, on how they do that. Great video, looking forward to the next ones. God bless.

SEMPER FI my brother Salute to you & Ace love the Content & great video as always 0311 is in the house
Semper Fi, my brother. 2621 in this house. Glad you enjoyed it. TFW, as always, Spoon.
The canned tuna salad is usually called "ensaladilla rusa" (translates to "Russian salad",) although outside of spanish-speaking countries it's often called salade olivier (there's a video by My Name is Andong on youtube if you're curious about the history of it). There's a canned version by Goya available in stores that have a lot of latin canned foods. The stew is called "caldo gallego" ("galician broth") and is from the north of Spain; it's a very winter-y food and ingredient-wise it really does have a lot in common with southern US cooking -- ham hocks, beans, potato, greens and usually some sort of sausage (chorizo or morcilla (blood sausage) is traditional).
Underrated comment
It’s funny, in a lot of countries I heard it being called the “Russian salad” but in Russia it’s called salad Olivier 😅
Sorry, but it's not ensaladilla rusa, there is no mayonnaise
Eso que va a ser una ensaladilla rusa por dios.. si confundes eso con una ensaladilla rusa me da a mi que español no eres
David, thank you for the info. Those Spanish MREs are really good! TFW
That squid in ink is looking good 🤤😋
