During our Trip from Hell video to and from Key West, you saw a lot of things get broken, in particular, we sprung a leak in one of the rudder tubes of our port engine. We scheduled a trip to Just Catamarans at Harbourtowne Marina in Dania Beach, Florida to take a look at what happened to our boat, make recommendations, and repair whatever broke on our boat. Oh ladies….as a 25 year owner of a smaller cat, I have if I may a few seasoned sailor comments for you. Boats as with cars have vast differences when it comes to build qualities (and unfortunately, the make you have is not known for long term seaworthiness). You will find that a boat must be continuously maintained and used to stay in a good state of seaworthiness. I am hoping the one you have purchased is not a COVID boat (one left to sit for a couple of years). I fully support your desires for new adventures, what would life be without them !! Join a sailing community just like PCA for Porsches, to assist in your learnings. Go out on a couple of sails with other boat members and even learn more. Best wishes to both of you !
Our boat is a 2018. It was a charter and probably did sit once COVID hit. As of today, one year later, we feel we personally know all upcoming expenses, and we have also done a lot to our boat. It has been very expensive. I will not lie. Thanks for your comment. Heidi

Wow....these last two episodes must have dampened your spirits a little....nasty problems that took big fixes. And you thought Porsches were finicky! It looks like you are on your way to getting your cat seaworthy and your confidence again that you won't be stranded out at sea. Can't wait for the next installment....a wave to you from Colorado.

It actually was even worse as far as tightness at Harbourtown, and we had a Towboat US membership. The last thing we wanted to do was hit another boat after all this work.

Problems NEVER end with boats. But have your fun, and you’ll eventually learn that boats are terrible decisions.
Problems never end with Volkswagens either, and Franny does well enough with them! I've got high hopes.
@@gadblatz4841 I've had a career that directly involved boats for 3 decades, in Key West, Lake Superior, etc. All my friends and associates owned and were involved with boats. I've owned many boats myself. For three decades my life was inextricably focused on boats from dinghies to mega-yachts, both private and charter boats. So my opinions on boats are based on vast experiences, both personally and commercially. My opinions on boats are very much like most people who have had life long experiences with boats. So, I will repeat for you the most common phrase about boats, from people who have had lifetime experiences with boats. "The best days in life are the day you bought your boat, and the day you sold your boat." If you disagree with me, I strongly suggest you do what most people do. Go buy a boat, have some fun, spend a lot of money fixing it storing it and fixing it and repeat constantly. When you finally compare the fun to the work and money spent, you'll realize that I'm right.

What are the facilities like at Pier 66 while it's under construction? I live in Hollywood and like riding my bike through Harbourtowne and checking out what's for sale.
Pier 66 was cool, but also very much construction mode. There was a ton of dust. It was a great chance to see a marina that we can't afford in the future. It's just too pricey.

I am sorry @mymini911 we are no longer doing car content. We do still have most of our cars at the moment.
And I thought owning a 911 was expensive? Any thoughts of owning a boat again, have vanished!

It looks as if it gets expensive to run these boats.

It's a good question. I do not have an answer. Sometimes metal is worse, because of dissimilar metals issues.
The boat was a mistake and has become not interesting at all. I really enjoyed you Porsche adventures, sell the boat.
