In the few instances we have had to anchor, we have had a couple of mishaps that could have been avoided if we were better prepared. The first instance was when our engine quit and we were not able to deploy the windlass, because we didn't have access to battery power. The second instance happened when we had power in the batteries, but we had blown a fuse, which often can happen if you run the windlass system forward and backward too quickly. We show you what to do in both of these situations, so you can make sure you are well prepared for anchoring, which is VERY important to any sailboat.

Another fine video....kudos to Heidi for the filming and Fran for the real life explanations of how things work....

  • @will4688

Franny is really talented. Great video ladies.

Just found your boat channel….it’s fantastic!! 👏Franny, you are an excellent teacher! You provide such great step by step information. Thank you. 🙏🏽 I’ve been enjoying following your journey from landlocked Colorado to sailors. As a fellow Coloradan in Fort Collins, I aspire to be a someday-boat-owner myself. Thank you for letting me follow your journey and live my dream vicariously through you for now. Keep up the amazing work, ladies! 👍You are an inspiration to many! ⛵️

I love videos like this! Franny doing mechanics! Miss all the porches mechanics!

  • @ChuckJ1944

Great job I'm impressed that you'd learn to terminology so quickly. I'm really impressed about your crimping Technique.

  • @danknox9986

Best wire video since the garage door opener on the 996 Turbo!

  • @Hui9697

Not that it matters but thought you'd like to know. That little pawn on the gear you refer to is actually a 'Pawl'

  • @bigilworth

What a great video! Love the explanation on how to crimp (not many videos explain that well) and all the emergency procedures gives a real sense of what boat-life is like. I love your videos, thank you for making them!

  • @1ricardobaptista

    Great video, as always...

On high quality crimp terminals you’re suppose to do 2 crimps. The first crimp is exactly how you did it. Then you use the other position (Ins) to crimp the insulation. It’s suppose to add some mechanical strength. Most of the cheap terminals only need the crimp exactly like you did it. Nice job!

I purchased this same switch, (green light and all) to activate the BMS on my home-built LiFePo battery pack. I saw the schematic on the switch and had a pretty good idea of how to wire it but watching you do a similar installation confirmed I was doing it correctly! Many thanks!!

  • @HarborsUnknown

    Great video and awesome tips!

  • @drmikettx4325

Hope someone makes a stainless version of that plastic part - I would not trust it in an emergency.....

  • @Thomas-vq5pb

    👍👍👏👏🙏🙏

Hi Franny. Jørgen from Denmark agin. You should not use those blue and red conditions. Get som good ones. These ceps ones vil get you in trouble later on. I did some sailing years back, so I know. And I know you did have knowledge of good ones and heatsink too. Youse that. Or soldering and grease. Now you are in salty surroundings. Just a tip.

  • @jasonbrodierqevermy1998

Do you still have the Porsche guys ? Or sell them all ? hopefully we see more videos on updates on them.

  • @TheJulianAcosta

Heya! What did you use to make the hole in the plastic cover to fit the switch into? I am about to do this install on my Helia 44 and am nervous about damaging/screwing up the plastic cover when making the hole for the switch… and your Channel Rocks!

  • @claudiof.barbano5530

Can anyone please provide the link to the manual anchoring kit?

  • @RocketJohn

    Gloves! 😅😮😅😅😮
